  1. Who does Nina think she is, the next David Bromsted? Don't think so, David is unique and has a great personallty. Nina on the other hand is is bossy and borning. I don't really see her designing anything except painting something on a wall each week. I think she needs to go.

    • Nina makes me wanna pull my hair literally. I think Hobbsheaven is right, they want to keep her for drama.

    • so true she really needs to go! i dont like her at all

kilokilokilo on July 11, 2010 at 10:06 pm
    • Nina has a negative personality and I don't think she could ever succeed at television with her own shoe!

Jeanine on July 11, 2010 at 10:50 pm
    • I agree. Nina doesn't present well. Her voice in is like running nails on a chalk board. Plus, she really isn't that good. I won't watch her show if the judges let her win.

    • Perfect my friend , very perfect.

Anaj on July 19, 2010 at 12:31 am
  2. Same here, but I think the judges will keep her just to add drama.

Hobbsheaven on July 9, 2010 at 9:06 pm
    • Unfortunately you are probably right about that. Which isn't fair to the other designers!

Mel on July 9, 2010 at 11:51 pm
      • Nothing seems right about this show this season. Vern so OBVIOUSLY reads off the teleprompter and this "Girls-Against-the-Boys" format is just STUPID! Do we really have to put up with this all season? If so, I will not continue to watch. After looking at the contestants' so-called portfolios, I agree: with the exception of Courtland and maybe Dan, none of them have any IDEAS, so they must just be there for a scripted role. Yes, it has all gone WAY downhill! David is the only one who has amounted to anything, altho' Color Splash: Miami is also pretty lame. Debbie Travis's FROM THE GROUND UP is much better, more informative, but they never seem to televise it as per schedule, much less give it any publicity! whadda shame this once-good show has to follow a stupid formula instead of the originality one would expect and want!

Linda on July 10, 2010 at 8:49 pm
        • This show is a train wreck (as is David's new show – can't stand it). What are they going to use next week? Vegetables. Genevieve loves using vegetables in her designs. I agree about FROM THE GROUND UP. It was on Saturdays, but they replaced it with Candice reruns. I happened to catch the last episode on a Wednesday when I was home from work. Debbie Travis is the best – far superior to the judges on the show now. Used to love Candice, but lost respect for her after last season. I watch just to see how awful it's going to get.

Penelope on July 11, 2010 at 11:12 pm
          • Why don't you like Candice any more, Penelope? Why did you lose respect for her? I still like her show and don't see that it has changed to any degree. I do agree with you about Debbie Travis — love her work and think her show should be publicized more. Maybe replace Vern Yip with Debbie on "Design Star"?

    • What show doesnt have drama?

designerwannabe on July 11, 2010 at 9:44 pm
    • thats the only reason!!!!!! nobody will watch her show if she wins!

kilokilokilo on July 11, 2010 at 10:07 pm
    • Ratings…ratings…ratings…she'll stay…and we'll watch!

Roselyn on July 11, 2010 at 11:29 pm
  3. Nina is negative…..not into that in my life….if she wants to do well in her OWN life….she needs to nix the negative! I really hope she goes home and lets the other designers do something instead of her having her own way. We don't get to see what THEY can do!!!

Cheryl B in Idaho on July 9, 2010 at 11:09 pm
    • I hope the others designers start sticking up for themselves instead of letting her get her way! Its starting to drive me crazy:(

Mel on July 9, 2010 at 11:54 pm
      • The designers shouldn't have to stick up for themselves-they should be allowed to demonstrate their creative talents. This show isn't about being the strongest personality. I should be about who is the most talented designer and who would be the most successful in providing the HGTV viewers what they want-ideas and inspiration! Disagreable designers make poor designers-it's not about them, it's about the people who pay them.

Gin on July 10, 2010 at 12:06 am
  4. That is one boring looking room! Dan mentions that the room is supposed to be romantic, it looks like a urologists waiting room. How disappointing.

The other members have given Nina two big spots for her "paintings". AGAIN?? It is now on the rest of the team, you fail. You weenies cannot confront her and say "no more"?

Where are the flowers that are your inspiration, oh that weak little arrangement in the vase? They should have gone out and bought at least a dozen of each flower so they could get a little contact high and come up with something interesting.

    Pathetic.

Henry Cloud on July 10, 2010 at 12:28 am
  5. Nina needs to just shut up and go home. She is not the professional that she thinks she is.
She needs to grow up, and become a people person. She does not need to be there, and I hope she
is the next one sent home.

