  1. Love the colors of this kitchen and the glass door! However, as far as kitchen layout goes, having the stove against the wall like that shows poor planning. There should be at least 18" or more of counter space on each side. Also, having flames from the cooktop so close to the wall is dangerous.

I think you are missing a great opportunity to get a glimpse and some insight into the designers by not watching the teams work together as part of your judging criteria. It is easy to tell the candidates to resist letting a fellow designer dominate the design challenge. In some cases, one of the designers would have to literally stoop to a fist fight to over come someone like Cathy who is rude and arrogant. They more professional designer is trying to maintain a civil event and displays good manners just to keep the peace with her. You are not allowing yourself to see how bullyish she is or other designers like her when you don't observe the teams working together.

    • oh I think they are aware of the whole shabang. Genevieve or Vern commented to Kathy and Karl that their was not coordination on that kitchen. They wouldn't know that unless either the host (what is her name?!) told them OR they got wind of it from David OR they watch clips of the show before it is edited. They can't choose the design star simply by looking at what was done. I think its much more than that.

    • The contest is over, silly. It was taped several months ago, so nothing you say will change the outcome. You really are simple.

  3. I think viewing the mechanics of the teams working together is vital to a fair judging format in fairness to all. Please give this idea some thought and open your eyes to the whole picture so you can really see what is going on. I have noted that you have eliminated some designers who were good and who didn't want to get into a fist fight with Cathy. It is really a sad sight and hard for us (the viewers) to see this abuse continue. I do hope to hear from you on this point……………………………………Sososimple (tomi822@yahoo.com)

  4. Sometimes it seems as if the judges are a bit intimidated that Kathy has won awards in her past and therefore they don't want to chastise her, but I know she will eventually be sent home. Good working with people skills is very necessary and she just doesn't have it

  5. If in fact Cathy's blatant disregard for personal integrity is ignored by HGTV decision makers, then I have certainly been deceived in believing that HGTV values such core virtues. Her CONTINUOUS derogatory treatment of ALL other Design Star candidates is absolutely infuriating. Although she may shine in front of the camera, even there the "I" and "me" factor is ALWAYS overwhelmingly present. She has made a few tasteful purchases but I have yet to see the slightest hint of a creative edge that would inspire me to watch a "Cathy Hobbs Show". Her design skills are mediocre at best and quite frankly week after week of viewing her arrogant and pushy behavior has made me wonder if she is allowed to remain simply to add drama to the show.

  7. Hey all, not to be a party pooper here. But many of us have complained the show has turned into drama instead of design. If we are saying we are more about design, then maybe we should show our interest on this blog where they ask us for design commentaries here. It seems there's plenty of other places in this blog area of their website for comments about how the designers are performing.
