FINALLY !!!!! I've watched the show from the begining and have seen Cathy only do two things, design so-so and irritate anyone around her.
I was shocked when I saw her exit interview. According to her, she's terrific. She doesn't really think that, does she ?
Too bad she didn't get dumped much earlier. That would have been a cause for celebration !
cynthia on August 16, 2011 at 2:23 pm
LOL.. Sooo true! I think it is kinda funny that she thought she did such a great job. When clearly it was the most Horrific Failure in the room. (and granted.. there definitely were some other failures) but OMG! She couldn't shop her way out of that one. She is clearly not a designer. I've labeled her the "Shopping Reporter" and I'm so glad she is gone. Maybe we can see the others step up now that she is not overpowering anyone with her degrees, career and magazines. I really really hope everyone votes for ANY other designer than her. If she maintains second place… I'm sorry to say the Witch will be back! Yikes!
It was long over due. Instead of talking about what you have done she should have shown it. I have often been told let your work speak for itself. She was not a team player and didn't respect her teammates. That is not good when you have to work with others. She did way to much with her eyes when talking. I would have not watched her show.

I am so glad Cathy is gone. She is so full of herself and always takes the credit for the good but cannot accept that she just doesn't have what it takes to be a Design Star!
Karen Coffey on August 16, 2011 at 7:16 pm
Cathy's table was dreadful……sdcale was off and nothing made any sense at all……maybe it is a new global style??????? Of ocurse, it was lilac…that must be the new global color?????
DAN on August 17, 2011 at 1:07 pm
My opinion is that Cathy should have gone about 3 episodes ago. Unfortunately, her partners as far as I could see did not really say what they wanted to to the judges. Yes, some of her ideas were great but on several ocassions she did not, would not listen to the working partner. Instead in many instances her attitude was IT WILL BE DONE THIS WAY………..wait you have a partner & they have ideas also maybe not all to your liking but they should have at least been listened to. Also, Cathy always left the working parts to the partners involved & she would go shopping purchasing what she liked without the INPUT of the WORKING PARTNER.
I'm so glad she is gone. Hopefully the others will pick up the slack. I would love to see Megan really come out in the next couple of shows – also Mark.
June P on August 18, 2011 at 4:59 pm
She was so full of herself and then tried to blame it on everyone else. Not one designer was able to get along with her and I don't blame them. She is so demanding and a mediocre designer.
Bonnie on August 23, 2011 at 4:06 pm
SO glad she is gone. late in replying but I was thrilled to watch this week and NOT see Cathy and her bad attitude!
Rosa on August 23, 2011 at 7:14 pm
This was a daunting challenge. I loved the lighting of the room but the table settings were strictly catering house standard. Kellie's ceiling decoration was imaginative. I can't believe Karl was trying to make a case because he installed it. A good carpenter could do the installation! I am impressed with Mark's listening to what the client (Val) is saying, and came up with the skateboard wall design. Overall, I think Kellie and Mark have the most potential, followed by Meg. I as SOOO grateful that we have seen the last of Cathy. She did not impress. She seemed to lean too much on past accomplishments and not on good design concepts.
saviors girl on August 16, 2011 at 9:24 am
Hated the challenge. It was painful to watch. Unfair comment for Karl…..because other contestants have been put in the bottom for not being able to execute their ideas (ie: Mark in the first episode with his headboards or Kelly and Mark in the the kitchen challenge when boo hoo she couldn't get her penny tiles on both back splashes). If Karl did not execute her big idea……….who would have done it? I didn't see any carpenters on hand to help her or any designer for that fact. Karl is one of the few who seems to have both good ideas and can execute. In the real world we would all hire out the work that we couldn't do. But this is DS…..Mark had an idea and executed. Karl is guilty of most likely being a nice guy and wanting to get the challenge done, and in this case for a bride and grooms reception. Thought Mark and Kevin's groom's room was great. So wrong for an intimate wedding reception. Skateboards are cute and great for the home, NOT a wedding reception!
