  1. RESA, the Real Estate Staging Association, an organization of professional home stagers, on their web page, is asking their membership, to take just five minutes a day to vote 10 times per day, for fellow RESA member Cathy Hobbs. Remind me never to deal with this idiotic RESA people who consider Cathy a stellar representative of their profession. At least it is proof that she is no kind of designer, as though we needed more than what we saw on DS.

erikcreature on July 26, 2011 at 6:30 pm
    • RESA has a facebook page!!! Of course I let them know what I think of them begging for votes for Cathy!!!!!

WPalmer on July 26, 2011 at 9:26 pm
    • I wondered why she had so many votes. It didn't seem right to me that she would be near the top, I figured she must know some people.

peggy on July 27, 2011 at 12:43 am
    • So that's how Cathy has managed to receive so many fan votes! She is so condescending, arrogent and divisive that I couldn't understand why so many people were voting for her…now I get it, RESA has instructed their people to vote for her and apparently they are following those instructions like mindless robots. I wonder if they even bothered to watch the show before casting their votes. Cathy is so annoying that I would NEVER watch a show that she was hosting. I think the judges were too hard on Mark. I don't know what he could have done differently to that room considering that Doug had tunnel vision and was so stubborn. My favorites thus far are Kellie and Leslie. They are attractive, bubbly and fun. It would be a pleasure to watch a show hosted by either of them because they are both so gracious and geniune…plus the fact that their designing skills are excellent and they work so well with others.

Freddie on July 27, 2011 at 1:04 am
    • Yeah, no wonder her fan-vote tally is high. What an arrogant and lazy fake. I'd never watch her. Thanks for the tip on RESA's facebook page, WPalmer!

HGTVmaven on July 27, 2011 at 3:07 am
    • Everyone should email RESA or go to their web page and comment.

ccjs on July 27, 2011 at 11:30 am
      • If people are voting for her because they actually think she's a good designer, that's ok. But she is NOT a good designer in my opinion and a lousy personality. If they are voting for her just because someone told them to, that is just sad. And unfair to the others who actually have talent.

Babs on July 27, 2011 at 3:34 pm
        • I think her taste is expensive and classic, but her product is too textbook for her to have a fun show. And her manner is really off-putting to me, as well.

          robo2 on July 27, 2011 at 4:33 pm
          • She doesn't deserve even that much praise; you are kind to offer it.

Penny on July 28, 2011 at 7:59 pm
    • That explains why she has so many votes. I doubt most who vote even know her or have seen the show. Really, that isn't fair. When we get close to the end, I will forget my favorite and vote for whoever is ahead of her. And I think e-mailing RESA is a good idea.

Betty on July 27, 2011 at 12:02 pm
    • Yes, RESA is asking their members to vote for Cathy. But like you all, we have minds of our own and can vote or not, accordingly. Personally, I haven't seen the 'It' quality of a true Design Star in Cathy. I haven't voted for anybody as yet. Cathy does not represent all Stagers or RESA members, in ability, ethics, creativity, or otherwise.

Cdastager on July 27, 2011 at 3:08 pm
      • Tell that to RESA. What a joke RESA is for putting pleas to help Cathy on their website.

  2. I love David Bromstead is a great mentor. He is enthusiastic, warm, friendly, and approachable but does make suggestions when necessary. He may offer guidance to the contestants but does not take over. My only complaint is that he didn't call Cathy on her lack of contribution to this week's challenge.

    snappscrappber23 on July 26, 2011 at 6:32 pm
    • Oops. Meant to say I love David Bromstead and think he is a good mentor.

  3. CATHY – I really think the way Cathy carries her self is a real turn off. Instead of coming accross as an accomplished, confident woman with talent, she really gives off an unlikeable vibe that says "I'm better then you". She is always trying to take charge and does not work well collaberating with the other designers and disregards their imput. There is a lack of personality and a coldness about her. As a homeowner, I would not want her as a desinger because it does not seem that she would take into concideration or impliment any ideas that a client may give her. It is very uncomfortable and aggrivating to watch her on Design Star. I would definately not watch her on her own design show and would be disappointed if she won this competition. I also think her over-confidence gets in the way of her potential as a designer. She really needs to come back down from that pedastal and realize that all the acomplishments in the world don't make you a better person, just a more established one. She makes me feel as if I am beneath her and I am not even there. Definately not how I want to feel watching a design show. At this point I hope she goes home next.

    Vickie W. on July 26, 2011 at 6:34 pm
    • I think Cathy is somewhat similar to Nina from last season. She is like a lioness that eats her own cubs.

Emily on July 28, 2011 at 9:43 am
    • I completely agree with you. If Cathy won, I would never watch the show. She might be a good designer but she's so arrogant. Being confident in your ability is one thing, but treating everyone as though they were beneath you is another.

Mary Ann on July 28, 2011 at 6:02 pm
    • I so agree!

Mia on August 1, 2011 at 10:08 pm
    • I totally agree with you about Cathy. I could not have expressed my feelings better than you have. She is very self absorbed and really should not be in this competition. If she think she is do darn good, whiy doesn't she have her own show? She needs to go.

