No one cares about DS. Everyone realizes that there is no "contest" at all, and that there is a prearranged "winner" that was chosen in advance of any filming of the phony show.

Tanika seems EXTREMELY fake to me, and I didn't like her right from the start. I'm sorry, but I just don't care for her. I think this years bunch of design star wannabes are very good. In the last few years that I've watched the show, I think they are probably some of the better ones. In the past seems like there is several really good ones and then ones that are so-so. This year, there seems to be more good ones than so-so. ____Erickcreature, since you seem to think the fix is in, who do you think is the designated winner of the show, because I sure haven't a clue who's going to win?
.Don't know. HGTV didn't consult me on who they picked before hand to win. There is the history of worthless excuses for designers being picked. Kim Myles, a hair dresser who did someones hair on the show before she was on DS. Antonio, a filthy slob, with a totally fraudulent resume. Emily, a clutter queen, who has no clue about design. Jen who was boring. And even David , who so many like personality wise, but most of his designs look like they are so flimsy that you don't want to open a window or it might blow away.
I guess it is light entertainment for those who know nothing about design, but watching. DS won't clue them in to what real design is. Of course, neither will watching HGTV in general.
Where did you get this information on the past winners? Kim Myles, doing someone's hair on the show. Antonio, with a fraudulent resume. Emily? Well I can believe this one. She totally has no clue about design. Jen is OK. But David? I really like his designs. Lighten up on him.:)

I posted everything about Antonio on the blogs the year the fix was in for him. I only learned about the Kim fraud after the fact, but that was on the blogs too, though things disappeared. More people just like David personality wise, so they accept his designs uncritically. His designs are predicable, superficial, and flimsy, they always looked as though you could blow them away. I can't watch his shows.
I enjoy this program and don’t know about any pre-selected winners, however, I don’t always agree with the judges’ decisions. I definitely liked J’s white box better than those done by Kevin or Grace, but I love the color blue. Mark Diaz’s creation did seem the best, but the praise for Kevin’s seemed excessive. While I don’t like to be terribly negative, safety is an issue in any interior environment. Unfortunately, I thought that the wall of crumpled paper was a cheesy fire hazard & dust catcher: not so cool!
Tanika is annoying. Pick another person to do her job ..someone not so over the top
I've can't stand listening to the fake Tankia, I have turned off your show I don't know who picked her but she ruins the show.
I like Tanika. She's a great host. It's a fun show. Entertaining.
I'm sure Tanika is a lovely person but I find it ironic that half of DS is based on hosting ability and the contestant's example is one of the most awkward I've seen. I'm all about diversity but I'm sure HGTV could have found someone more relaxed, genuine and fun to watch. She really takes the show down a notch. She's very pretty and I'm sure very talented in other areas but hosting this type of show is just not her thing.
