David dishes on which space was the “one of the last places” he’d want to hang out. Plus, who he thinks isn’t listening.

So glad to see that pompous bitch go……I clapped to see her leave. No one wants to watch a braggert go on about all her experience and then see an obvious lack of talent. Those bug eyes were scary….I honestly think there is a lack of real talent this time around but at least those left are watchable……I do enjoy the show……

Seems Cathy is on a mission, along with the help of RESA president, to try and recreate her image after we all saw her "talent" imo. I don't care how many YOUTUBE videos are done or how many websites spring up, Cathy's stay on DESIGN STAR highlighted her flawed skills imo. I wouldn't let her in my home. I don't think I have seen anyone so EGOCENTRIC on Design STAR before. Clearly, Cathy is a STAR in HER MIND; unfortunately, that is as far as it goes for me.

True, Apples and VJ. Those bug eyes were scary, and if I were her, I would get a dentist to do that surgery where they can reduce gums so we can see more teeth. Bug eyes, gummy grin, annoying personality (and could use a chin implant, too). I thought the dishes she chose were lame, as was her table. Her trying to blame other people for her failings last night did not sit well with the judges, either. So much for Cathy's "global" perspective in design.
Moonbeam on August 16, 2011 at 9:23 pm
YES, THE FABUOLOUS GLOBAL COFFEE TABLE CATHY PICKED OUT…..ACCORDING TO THE JUDGES ANYWAY…….WHAT A LAME EXCUSE TO KEEP THAT NO-TALENT STAGER…I WON'T CREDIT HER AS A DESIGNER…..
danny on August 21, 2011 at 9:51 pm
I was surprised no one else mentioned Cathy's "bug eyes". Maybe she thought they made everything she said seem more important, but they kind of freaked me out, too.

All I have to say is DITTO to the comments made in almost every one of the people who commented on Cathy ……..if one truly has talent, you don't have to bring it to ones attention, they'll SEE it !
LaVerne on August 16, 2011 at 11:51 am
I was so so so so happy to see Cathy go, although watching the whole day with her there was long and annoying but when it was finally time to send someone home I actually thought for asplit second that they were going to tell her she was safe because there was three people standing there but then when they said we will not be producing your show it was like sweet ecstacy! Goodbye Cathy I'm sure not sorry to see you go!!

I love the loveseat David is sitting on!

Nice but very white!!!!!! Needs some color….It is Victorian after all.
DAN on August 17, 2011 at 10:44 am
What was Cathy babbling on and on and on about in her exit video? Can she really believe the c**p she's saying. No talent…..no personality….no humility! If you can't take critisism, then you shouldn't take credit either!!! Man up lady! Own everything or nothing…….bye!
Sherry Ray on August 16, 2011 at 12:08 pm
SHERRY…..YES, CATHY. COULDN'T WAIT TO DESIGN THOSE TABLES………LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!! OF COURSE, IT WAS BAD; SHE DOES NOT LISTEN…..I THINK THE MAGAZINE PUBLISHING BUSINESS MAKES HER FEEL SUPERIOR, THE TRUTH IS, SHE IS MEDIOCRE AT MOST IN WHAT SHE DOES. THE TABLES LOOKED LIKE A BAD TABLSECAPE AT SEEN AT A DISCOUNT JCPENNEYS DONE BY AN AMATEUR
DAN on August 22, 2011 at 12:53 pm
Thank you first of all for getting rid of the BRAGGER! As awedding and special event person I felt that there were many good ideas and executed quite well…mostly by the men…hmmmm. The ceiling treatment, I agree Kim that it has been done for years and nothing new, I did it 30 years ago. In a wedding situation you must listen to both the Bride and Groom, so the event is all about them. Mark did very well in listening and doing everything he could to make their dreams come true. Cudoes to Mark! Kelly, never having done a wedding before did very well in orchestrating the ceiling treatment, but with a wedding…Think out of the box! The tables and the sweetheart table were a literal disgrace, Victorian…I do not think so, but I think all the designers learned something and isn't that a good thing?
Good Bye Cathy! Thank you HGTV!!!