Rosebud2005 on August 16, 2011 at 5:37 pm
WOW. If you listened closely I thought there was supposed to be ORANGE and YELLOW Ceiling Swags. Did they even buy YELLOW fabric? Victorian… ORANGE…LUCITE…SKATEBOARDS and HUGE PATTERNED DRUM SHADES. I actually thought VICTORIAN was CUT CRYSTAL, EMBROIDERED LINENS, and flowers that actually SPOKE of LOVE, COMMITMENT and HOPE for the FUTURE.. Forsythia means ANTICIPATION. YUCK, YUCk! YUCK! Plus many folks are allergic to it! Where were the ROSES, GARDENIAS, maybe TULIPS? They actually used LILIES, they were used for FUNERALS. COME ON. Aren't they in NYC? And they couldn't do better flowers than that? Was it a BUDGET ISSUE?
V J on August 16, 2011 at 7:57 pm
CHARLES D…..VILLAGE PEOPLE…..HE DOES LIKE THE 70S WITH THE WOOD PANELING, MACRAME WALL HANGINGS, ETC……..MAYBYE YOU ARE ON TO SOMETHING.
danny on August 21, 2011 at 4:51 pm
VJ…EXCELLENT THOUGHTS AGAIN. AGREE…DID NOT SEE MUCH VICTORIAN ANYWHERE….THE CUT, OVERSIZE MIRRORS WERE GREAT THOUGH. COLORS WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL OR SHOULD I SAY LACK OF……RED OR A NICE DEEP GREEN WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN ORANGE I'D SAY? FLOWERS WERE NOT THAT BAD BUT AGREE THEY WERE NOT INSPIRING THE BIVE WE WERE LOOKING FOR.
danny on August 21, 2011 at 4:54 pm
These competition shows are filmed back-to-back in production, so the pressure is absolutely waylaying Karl. I wish he could collect his emotions and get in the GAME. I'm embarrassed for him, that he couldn't figure out how to cool his jets and come across as a grateful and cooperative player.
SteveDenver on August 21, 2011 at 10:44 pm
For a wedding that was supposed to be somewhat Victorian with bright colors, this room seemed really subdued. I really like the fabric on the ceiling because it hid the industrial elements and made the room smaller. There could have been much more color on the tables with plates of interesting shapes. Personally, I did not think Karl's flowers were that bad. It was the men's area afterall.
lizP on August 16, 2011 at 10:02 am
so, because it was the men's area the shabby flowers is okay? Sounds a little sexist. Hmmm…
arealdesigner on August 18, 2011 at 2:58 pm
LIZP….YES, CORRECT…I HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHY NONE OF THE DESIGNERS DIDN'T ASK DAVID ABOUT COLOR FOR THIS ROOM????? ISN'T THAT STRANGE…HE WOULD HAVE REALLY HELPED THEM…..MAYBE THEY DON'T ASK FOR ADVICE ENOUGH……
danny on August 21, 2011 at 8:13 pm
Cathy has appeared as boastful, arrogant, rude, uncooperative and downright unlikeable. Would anyone want to watch her on HGTV? Personality does matter! Her departure was a decision that was overdue. Kellie's ceiling was spectacular; it made the room! She decorates with her talent & her heart!
learningbunches on August 16, 2011 at 10:05 am
I agree Cathy's departure was way overdue. For someone who said she had three weddings published in magazines, she showed no creativity in her table settings or sweet heart table. Boring!
And she was so mean and snobbish towards the other contestants. I would NOT watch her show. Good riddance!
Carol on August 16, 2011 at 11:54 am
We could not see a real person in Cathy. She always seemed scripted or bossy. I saw her as a bully. Too bad she could not be more humble and real. Maybe she doesn't have those character traits??
jbbatwot on August 16, 2011 at 2:03 pm

I couldn't agree more!! I did not like Cathy at all. She wouldn't even listen to others and share in their ideas, she knew everything and it had to be her way. I am SO glad she is FINALLY gone!!!!!!! Should have been gone the first week she didn't get along with the other designers. She is so text book on her designs, no imagination.
