  1. I will never watch this show because I was trying to check the schedule and all i could see was some woman jumping and some man doing something.

    • I love this show! But I already can't wait until Cathy gets kicked off! She rude, condesending, bossy, and a down right BITCH. If she gets her own show it's one I won't be watching. She appears to have the same qualifications and talent as Kim Myles. At least Kim didn't lie about being a designer!

  2. too bad for you, cause you will miss a great show! Cant wait!

  3. The female host is horrible. She sounds like a game show host. I want Clive back!!!!!

Susan on July 11, 2011 at 5:09 pm
    • I agree. To me Tanika was phony, she has got to go I want Clive back too.

Linda on July 16, 2011 at 5:20 pm
    • yes she sounds if though she is reading line for line—She does not seem sincere for some reason and the reason is is that she probaley isnt!!1

  4. Well, have you picked out your favorite designer?…your least fav?…how about favorite personality?…and least fav?

redbarnartist on July 11, 2011 at 5:41 pm
    • Cathy needs to go home. She may be good in front of the camera, but she definitely shouldn't be the next design star and certainly can't work with others.

  5. Shame on HGTV for giving a finalist in the DESIGN STAR competition an unfair advantage over all other participants. I’m talking about the advantage that has been given to Todd Davis of Season 2. He was the finalist having lost to Kim Myles. Though Myles did receive her own show, Davis eventually received a TV show and is about to start a 2nd show. No other finalist in 5 years of DESIGN STAR has had the same offer nor has any other DS blog had any contestant to overshadow that season’s material. Makes you wonder if HGTV Exs had decided on a winner of which the public refused to go along. The first 3 seasons of DS was decided on by the public. The runner-up was given an online show. Only runner-up Davis had received television shows: a version of OVER YOUR HEAD and now ROOM CRASHERS. He also appeared on SHOWDOWN against Kim Myles where she again beat him.

    • Todd Davis did create what amounted to a bunch of big toys. However Kim Myles has zero talent as a 'designer," which she is not, not even close. The fix was in for her, because she was somebody's hair dresser, on the show.

    • HGTV is not restricted to getting their talent only from Design Star – however, if they find a good talented person there why shouldn't that person get hired for his own show despite his winning or losing status? – I like Todd, find him not only talented but entertaining. Get over it.

Thinks Todds awsome on July 12, 2011 at 3:12 pm
      • Then if HGTV is going to give other contestants a TV show, make it open to ALL. They haven't done that at all, stating in their advertisement for DESIGN STAR that the "Fan Favorites" would get online shows, not television shows. Both Dans and Matt are better carpenters. Alice is a better designer. If you like someone that enjoys games, Todds your person.

ProudArmyMom on July 21, 2011 at 4:44 pm
    • Need to check your facts. Totally not true. Dan (who came in second to Antonio) has an online show. And Dan (from Season 5) has an online show. Also Matt (who also lost to Kim) was in Showdown. Matt was actually far more talented than Kim.

peggy on July 12, 2011 at 8:16 pm
      • No, you need to check the show information! By simply going to the SHOWDOWN challenge that featured the DESIGN STARS, you'd see that Matt partnered with Kim to take on the team of Todd and Jen. Again, Todd lost. Matt is excellent, serious with his craft and SHOULD have a television show. It is TRUE that neither of the Dans have a television show. Both have online shows–a vast difference. Dan from Season 5 have been on Emily's show, SECRETS FROM A STYLIST, discussing how to build a table from recycled wood. Loved it! HGTV is not AMERICAN IDLE. If they are going to put any participant on the air then stop stating that the DESIGN STAR winner will compete for their own show. That's no longer the case. They'll get any one flipping a show. Todd got two.

  6. Where’s Kim Myles, winner of Season 2? If Davis gets a television show, why can’t Alice from Season 1, Matt Locke from Season 3, or the real Fan Favorites Dan Vickery from Season 4 or Dan Friares from Season 5. For that matter, why can’t some of the other favorite contestants get shows? Honor the advertisement being spewed that everything is fair to ALL DS participants. Starting with Season 6 would be good.

  7. this is my first time watching design star ever but I LOVE IT

  8. The Female Host is driving me up the wall. No offense but she is too scripted… Also to add… Where is Jen from Season 3? I know she had a baby but where did she go?

Naomi on July 11, 2011 at 6:04 pm
  9. Not all that nuts about the new host, but it's good to have a mentor, and I like the little camera challenge. Good job on the bonus room. I'm really glad to go back to them designing their own space first, though I feel sorry for whoever has to sleep in the orange room. Eep.

BuffaloBarbara on July 11, 2011 at 6:07 pm
  10. First of all, I'm glad to see Todd Davis having his own show; Kim Myles may have won in season 2, however her show left me cold. Todd has the energy and talent to be a success.

I do not like the female host this year; comes off as fake. Miss Clive.

Love having David Bromstad as the "mentor"…he's one of my favorites.

Wonder how much drama we'll see this year…last year was a disaster. Enjoyed tonight's show, looking forward to the "white room" challenge next week.