Now I can watch the show and not be distracted by the drama (hopefully). Right now with who are left, I do not know whose show I would watch. I was so blown away with Antonio, that I haven't seen anyone stand out like he did! Looking for that special Design Star!
CindyHon on August 16, 2011 at 12:11 pm
Oh I so agree, Anonio is the BEST and the most unique designer ever! He is a breath of fresh air.
I have the feeling right now that Mark might be another one like Antonio with fresh new ideas.
Susan on August 16, 2011 at 3:50 pm
the one stand out you did not mention is David Bromstad – Antonio is great, I agree but David is the best!
jocelyne on August 16, 2011 at 4:48 pm
Not sad to see Cathy leave – she couldnt get along with anyone! And she wouldnt listen to anyone elses ideas, If she wasnt in charge of everything she playing diva
jacki on August 16, 2011 at 12:19 pm
Exactly! And the judges didn't even call her on her inability to cooperate. Glad she's gone. But I wonder what "wood thing" will keep Mark from being a team player next?
Totsy on August 16, 2011 at 3:11 pm
Kelli and Mark make a great team….loved last weeks farmhouse design…..thats saying quite a bit, since I would NEVER buy a house with a galley kitchen
jacki on August 16, 2011 at 12:22 pm
Yeah, well, no galley is ever that wide!
Totsy on August 16, 2011 at 3:13 pm
Absolutely so true! I didn't like it. That ladder/shelf/whatever seemed ODD. The color pallette for a farmhouse kitchen, especially with that red teapot, could have been so CLEAN and HAPPY and BRIGHT! Instead, it was dark, drab, mostly BROWN, and mismatched. I can see mismatched/coordinated chairs – just not THOSE in a farmhouse – sheafback or windsor back or… so many incredible TRADITIONAL chair and table configurations to explore. Does the company that they use on this show just not have any HAPPY, CLEAN, TRADITIONAL cabinet choices????
V J on August 16, 2011 at 5:55 pm
At least Kelly stuck to her guns and insisted on tile, whereas Mark had been planning to do an entire wood backsplash.
Moonbeam on August 16, 2011 at 9:25 pm
MOONBEAM….YES, AGAIN…..WOOD PANELING…VERY 70S LIKE THE FISH NETTING AND THAT SKATEBOARD THING……ALL KIND OF OVERDONE. MARK WANTS TO DO RATHER ODD THINGS LIKE CATHY DID…..I THINK HE HAS SOME TALENT BUT NOT COMING THOUGH VERY WELL…..VERN NEEDS TO QUIT PRAISING HIM FOR THESE CHOICES!!!
danny on August 21, 2011 at 4:31 pm
MOONBEAM…..YOU ARE CORRECT…KELLI WAS VERY IRRITATED AT HIS SLOW PACE AND THEN, HE COULDN'T EVEN GET IT ALL DONE…THAT PANELING IS BAD AND DARK….BUT HE LOVES THAT RETRO WOOD THEME; EVERYONE IS NOW TAKING IT DOWN OR PAINTING IT.
danny on August 21, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Bring Tyler Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
J.B on August 16, 2011 at 12:35 pm
I agree! His WHITE BOX challenge really showed he was a DESIGNING FORCE. He should have never gone home so early. Cathy should have gone that week. And Kevin, the DRAMA QUEEN, needed to go this week. I don't equate DESIGN STAR with Kitch. Kitch is defined as INFERIOR. And watching that "man" on TV is grueling. The Judges really screwed up this year IMO. Maybe OWN will grab up Tyler! Someone should. I would definitely WATCH him. Right now, I would watch Leslie, Karl, or Mark. I think Meg and Kelly are decorators, not really designers. And their decoration toolbox is sparce imo. Leslie and Karl have been crippled by CATHY! How did Meg and Kelly avoid her?? I am finally LOOKING FORWARD to NEXT WEEK. Though I wish Tyler was there…
V J on August 16, 2011 at 5:49 pm
I agree. Tyler went too early and Cathy too late. I also believe that Cathy actually kept the other designers from achieving their best. I'm reserving judgement, but I haven't really seen a standout. I did like Tyler's white box the best. It was truly creative. I also believe if more time were allowed, better design and execution would result.