DR25 on August 21, 2011 at 6:29 pm
O.K. really glad Cathy was finally kicked off the island! But what's up with Mark? With the exception of the White Room Challenge he focuses on one project which I never think amount to much. And yet, the judges fawned over his limp rope laddder, which looked like a net hung on the wall. This week his skateboard mobile left poor Kevin running around like a chicken to do most of the work. He may have suggested where to light the space, but he didn't do the electrical. Is it me, or does this guy have serious time management issues.
CharlesD on August 16, 2011 at 10:06 am
So totally agree. I think the skateboard "sculpture" was poorly executed, took way too much time and did not pay off in terms of design. I wonder why Vern gets all giggly when he talks about any of Mark's projects. I did not care for the rope ladder either.
Robert K on August 16, 2011 at 10:59 am
YES, MARK THE GOLDEN BOY…..PROBABLY NOT FOR MUCH LONGER…..A DIVA???????
DAN on August 18, 2011 at 1:54 pm
Yes, finally someone thinking like I do. They are ooooohing and aaaaahing over Mark's contribution week after week, and it's really nothing great. He'll be the winner of this competition, I know it. If I may be quite frank, he could have left with Blanche in episode 1. His unfinished headboard and side table combo was absurd. That room was a disaster. His white box challenge was fine, but Tyler's design was by far superior to Mark's. Let's not forget how he failed with Doug. Why he felt it necessary to apply wood to the wall, which looked like crap, instead of designing the room, is another example of how he skates by. Speaking of skating, that skateboard hanging piece of whatever was just as bad as his time consuming rope ladder. There is no way this guy could host a show, unless it's a series "How to Build One Thing a Day". That about sums up Mark.
Connie on August 16, 2011 at 11:05 am
Right there with ya on Mark. Nice guy and all, but jeez……how many challenges does it take before he is called on the carpet….or rope ladder, or skateboard ladder…for squandering away time on one design element at the cost of the overall design execution of…..yup, 3 challenges? Awful beds I could build in a day. His rope doo-dad that took up "the rest of day two". And…….WORST, the incredibly sad room makeover attempt with(out) Doug. Sorry, but that would have been a double-elimenation night for me!!! Great ideas Mark, just never a complete design…..EVER!!!! Helllo Judges!!!!!
Sherry Ray on August 16, 2011 at 11:54 am
LOL! I agree. I think you are right. He even said that a few times on previous episodes about his time management issues. He likes to take his time to do things and sometimes it does not work in his favor. I can't imagine how he would function in a glass room challenge.
What I think Mark has done a good job of week after week is he manages to get that one element in the room that is distinctly his point of view (and not just a piece he shopped for). Granted the skateboard mobile didn't turn out great but the concept wasn't bad – he listened to what his client wanted. Had he just been able to move himself along faster he might have gotten more 'bang for the buck'
It seemed clear to me, the boys weren't playing well this week. It showed in the lack of flow in that men's lounge area. The transition from the bar area with the lights and the mirrors to the couches seemed disjointed. That nasty brown divider ewe. And why all brown? It was brown on brown on brown except for the light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. I loved how they were hung to mimic the shape of the spiral staircase. That was done well. But they could have chosen different fabric and some richer tones rather than plaid! However, they only had 2 days. A commendable effort guys. You pulled it off and the most important part, your clients were happy.
fanfair123 on August 16, 2011 at 12:18 pm
I agree with CharlesD. One good idea does not a design make. The skateboard "hanging" ended up on the far wall behind very strange lamps which no one addressed–and he gets praised because he honors the groom's hobby in a wedding reception? Weird. A scary feature of these "designers" is their inability to manage their time. In a design challenge of any kind, time is of the essence. I know that the "pros" sometimes have to rush as well, but the time crunch usually comes from sudden discoveries of hornets' nests, disconnected vents, drainage problems, or collapsing infrastructures, not because they simply planned stupidly and wasted twenty minutes spouting off about their past accomplishments. Judges, speak up!
