David on Episode 5: ‘It Looked Like a Fast Food Restaurant’

No matter where Cathy Hobbs is from or what she has done previously (I truly can't believe she won an Emmy for anything!!!), she is by far the most obnoxious person to ever appear on this show. I usually don't watch all the Design Star episodes — I watch the first and then pick it up towards the end when there are fewer competitors — but this year I am watching every episode hoping to see her booted off the show. Her "talents" are minimal — did you see the over-accessorized kitchen she "staged" — and her personality is definitely her weakest attribute. She is bossy, overbearing, self-centered, egotistical and genuinely unlikeable. When teamed, she treats the other designers like her servants and/or crew. Apparently she can't get along with anyone else on the show, the word "teamwork" is alien to her and I shudder to think how she'd treat her own crew if, God forbid, she did win the competition. I'll be watching again tonight, fingers crossed, for her departure. At this point, I don't really have a favorite to win…..just an overwhelming desire for Cathy not to be there the next week.
They had the perfect opp to send Cathy home last week. The staging she did in that kitchen looked awful. But instead they rewarded her by letting her win the camera challenge. Are the judges crazy? Do they really think people want to watch a conceited, ego-maniac decorator on TV. Kick her to the curb, please!
I completely agree with all the comments regarding Kathy. She is horrible, she doesn't work well with anybody and she's so full of herself it's sickening. Oh, did I say she's horrible?!
If Cathy wins Design Star, she won't have me as a viewer. She's probably good for ratings on Design Star, but her attitude is annoying…no, actually, it's angering. She's not a team player and treats everyone as beneath her. I pity anyone who has to work with her in "real life." Hope she has a revolving door for them!
Cathy is HORRIBLE. Bug-eyed, nasty creature with no design skills outside of being a shopper. Thank goodness she's been eliminated. It should have happened weeks ago. And yeah – not a fan of Clive, but this new chick is not a good choice. More David — less Cathy and whats-her-name, the un-likeable hostess!!
Ding Dong the bitch is gone, the wicked bitch is gone! Finally! I was beginning to think the judges had gone deaf dumb and blind. I guess last night's comment by the judges explained why Cathy got this far in the competition. According to Genevieve that had been waiting for "big bold design" to come from her "big bold personality". Very tactful way of saying, "you can talk, but you ain't got game." Now I can enjoy the rest of DS now that Cathy is GONE!

I completely disagree with the judges' comments about Kevin and Meg's kitchen – I think most families want a space just for their kids in the kitchen, and I personally really liked the concept of having the desk and shelves just for the kids. Maybe Kevin could have styled it a little less messy, by labeling boxes with items instead of having all the items displayed (i.e. crayons, playdough, etc.), but I loved the idea of a kids' space in the kitchen and I loved the art on the refrigerator!
I am very glad that Cathy has been eliminated now; she was just bossy and obnoxious and would never give the other designers a chance to speak. Sorry Cathy.
