What’s your favorite part of Design Star? Tell us in the comments below.

Tanika is too mechanical. Cathy is mean. J is overbearing. Not pleasant to watch at all. Other than that, I thought the living room looked fantastic. That was my favorite.
I didn't like Cathy at all. She showed up with an attitude by asking everyone if they had their credentials. NONE OF HER BUSINESS. She thinks she is wonderful and yet, the window seat bench seat she made was totally unuseable. By the way, I know she can'thelp it but heavens, she has way to much gum.
Cathy didn't ask if they had their credentials the ex Dallas cheerleader asked the question and Cathy responded 'Yes" to the question. I clearly remember because I was thinking it was none of her business
Another awful season of paint sloppers. What a total disgrace to the field of design. Once again we are stuck with a bunch of inferior decorators, passing themselves off as designers. The general public is clueless about real design.
You must be glad that your Monday evenings are freed up to work on your brilliant portfolio, then. Link?
I'm not looking for clients. Who's going to hire this bunch of design non-entities, except jerks such as you.
HGTV needs to cut the "Drama" with Design Star… really, let's get serious!!
Vern and Genevieve are has beens from Trading Spaces and their $2000
rooms. I don't consider either of them qualified as "Designers"… and judge
others. Let's see some well known Designers as judges!! The show would
be more credible!!
David Bromstead is fantastic!! Tanya the new "Host"…hahahaha Why?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME, I DON'T THINK ANYONE EVEN COMES CLOSE TO VERN, HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE, YOU CAN TELL HE LOVES WHAT HE DOES, HIS TALENT IS ONLY MATCHED BY HIS PASSION, AND I THINK GENIVIEVE IS JUST A SWEETHEART THAT LISTENS TO PEOPLES NEEDS AND DOES EXACTLY WHAT WORKS FOR THEM… LOVE THEM.
Like I said, lets see some "WELL KNOWN DESIGNERS" as judges… Designers who are outside of
HGTV WORLD… Then the show would be more credible!!!
Let's be real… Genevieve's show along with all the others ARE SCRIPTED… Their TV personality is
most likely different than in REAL LIFE…
Last season Vern was TOTALLY RUDE and ARROGANT in several episodes…
Maybe "Drama" is what HGTV wants, but I agree…get serious. The judges started somewhere and shouldn't be so critical.
I just hope they do more than one white room challenge, focus on individual design and LESS team designing; back to the format of the show from the earliest seasons. This is the only way for us to see the true creative potential of the designers
I fell asleep last night and didn't see who went home – Please advise
I don't think anyone should be eliminated so soon. After the first 3 challenges, instead of eliminating someone, all the designers should be awarded points 1 thru 12, 1 for the worst, 12 for the best. Then after 3 shows the 3 designers with the least # of points should be eliminated. This would give them all a fairer chance…to just eliminate someone after 1 challenge isn't really giving them a chance to show what they can really do!
Great idea and much fairer.
I MISS CLIVE!!! They should have gotten rid of Vern, not Clive. He made the show a delight to watch. Vern on the other hand doesn't impress me at all. His "Deserving Design" show lasted about ten minutes and the NY condo he designed was so packed full of useless junk that it was unusable. Candice is a great designer when she has all the time in the world and an unlimited budget. Genevieve can design but is bowled over by Vern. Give the contestants more time and budget and let's really see what they can do. And bring back Clive! This new host is pretty but somewhat of a robot with a speech impediment.
I also miss Clive. Tanika is so forced. She sounds completely insincere – like a newscaster. She adds nothing to the show.
Thanks to HGTV for getting this up on the website so quickly. Many watchers no longer have cable TV. But please check into your commercials – they come on like 100 times louder than the show and scare the crap out of me every time!
So here goes – the pace was off this week. Too fast and chaotic. Thank you to the judges for tempering your comments. Judge's comments were really good without the meanness that was present last year. Thank you also to the judges for emphasizing that designers must get along with people. Just don't want to see all the meanness we saw last year. Love, love, love the addition of David Bromstad. Provides a note of warmth.
As for the designers, I'm pretty proud of myself because I picked Emily to win after episode 1 last season. This year, my pick is Karl. He has a sweet, unassuming nature. I'd like to watch him. I hope Cathy is eliminated quickly. What is it about newscasters that makes them so insincere? I really don't like the meanness, she yelled at her partner for her mistake! I also am not very interested in seeing more from J. Can't wait to see next week. Hope there are a lot of individual challenges this year.
Peggy if I am not mistaken, next year a new law will be implemented that forces the advertisers to reduce the volume of their commercials. They will no longer be allowed to destroy our hearing with loud, absured noises to get our attention. I have been waiting on this for years.
Design Star needs a makeover… First get rid of Vern and then get rid of all the Ikea makeovers. Most of the shows on HGTV are Ikea makeovers. Lets see some real design work… Candice has the only show on the newwork worth watching .. But I dont really care for her much on Design Star it makes her seem mean and nasty. Please step it up HGTV most of your programing is boring, how meny people are hunting for a house in these times…. Please get a HGTV makeover!!!!!
I totally agree with the comments of House Hunters! Give us a break! I no longer watch HGTV in the evening because I don't need three hours of strangers looking for houses I either don't want or can't afford . It has forced me to find other tv prgraming that's really more interesting than House Hunters. Design Star is the only reason I watch at night now .