Waiting for tips on August 16, 2011 at 2:44 pm
Marks appeal probably has most to do with the opinion that he is telegenic- even Paula Dean is gushing over his "cute as a button" looks. I agree he has talent , but I think his talents are overstated. Other than the white room challenge- has he been responsible for pulling off the look of an entire room- rather than just a single design element? I suspect the judges/network favor Mark to win the entire series and their response to each of his designs has to fits that script/story. There have been flaws with his work in past episodes that appear to be ignored. I do not believe the judges would have tolerated the same time management and design issues from other challengers. I wholeheartedly agree that their response to the rope hanging is baffling. That was a major time waster that added little to the room as a whole.
I also wonder if it is a strategy to get other designers eliminated. The more time he takes on the pet project (which he will finish) the less time for the other designer elements to get done (i.e. tile backsplashes) . As for the skateboard design, that might work in a family room or home office- but seemed out of place in a wedding- groom's room or not.
Cherie on August 16, 2011 at 7:13 pm
I so agree with all. Mark has to put a LADDER looking thing in just about every challenge, sans the AIRPLANE/white challenge. I can't think of any room where I want a ladder or ladder-looking model/sculpture. I didn't know which one was worse – the horribly executed rope one for a B & B or that shelf/ladder looking thing in the FARMHOUSE kitchen.
V J on August 16, 2011 at 8:04 pm
HA! I didn't notice the fixation on ladders till you said it! So true!
I really don't like his stylings and especailly don't like how he leaves all the grunt work to the others. While he labors the entire time on one of his pitiful "creations" in one small part of the room. That isn't fair to the others. .
BananaNana on August 17, 2011 at 4:01 pm
And here I thought he was just into wood because he tells us that ALL THE TIME. But you are right! It's the ladder! LOL! Maybe if he makes it to the glass room challenge (if there is one this season) he will put a "ladder-like" sculpture made of wood going all the way up to heaven! Wouldn't that be just fab? Hehe :p
fanfair123 on August 17, 2011 at 9:01 pm
Maybe Vern has a crush on him. I think he looks like a Castro Street/ Christopher Street guy from the 70's. Where's the Izod Lacoste shirt with the collar flipped up and the Sergio Valente jeans?
CharlesD on August 18, 2011 at 3:38 pm
VERN DOES REALLY THINK MARK IS GREAT FOR SOME REASON
DAN on August 18, 2011 at 4:40 pm
Ohhh that thought has crossed my mind a couple of times. He left Izod and Sergio at home. It didn't make him look brawny enough. Not like the plaid – the plaid matches the wood and the beard. LOL!
I keep thinking with his beard and all, "Are the judges thinking he kind of reminds them of Bob Vila from This Old House or something?" I wonder.
fanfair123 on August 19, 2011 at 3:18 am
CHARLES D…YES, VERN LOVES MARK
danny on August 21, 2011 at 4:16 pm

danny on August 21, 2011 at 11:44 am
Agreed, Cathy needed to go, weeks ago. I agree with you're assessment of Mark. He should have followed through with the backsplash Kelli chose for the kitchen challenge. I thought his flooring on the backsplash did not look good at all. I was one of those not-well-designed quick fixes that didn't work. Then the wimpy rope ladder thing on the wall. It could have been cute, but it just hung there. It was a good concept but not excuted well. This week with the skate board thing? Eh… Jury is still out on that one. Overall, soooo glad Cathy is outa there!!!!