Angela on August 8, 2011 at 3:13 pm
  4. I think Karl and Leslie are the best so far. Someone had asked last week why the dollar figure is not given when the designers go shopping. Well, yesterday, I noticed that alot of the items they were buying (flooring, etc.) the name of the product or the store was shown, so I have a feeling that alot of these things are being donated by the companies, as long as the product names is shown (product placement). I'm just sayin….

Geminijerseygirl on July 26, 2011 at 6:36 pm
    • Did you notice that they also showed the brand of beer they were drinking. What does that have to do with design?

Betty on July 27, 2011 at 12:04 pm
      • If they pay for space, product placement, then it is just another advertisement on a show that is loaded with regular advertisements that everyone recognizes. When everyone recognizes that the product placements, are just paid advertisements too, then perhaps more people will complain.

erikcreature on July 27, 2011 at 2:02 pm
  5. sorry…as long as the product names ARE shown…my bad.

Geminijerserygirl on July 26, 2011 at 6:37 pm
  6. Glad Doug went home. Hoping Cathy will be following soon. Though they are the drama-makers of the season and all seasons need someone to root against, I guess.

As far as rooting FOR someone, I haven't decided yet…. I do like a few of the guys. I don't think I fully understand too many of their POV's yet.

DAL on July 26, 2011 at 6:41 pm
  7. I do think Mark is the best designer by far so I am glad he was not eliminated. People who are passionate about their work tend to have difficulty letting go of their perfectionism. Teamwork is an acquired skill. We need to cut them some slack. I am glad Doug was eliminated though… His taste was terrible.

BDennis on July 26, 2011 at 7:14 pm
  8. What was Leslie saying about a wife. Was she saying she had a wife,or she had someones wife. Is she a husband? I heard her and got stuck for the rest of the show trying to understand.

Felicia on July 26, 2011 at 7:23 pm
    • I believe she is married to a woman. Her bio said she is the mom of a blended family.

      snappscrappber23 on July 26, 2011 at 8:25 pm
    • Wondered about that myself. LK

Linda on July 27, 2011 at 3:13 pm
    • Is it really important? That's here personal life. This is a design show. Stay focused on the point at hand.

Owanda on August 4, 2011 at 10:40 pm
  9. I am completely baffled by Genevieve's comments. Her "organ meat" comment was not only disgusting, but inaccurate. For her info, "organ meat" has a purple hue, not a salmon hue. Although I do agree that Doug's room was a hot mess, I am tired of Genevieve's uneducated and vulgar comments.

mari on July 26, 2011 at 8:20 pm
    • I didn't like the room but wondered why Genevieve came down so hard on that color but wasn't as hard on Meg when she used the same color last week.

      snappscrappber23 on July 26, 2011 at 8:26 pm
      • I'd guess it's the difference in challenges. The white box challenge is all about getting a little crazy. Putting a crazy color in someone's actual home, on the other hand, is nuts.

Guest on July 28, 2011 at 1:47 pm
    • I agree with you re: Genevieve. I feel her comments tend to be mean rather than constructive criticism.

Mary Ann on July 26, 2011 at 9:08 pm
    • I also detested the organ meat comment. Every bit as bad as the room. Iwish they had edited that out.

peggy on July 27, 2011 at 12:46 am
    • yes! I totally agree…the color didn't do ANYTHING for me, nor Doug's attitude. But Genevieve is supposed to be a professional. Where was the professionalism here? Vern will cut you to the core, but he does it constructively. Not Genevieve. Sorry it ended that way Doug!

lorilea on July 27, 2011 at 11:00 pm
    • I also thought Genevieve's comment was over the top and inaccurate. May we remind her of her "wall of moss" in Trading Spaces? She should not be a judge.

LifeisMy Game on July 28, 2011 at 12:18 am
      • I so agree with you. The wall did not look like organ meat and it was an over the top comment. Also agree the moss wall on Trading Spaces was horrible. There was that period where Trading Spaces was like a game show and the designers did not always give you a pretty room. That said- Doug was stubborn about his color choice and it was not good. If the judges saw the tape showing that Mark asked to change the color and got shot down by Doug that explains the outcome. As a viewer the issue is that we liked Doug as a person. He came off as a nice guy. The winners of Design Star always are a combination of nice personality with good design. Therefore the weeding out will sometimes eliminate one of the nicer designers .

Judy on August 2, 2011 at 9:25 am
  10. Most cringe-worthy moment of Episode Three? Without a doubt the reveal of the room designed by Doug and Mark. What a disappointment! And even though Doug certainly made some atrocious choices regarding paint color and furnishings, neither one seemed to really pay attention to what the homeowners wanted. I got the impression that the Callegaris are very family-oriented and love having fun with family and friends, and were hoping for a room that would reflect that, as Kellie, Leslie, and Kevin's room did. Instead they got a bland, boring, read-a-book-by-the-fireplace sort of living room crammed into a corner behind a vast empty expanse of floor. At least it was a nice floor! Both of these designers did a phenomenal job last week with their graphic wall art — why did they not bring some of that creativity into this space? They really should have listened to David's advice and tried harder to work together, if only for the sake of the homeowners. One of them did deserve to go home, and since Doug made more design mistakes he was the right choice.

CplusE on July 26, 2011 at 8:40 pm
    • CRINGE-WORTHY is exactly how I felt about Doug's behavior as well as Cathy's. People will not remember anything about them except that they had hissy fits.
