  2. i had to give her a pass tonight – same ole show, same ole client…

    i wish i knew why hgtv gave us a whole hour of emily, but only 30 mins each of the real design stars???

  3. Emily was the one contestant I was hoping would not win. Her designs aren't always bad, but her personalty is for some reason very annoying. She may be ok as a designer, but she is probably not good for tv.She is someone you (I) instantly dislike, & I will probably never watch her show.The one show she did an awesome job on was the finale. She hit it right on w/ her room design for Tom. She took everything about him into account & the room was totally him.

    • But wait, didn't she literally just take the pin stripping off his suit and throw it onto the wall?…The whole Design Star show is a farce…Emily should have been let go from the beginning, and those judges constantly contradict themselves.

  4. besides Candice Olson tonights Antonio episode is the best design I have seen yet on HGTV & I have been watching for years.

    • I wasn't impressed…That Gold wall was gaudy, and the mural will become tiring within a year.

  7. Have missed Antonio and Chewie terribly! So pleased they are back, hope there is at least a full season of shows ahead for this off-beat, real, sincere, creative designer.

  8. I really enjoyed the first two Design Star shows. After that, it seemed the contestants got less and less talented and the challenges got more and more bizarre. The judges on the last two seasons need to be replaced. Vern is way too critical (why does he insist on criticizing the designer's "signature works" when his designs always include so many candles that the Fire Dept. should be on standby basis?) And who can forget Genevieve's infamous moss bedroom wall on Trading Spaces? Unless the show is revamped to appeal to loyal fans of HGTV who watch shows to glean decorating tips for REAL people and REAL homes, it will be off my viewing list. And PLEASE discourage disparaging remarks by judges
    regarding "granny decorating" — it's discriminatory and insulting. Grannies have good taste too. And judging by the outcomes of the last three seasons, better than the Design Star judges.

  9. This season of Design Star was absolutely the worst show EVER on HGTV. It should have been titled –
    Not too talented people behaving badly. Are you trying to be like some of those other low class reality shows. Really, try raising the bar. Way too much of the sanctimonious Vern Yip. Didn't even like Candace who I usually enjoy watching. I didn't enjoy the challenges which were in many cases ridiculous! The whole "design" of the show was like watching court TV. It was like they designed the same room over and over. I almost quit watching after Dan was ousted (the only one whose show I would watch) but it was like watching a train wreck, you know you shouldn't be watching but you can't help it… but is that what you really want this show to be? I doubt that I will even watch next year unless there are some major improvements. If I want to watch bit**y people I can hang out at the DMV which would be more entertaining than this years Design Star. Missed Clive too!

  10. This season was the worst ever, and this guy is beige and forgettable. Emily is bad, but not as bad as this guy, The judges didnt have much to work with this year, but Courtland was clearly the best fit for having his own show. As for the online show, I wont be watching. And Dan, shave off the scraggely facial hair, it does not look good.

    • Wasn't Dan on LAST year's Design Star? I don't know why you are talking like he was on this year…