desi164 on August 18, 2011 at 7:57 pm
DESI164…YES, MARK TENDS TO BE VERY SLOW AND ALSO LIKES TO MAKE THOSE LITTLE PROJECTS….SO WHAT? THE JUDGES LIKE HIM BECASUE HE IS YOUNG AND RATHER ATTRACTIVE SO THAT IS A LOT OF IT , I'D SAY…AGAIN SO WHAT? I THINK HE NEEDS TO GET WITH THE REST OF THE TEAM AND MAKE BETTER CONTRIBUTIONS…HE LEFT DURING THE LOUNGE AND DIDN NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THAT, HE WAS PLAYING WITH THE SKATEBOARD WALL HANGING INSTEAD OF HELPING, JUST A BAD TREND GOING ON THERE
danny on August 21, 2011 at 11:41 am
YES, SKATEBOARDING…AND ROPE CLIMBING THEMES ARE CLEVER TO A POINT BUT STILL…………
danny on August 21, 2011 at 4:17 pm
I respectfully disagree – and not just because Genevieve and Candice Olson (http://blog.hgtv.com/design-star/2011/08/15/candices-recap-episode-6/) also think his design choices are good. Mark consistently adds elements that you do not expect but are fitting for the context and are unique. I do not LOVE the rope ladder, but it fit the room, the B&B setting, and was unexpected. I think the skateboard ladder was similarly a surprise but again it worked – height, shape, lighting, drama and NOT a friggin' side table with a silver overlay and a silver mirror. If you review his portfolio, you'll see that yes, he loves wood, and who cares? He has a clear aesthetic, good taste level and fills the rooms with sleek and modern design, warm woods, and original touches.
WWLL on August 19, 2011 at 12:44 am
Actually. I saw Mark's portfolio. And I would have to agree. Although the portfolio's for this season's design star seems unremarkable overall. I remember thinking Mark did have a point of view and he was one of a few I liked. But what concerns me is how long it takes him to get his projects done. It would be nice to see him produce the kind of stuff he has in his portfolio and not a dinky rope ladder (which took him 8 hours and who doesn't know how to make knots really) or the skateboard mobile (which also took him forever and left Kevin to design the rest of the room).
C'mon Mark! Show us your stuff and work a little faster.
fanfair123 on August 19, 2011 at 12:07 pm
I took another look at Mark's portfolio. His designs do have a unique point of view, more so than most of the other designers on DS6. And he's really talented. But we can't see it on the show because of his time management issues!
C'mon Mark! Get your head out of the pigeon coup and wow us for real already!
fanfair123 on August 19, 2011 at 4:07 pm
fanfair 123….YES, LIKE MANY OTHERS, I AGREE WITH THAT MARK WALL HANGING BUSINESS. IT IS FINE TO HAVE A CERTAIN PASSION AND INTEREST (WOOD AND TEXTILES) , BUT THAT DOES NOT REPLACE GOOD DESIGN AND TEAMWORK…THIS IS A CHALLENGE, NOT A ONE-MAN SHOW. MAYBE HE WILL GET OVER ALL THIS AND GET BUSY THIS NEXT WEEK

Karen Coffey on August 16, 2011 at 7:18 pm
As both an interior decorator and an owner of a thirty five year event rental compnay… I was totally underwhelmed by this challenge. These designers have NY city to work in!! The bride was very clear on colors and the seating and sweetheart tables had silver overlays. The boasting above about Kellie's ceiling treatment–that has been done to death (fifteen years ago). The flowers were the worst part I thought! They looked like Walmart mixed bouquets! Love David Bromstad still!!
kim on August 16, 2011 at 10:14 am
And I suppose you've also been published in "national magazines."
Pixie on August 16, 2011 at 11:06 am
Kellie is another designer who skates by, just like Mark. Her whiney voice drives me nuts. The fabric tent, whatever you want to call it, has been done so many times before, who cares to see it again. The cake she chose looked like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland, not Victorian or romantic. I'm anxously awaiting for her exit too, as I do not like her arrogant demeanor. Oh and if I may add, she could have left with Brett for that lousy B&B the two of them designed. What a failure.
