  1. david – you are right on! What were those judges thinking? Nina? They didn't like Tom's "obvious" design and yet Nina sticks 4 parasol's on the wall and they love it?! I don't think so.
I do think Emily should have gone home. I couldn't find anything to like about that room. Julie couldn't execute but at least you could see some design "attempt".
My choice was Michael. The unmade bed was perfect and the overall design matched the designer's personality. It seems Candace, Genevieve, and Vern see something I don't.

    • Yea, I thought for sure Emily would be the one to go home and and if Nina is the one with all those chinese umbrella on the wall??!!….well those judges are downright blind!!! I do not have any fav as yet but I really did like Tara, Stacy and Dan Faires room. Let us see what happens next week and who will be the one to go! I do not think that Julie thought the judges would take those things on the floor literally , I think see wanted a plush rug but maybe could not find it at the Chinese Market. I think it was suppose to represent somthing plush and nice for the feet when u come home and just want to relax but I am no designer so I could be wrong. Let us see what Emily will do next episode. Trent room was not so bad either. neither was Courtland's room .

    • Totally agree with you about Tom, he so refined and obviously sucessful in his own right but an unmade bed is not my idea of design. How old is this girl seven and Nina the wicked witch of the west go home already, there is no place in the world for people like you.

    • I agree with David 100%. I really think the judges got it wrong with Nina's design.

Cindy on June 15, 2010 at 6:44 pm
    • Wow..Go David. Nina is vile. For the first time ever I checked out bio's and submissions from the designers. UGH. Are you kidding? I really like Courtland..he has it together. Notice how he didn't say boo about Nina? He knew she would be her own downfall..why get bitchy? He played his cards right. And I think Emily has some vision..she just needs to "man-up" so to speak. Get her voice heard. Oh and that black wicker chair? Show me a house in the hamptons with a "lily pulitzer" black chair? I thought she was going to high gloss and put some fab teal patent leather on that bad boy…But no. she went the other direction. What was that???? I love design star but I am NOT loving the ho hum this season :(

  2. Where is Clive???

Shiny on June 14, 2010 at 1:20 pm
    • good question. I want to know as well.

Ryu on June 14, 2010 at 2:11 pm
    • I am glad he is gone. His cheesyness will not be missed. I liked that the judges are more involved.

      bingoe4 on June 14, 2010 at 2:44 pm
      • I second that.

Mark on June 14, 2010 at 4:15 pm
    • I asked the same question. I miss him.

Jackie on June 16, 2010 at 6:02 am
      • me too. i think the show is not complete without him.

  3. Hi David,
I, too, was floored when Nina pulled that one! Bohemian Chic??? That was so uncool!! And those parasols remind me of what a friend of mine did to her little gir's bedroom–way to juvenile and expected. Totally surprised Nina made it to the top. To be fair, Julie did a way better job in front of the camera. I wasn't that impressed with Emily's design at all–and of course, neither was she; however, I did like the attempt she made at invention with the string art.
Michael was a favorite with me! What a great challenge though: 500 in an Asian market — and what fun.
David, could you please tell me where that Asian market is in New York? I am planning a trip in late July and would love to visit the store–my son would love it too! Oh, and btw, loved Color Splash last night. Versace's home is lovely. I love the idea of the blue glass on the ceiling with the lights–and the loft home with the floor to ceiling curtains is stunning! Makes the room look epic! I went to Miami once and wanted to go into the Versace mansion, but they wouldn't let me :-(

    • As much as I like David & watch all his programs…I can promise the judges for Design Star & their potential advertisers, I "won't" watch Nina (should she win). In a country that has sadly experienced betrayal & greed, what I want to see is "fairness" & winning this for all the right reasons (like talent), not by back-stabbing a co-contestant. If you all noticed, although some others made comments on their co-inspirer's designs…ONLY Nina, completely betrayed hers. Booo, Nina!!

      lavibora726 on June 15, 2010 at 2:51 pm
    • I loved Michael's design too.
      Nasty Nina.

  4. Courtland,,,GREAT JOB….But everyone has got to watch out for this Nena girl,,,she is a BITCH!!!

Evy on June 14, 2010 at 1:32 pm
    • I think Courtland was really good..at least he was on the right idea. He was taking a flat wall plain room and trying to give it some drama. Considering the time constrants and the place to shop. I am surprised Candance did not go for that one. It is more on the line kind of designing she does. She just has lots of products and designs to choose from and talented help to finish the design that is in her head. About Nena….you said it and I agree!

Gayle on June 14, 2010 at 4:25 pm
  5. Totally agree with you, David and I am so relieved! I couldn't believe the judges picked Nina's parasols as the winner! UGH! What's with the nasty snarkiness with Nina? I believe in fair good sport competition: get rid of the evil ones!!!
And Julie had to be the first to go!

Now David? Glad you are happy to be back in Miami but WHERE ARE DANIELLE & IAN? OMG!!! I don't think I can get used to a show without them! You guys are a team!!! Sorry, not loving your new team except for the sweet assistant. PLEASE bring back Danielle and Ian!!!!!!!!!

Deb on June 14, 2010 at 1:35 pm
    • I totally agree, Deb!! Didn't see very many boo-boo's with Danielle and Ian. The room looked really great but I have to agree that this is the first time I have ever cringed at one of David's shows. I was a nervous wreck!!