Lisa on July 10, 2010 at 1:40 am
  6. I would never watch a show that nina hosted. She is underhanded. Maybe it is OK in the design business to throw someone under the bus, but not in my world.

siggy on July 10, 2010 at 2:02 am
    • I totally agree. Also be reading all these comments, I dont know what to think now. Nina may be correct on fighting for what you want. Nothing seems to go easy if you dont.

designerwannabe on July 11, 2010 at 9:47 pm
  7. I agree…I don't like Nina's attitude. Even if she turns out to be the best designer, wins, and gets her own show, I wouldn't watch it, just because I don't like her uppity superiority. Yeah, it's a competition…but you don't have to be mean about it. Whatever happened to good sportsmanship?

And, uh…am I the only one who is finding this season's show a bit…uh…boring? The challenges seem a bit lame to me: design a room around clothes, design a space around a musical instrument, design a space around flowers, etc. The white room challenge was good, but the others don't seem to be allowing the designers to really show what they can do. Not that this set of designers seems all that outstanding anyway. I mean, none of them seem to be on the same level as David Bromstad. I look for a designer that really "Wows!" me….and, so far, I'm not getting that from ANY of the designers.

Rhonda on July 10, 2010 at 2:52 am
    • I totally agree. Who picked this cast anyway? They all suck and I think most of us viewers at home can out-design all of them! Also, it seems to me the judges are not making good choices when it comes to judging designs this season (I know it is a little difficult when they all have been so horrible). All of Nina's designs and contributions have sucked and they treat it like its the best thing since sliced bread. Can they see what we see? She didn't deserve to win at all! I hope this cast starts producing something worth watching because thus far it seems like none of them are design stars!

missprettyprissE on July 11, 2010 at 10:41 pm
    • I agree Rhonda, there has not been any WOW! this year. You would think we as viewers would see something better each year.
And I would like to see something more in the teams other than women against men…. mix it up. And not let them chose… I like the year they used the paint cans to find out their partners and what they would do.
Show needs to step it up more not just the designers competing.

Deb on July 13, 2010 at 4:33 pm
  8. this years seems to be about buying that perfect, trendy item and placing it just right. Not about designing a cohesive space that works.

  9. TOP 4 things that almost everyone continually says on this blog is…
    1. Nina is mean & bossy & etc., —
    2. Vern is mean & thinks hes a big shot, etc.,—
    3. We miss & need Clive….where is he?
    4. HGTV is getting worse & this season is a horrible format.
I think the consensus of bloggers agree on almost all of that. Almost every blog says the same thing. C'mon guys….lets…."step it up."…as Vern would say. I think we've heard everything we need to hear on these 4 points. Does anyone want to hear more of what they talk about amongst themselves in the green room? I'd sure like HGTV to download those segments as an option for us to watch.

Hopeful on July 10, 2010 at 4:19 am
    • No, I could care less about the fireworks in the green room. I would LOVE to see something that resembles the design process though?

billyjobobb on July 11, 2010 at 9:23 am
      • I watch the show to see the design elements and how many different ways a style can be interpreted. We don't get much of the planning/purchasing/application process. Maybe someone from the show will watch and take note but, this season is probably already over so I wonder how much the audience comments will influence next season.

mominme on July 11, 2010 at 11:27 pm
    • Well said! I watch this show to get inspiration for decorating my home, not to watch the drama of Nina! I want to talk about the good designers….enough about Nina all the time! Dan being picked to go to the girls' side was a nice change. He and Stacey could be my designers anyday! I think they would make great hosts of their own show as they are pleasant, agreeable, and articulate hosts. Yay for the pleasant people! Boo for the disagreeable person!

Joanna Shumaker on July 12, 2010 at 12:17 am
    • Vern is not very nice on this show. He's very condescending, and it doesn't make for good TV.
I have not enjoyed the show up to this point. I haven't really enjoyed Nina, the challenges, or Vern.
I agree with Vern – what a dissappointing week!

robbie on July 12, 2010 at 3:11 am
    • Well, in this case, repetition is important.. sounds like you're complaining that everyone is commenting on the same stuff? Personally, I cannot stand the new format, and I think the more people voice their opinion, the more of a chance HGTV listens and goes back to the old format.

      carlos_F on July 12, 2010 at 5:12 pm
  10. I think they should mix up the teams as in seasons past. Girls against the guys is getting old too