Connie on August 16, 2011 at 11:16 am
Connie, I am anxiously awaiting your departure!
hitterous on August 18, 2011 at 8:48 am
I have to agree with Connie about Kellie. She's not much of a designer nor an artist. The judges are keeping her because of her efforts, and her tears, not her accomplishments, or lack there of. If you're a fan of hers, why not humor me and tell me what you think is so great about her work.
Dewolla on August 18, 2011 at 11:45 am
Arrogant?!?!!? Kellie??? I think you are talking about Cathy. I like Kellie's ideas, Cathy is the one that is so boring !!!! All of her stuff is just a repeat of what has been seen before.
DR25 on August 21, 2011 at 6:32 pm
Yes, I do think Kellie is arrogant, sorry. When someone thinks they are better than they actually are, then yes, they are arrogant. The most humble of the designers is Karl. It's rather ironic because he appears to be the most innovative and talented of all the designers. Meg is a close second. Just my opinion. Sorry, not a big fan of Kellies.
Connie on August 22, 2011 at 12:01 am
KELLIE IS FAR SUPERIOR THAN CATHY ON HER WORSE DAY….COME ON…….
danny on August 22, 2011 at 5:38 pm
Hey Danny, I WASN'T COMPARING CATHY AND KELLIE, SO WHY ARE YOU???????????? If anyone I might have compared her to in my above post, is Karl. He's humble, she's not. She's emotional, I'll give her that. Where on earth you got Cathy from is beyond me. Have fun watching the show tonight. I will.
Connie on August 22, 2011 at 6:53 pm
I agree. Wasn't the wedding reception ugly? Agree about David Bromstad. Evidence that somewhere, somehow, design stars are located. He is still not Tim Gunn . . . but no one can match the clever observations of Tim Gunn.
Waiting for tips on August 16, 2011 at 2:46 pm
kim, I thought the same thing. NYC and THIS is what they deliver?? I do wonder though WHY if the aim is to find a DESIGN S-T-A-R does this show purposefully sabotage each challenge. This week, they all were supposed to harmonize. GOTTA IT. At the end of it, I felt like HGTV was telling the WORLD, Don't wait until the LAST MINUTE to hire a PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER and think they can save your wedding reception! I personally would like this show to explain BUDGET more in EACH episode. Surely they had one, didn't they? Understanding who got what to work with and WHO DECIDED may actually help to explain the results better imo. ALSO helps all of us understand just which designers can produce terrific results regardless of budget. I kept thinking THOSE FLOWERS? Were ROSES, GARDENIAS, TULIPS too expensive? I think the lighting probably ate up a lot of the budget and since this is TV, it was an area the producers would have wanted to make sure was done right. Just wondering aloud…
V J on August 17, 2011 at 8:35 am
yeah Kim but have you been published in three national magazines?
swampdonkey on August 18, 2011 at 8:45 am
So far in every season, the designers who try to push others around gets the boot. I would think that any designer who wants to compete on this show and has watched in the past would pick up on that one little detail. Great job judges!
Anita on August 16, 2011 at 10:19 am
Antonio was pushy but yet won his season. Candace seemed to adore him. Of course he had the talent to back up the vision he insisted upon with his follow contestants. I thought he was obnoxious at first, but he has grown on me since then and he does same great work here in L.A.
Moonbeam on August 16, 2011 at 8:58 pm
I love Antonio and admire him for insisting on no beige and the pink ducks. He's a rebel, but one with a cause.
Trisha on August 18, 2011 at 11:47 am
Cathy showed once again that she is a lot of talking with no substance. Glad to see her leaving the show. Mark and Kellie keep showing both have what it takes to become the finalists. While Meg has been improving every week Karl and Leslie have not. Kevin's personality discualify him as a possible show host.