Vera on June 14, 2010 at 3:02 pm
      • I watched both episodes of David's Miami show, and I wasn't loving it. I love Color Splash and David, but there just seemed to be something off about his new show.

mowgo on June 15, 2010 at 1:36 am
        • WITHOUT DANIELLE, IAN AND CLARE, THE NEW MIAMI SHOW IS LACKING. IT TAKES A TEAM, WHICH IT IS NO LONGER. REMEMBER, YOU'RE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU. BE CAREFUL, DAVID.

SHARON on June 20, 2010 at 2:59 am
    • About David Miami and I agree with Deb, Danielle & Ian and David, you are a team. I hope you are signed up for another season as "Color Splash"

Gayle on June 14, 2010 at 4:41 pm
      • TOTALLY AGREE—THE NEW "TEAM" IS LACKING TERRIBLY—DOESN'T MAKE DAVID LOOK VERY GOOD.

SHARON on June 20, 2010 at 2:57 am
    • And Clare!!!!

Susan on June 14, 2010 at 4:48 pm
    • I know! they are like fish outta water!!

Andrea Sterling on June 14, 2010 at 5:26 pm
    • I agree that Ian and Danielle were missed. I also missed Clare.

mowgo on June 15, 2010 at 1:35 am
    • I agree that David, Danielle, Ian, and Clair are such a great team, and always appeared to have a good time while they were working very hard. What are they doing now? Are they still in San Francisco, while David's in Miami? Boo Hoo! I miss them! Love David, though. Color Splash is still one of my favs! Color Splash and Holmes on Homes are the only thing I watch on HGTV. I'm giving Design Star another try, but don't know if I'll last the season.

After last season of Design Star, I was so sick of Genevieve and Candice slobbering all over whats-his-name, I stopped watching their shows. I don't like Vern's new "Simon Cowel" image — he just sounds rude and arrogant. He doesn't have the moxie to carry it off. I think the judges need to kick it up and be professional, offer positive feedback, and try not to sound so condescending!

GGG on June 18, 2010 at 3:59 am
    • I absolutely agree that the West Coast team was better. Danielle could have made that wall with the gradated color look superb! Instead, after the mess was cleaned up, you could see the lines between the shades of color. UGH!
Pay their moving expenses and bring Danielle and Ian to Miami!!
And I am SO happy to see David again on Saturday night!! He's the best!

Janet on June 24, 2010 at 1:12 am
    • Hey David where is the team that we love? I can't say I am feeling it for this move to Miami. When I turn your show on, I want to see Ian and Danielle. They are the team that feels like famliy.I can't say I will be watching you any time soon.Sorry your new team just doesn't get it for me.

Mimi on July 19, 2010 at 5:42 pm
  6. So David…….why don't you tell us how you really feel? LOL. Just kidding because I agree with you 100%!!!! =)

Heidi on June 14, 2010 at 1:41 pm
  7. Love you David! You are the original design star and definitely the BEST. This season is gonna be great, love this vlog!

Diana on June 14, 2010 at 1:55 pm
  8. I agree with you David, I think they should have made you a judge in this yrs design star. I think the Nina's room looked to over done and cluttered those parasols, what was she thinking, not to mention for a guy! I also want to mention I am glad to see you back home in Miami. I live in Weston 20 mins North where ( Dan Marino) and many other celebrities live in my area, I was wondering if we will see you come a tad North? Love you David you are the best!!!!! Oh and I totally agree with Deb above, where are Ian and Danielle, its almost as though your not complete without them. I don't think I can get used to this new team either. Last ngt when ur painter tried to paint the wall from dark to light orange with the glaze…ohhhhh man what was he thinking, Danielle would have aced it!!!!!! Just saying…

Rose on June 14, 2010 at 1:56 pm
  9. "He's a boy … we don't want parasols in our bedroom." I will be laughing about that all day.

Evelyn on June 14, 2010 at 2:02 pm
  10. David you are spot on… And I loved your new show last night but it was lacking two very important people, Danielle and Ian.(I have learned so much from Danielle on painting) I can't seem to warm up to your new assistants. The chemestry just was not there between you and them as it was between you and Danielle and Ian. Glad you are in Miami, makes you closer to me.. Maybe you will work your way north a bit to Jax.. I could use major makeovers.

Sheri on June 14, 2010 at 2:03 pm
    • Totally agree with you, Sheri, but you did forget someone…Claire !!! Danielle, Ian, Claire, and David where such an awsome group. Loved David's rooms last night, but ,sadly, the connection just wasn't there.

Barbara on June 14, 2010 at 7:10 pm
    • OMG!! I am so with you on the chemistry not being there with the new assistants. Can we please have Danielle and Ian?? I too have learned a lot from Danielle on painting and you two just fit so adorably. Of course, I learn from Ian also. Love the way he describes his frustrations. Both he and Danielle obviously love you and it is fun and comfortable to watch the three of you. Not so with your new assistants. I like the foreign male painter, but your two new girls not so much. Sorry!!! Absolutely no personality and they give nothing to your audience. We need to see hands on from your crew and learn as we go. Bottom line, David I absolutely love you and will watch anything you are designing. Could you please give us more info about your start and your education? Sending good energy to you. Bye

Gail on July 24, 2010 at 6:02 am
    • I to miss Danielle and Ian, I got on this sight looking to see if I could find if they are on another show? I know things dont always stay the same, but I am in agreement with Sheri…missing the other team!

Shelly on August 6, 2010 at 9:58 pm
      • I miss Danielle and Ian also. If HGTV has them on another show PLEASE HGTV let us know. No one can faux like Danielle and Ian seemed to really work with David very well.
Could it be that they did not want to move from California to Flordia???? Anyone out there know where they are…please tell.