Justin Case on August 16, 2011 at 10:30 am
Mark did help Kevin pick out the furniture, I believe, before he went onto the skateboard project. But I was worried even in the beginning of the show when Mark mentioned again how he loves to work with wood, and I was afraid he would do something self-indulgent and time-consuming b/c of his love for wood. He upset Kellie last week b/c he was insisting on using wood instead of tile on the kitchen backsplash. She prevailed in getting tile, but then he took so long installing it that he ended up out of time to install it on the opposite wall and hastily put up the wood which originally wanted anyway, saying it was faster than tile. He insisted on building headboards during the first episode, which I believe David warned him he might not have time to do. Then he insisted on the wood wall in the previous episode, and Mrs. Novogratz suggested that perhaps he should have done that in another project at a later time. He has to branch out and get past his obsession with wood if he's going to progress in this competition. But at leas he and Kevin stuck together and over-rode Karl's objections; they bought what the groom wanted for the groom's lounge.
Moonbeam on August 16, 2011 at 9:04 pm
Meg and Kelly NEVER had to be CRIPPLED by working with CATHY. THINK ABOUT THAT. Designers need COLLABORATION not INTIMIDATION. And POOR KARL has been beaten up by the Judges for NOT ASSERTING HIMSELF. That is a LOSE/LOSE proposition. How exactly does one Play NICE and Fight to ENSURE YOUR DESIGN VOICE is HEARD at the same time? I personally would like to compare Cathy's past wedding work with Leslie's. (And I would like it disclosed if Cathy did the work or if her "company" which according to Cathy includes TALENTED DESIGNERS did the actual work.
Sorry, Cathy — this is what happens when someone who is not a sweetheart tries to design a sweetheart table. Bye-bye!
Thank God she went home little miss know it all

I am so glad Cathy is gone. She is so full of herself and always takes the credit for the good but cannot accept that she just doesn't have what it takes to be a Design Star!
Cathy's table was dreadful……sdcale was off and nothing made any sense at all……maybe it is a new global style??????? Of ocurse, it was lilac…that must be the new global color?????
She was so full of herself and then tried to blame it on everyone else. Not one designer was able to get along with her and I don't blame them. She is so demanding and a mediocre designer.
SO glad she is gone. late in replying but I was thrilled to watch this week and NOT see Cathy and her bad attitude!
CHARLES D…..VILLAGE PEOPLE…..HE DOES LIKE THE 70S WITH THE WOOD PANELING, MACRAME WALL HANGINGS, ETC……..MAYBYE YOU ARE ON TO SOMETHING.
These competition shows are filmed back-to-back in production, so the pressure is absolutely waylaying Karl. I wish he could collect his emotions and get in the GAME. I'm embarrassed for him, that he couldn't figure out how to cool his jets and come across as a grateful and cooperative player.
It was the men's area afterall.
so, because it was the men's area the shabby flowers is okay? Sounds a little sexist. Hmmm…
I agree Cathy's departure was way overdue. For someone who said she had three weddings published in magazines, she showed no creativity in her table settings or sweet heart table. Boring!
And she was so mean and snobbish towards the other contestants. I would NOT watch her show. Good riddance!
We could not see a real person in Cathy. She always seemed scripted or bossy. I saw her as a bully. Too bad she could not be more humble and real. Maybe she doesn't have those character traits??
I totally agree, I would not have watched any show that Kathy hosted
You took the words right out of my mouth, so long Cathy, good riddance!
O.K. really glad Cathy was finally kicked off the island!
So totally agree. I think the skateboard "sculpture" was poorly executed, took way too much time and did not pay off in terms of design. I wonder why Vern gets all giggly when he talks about any of Mark's projects. I did not care for the rope ladder either.
YES, MARK THE GOLDEN BOY…..PROBABLY NOT FOR MUCH LONGER…..A DIVA???????
LOL!
HA! I didn't notice the fixation on ladders till you said it! So true!
I really don't like his stylings and especailly don't like how he leaves all the grunt work to the others. While he labors the entire time on one of his pitiful "creations" in one small part of the room. That isn't fair to the others. .
Hehe :p
Maybe Vern has a crush on him. I think he looks like a Castro Street/ Christopher Street guy from the 70's. Where's the Izod Lacoste shirt with the collar flipped up and the Sergio Valente jeans?
VERN DOES REALLY THINK MARK IS GREAT FOR SOME REASON
Ohhh that thought has crossed my mind a couple of times. He left Izod and Sergio at home. It didn't make him look brawny enough. Not like the plaid – the plaid matches the wood and the beard. LOL!
I keep thinking with his beard and all, "Are the judges thinking he kind of reminds them of Bob Vila from This Old House or something?" I wonder.
CHARLES D…YES, VERN LOVES MARK
VJ….Yes, that ladder theme….again. But Vern will just love it no matter how often that comes about!!!!!! If someone else did that, that person would be scolded and sent home in no time
Agreed, Cathy needed to go, weeks ago.
I THINK HE NEEDS TO GET WITH THE REST OF THE TEAM AND MAKE BETTER CONTRIBUTIONS…HE LEFT DURING THE LOUNGE AND DIDN NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THAT, HE WAS PLAYING WITH THE SKATEBOARD WALL HANGING INSTEAD OF HELPING, JUST A BAD TREND GOING ON THERE
YES, SKATEBOARDING…AND ROPE CLIMBING THEMES ARE CLEVER TO A POINT BUT STILL…………
I respectfully disagree – and not just because Genevieve and Candice Olson (http://blog.hgtv.com/design-star/2011/08/15/candices-recap-episode-6/) also think his design choices are good.
I took another look at Mark's portfolio. His designs do have a unique point of view, more so than most of the other designers on DS6. And he's really talented. But we can't see it on the show because of his time management issues!
C'mon Mark! Get your head out of the pigeon coup and wow us for real already!
fanfair 123….YES, LIKE MANY OTHERS, I AGREE WITH THAT MARK WALL HANGING BUSINESS.
So Happy Cathy is gone. I believe in HGTV again. One little spat tonight but hope it
doesn't turn into a male Cathy.
So glad Cathy is gone, i would never watch her show because she is great on camera challeneges but so rude in real life so whagt a fake person. i like kellie and mark the best there both very relatable and good designers
I agree with you completely!
And I suppose you've also been published in "national magazines."
Connie, I am anxiously awaiting your departure!
I have to agree with Connie about Kellie. She's not much of a designer nor an artist. The judges are keeping her because of her efforts, and her tears, not her accomplishments, or lack there of. If you're a fan of hers, why not humor me and tell me what you think is so great about her work.
Arrogant?!?!!? Kellie??? I think you are talking about Cathy. I like Kellie's ideas, Cathy is the one that is so boring !!!! All of her stuff is just a repeat of what has been seen before.
KELLIE IS FAR SUPERIOR THAN CATHY ON HER WORSE DAY….COME ON…….
I will.
I agree. Wasn't the wedding reception ugly? Agree about David Bromstad. Evidence that somewhere, somehow, design stars are located. He is still not Tim Gunn . . . but no one can match the clever observations of Tim Gunn.
kim, I thought the same thing. Just wondering aloud…
yeah Kim but have you been published in three national magazines?
So far in every season, the designers who try to push others around gets the boot. I would think that any designer who wants to compete on this show and has watched in the past would pick up on that one little detail. Great job judges!
Antonio was pushy but yet won his season. Candace seemed to adore him. Of course he had the talent to back up the vision he insisted upon with his follow contestants. I thought he was obnoxious at first, but he has grown on me since then and he does same great work here in L.A.
I love Antonio and admire him for insisting on no beige and the pink ducks. He's a rebel, but one with a cause.
Cathy showed once again that she is a lot of talking with no substance. Glad to see her leaving the show. Mark and Kellie keep showing both have what it takes to become the finalists. While Meg has been improving every week Karl and Leslie have not. Kevin's personality discualify him as a possible show host.
