Goodbye, Cathy

Three National Magazines

Despite the fact that her wedding was featured in “three national magazines,” Cathy’s drab tablescapes and un-romantic sweetheart table made the judges say “We will not be producing your show.” But she’s not going without a fight! See what she has to say about going home.

What do you think about Cathy’s exit interview? Tell us in the comments below.

  1. Cathy….just listened to your exit interview and at the end of the day you were the one who was obnoxious and prideful. You were the only problem from the first episode and if you read all the above comments the viewers totally go it.

    • I totally agree…a person knows when they make mistakes. She knew when she messed up. It's really bad when a person isn't mature enough to say "my bad" and apologize for their actions. She kept running over people like a steamroller. It was sad to see how she treated people and to hear the way she spoke to them. I laughed when she told Kevin "don't you ever talk to me that way again" Well if you don't treat people badly then you won't be treated badly….I can imagine what went on behind the scenes….

    • You have said it the best – how insightful!

    • Cathy is to be pitied because she can not see her own faults. She only sees the faults in others. I wonder how her poor husband gets along with her. She is a very delusional person too.

    • I would have sent her home after the first showing!

  2. I agree that it is good Cathy is gone. Much too late for her. I agree with the other coments. Yeah– she's gone

phyllis on August 17, 2011 at 2:16 pm
  3. I'm sooo happy she is gone also. Incridibly arrogant. I can never understand on these rality shows how they common denominator always thinks is everyone elses fault. I'm sorry but her designs on this show were very basic. The only thing I will remember her for is her arrogance, and strewing up in the kitchen challenge, can't believe she even pulled that one off

    tishtash28 on August 17, 2011 at 2:22 pm
    • After the Kitchen Challenge I was sure Cathy would be gone. She commented her staging experience influenced how she decorated the kitchen counters. Staging & Decorating are opposites however, "clutter" is not an element of either.
I was curious about Cathy's decorating decisions, appalled by her inability to play well with others and dismayed the panel kept her.

    • Surely she was a legend in her own mind.

  4. I cannot believe how so many people who post comments are totally in sync with one another! We all feel exactly the same and I'm not even going to bother to make my own comments because everyone has already said them.
However…I just have to say one thing, YAY, she's GONE! GONE, BABY, GONE.

    • amen to that!

  5. Finally Cathy is out. Although based on her arrogance, She probably thinks we are a bunch of morons! Moving on, I like Mark but, I feel he's the favorite of the judges. I want to see what he can brings, so far he's good. Mark I would like to see your design style more than your art work,. Mark I feel you are the judges boy, so show more to the audience.

Sisi on August 17, 2011 at 2:43 pm
    • I like many of Mark's design ideas that he has done BUT, he goes off on his own and takes a huge amount of time working on and finishing these little projects. If I were his partner on the projects where he does this, I would be so angry that he leaves everything else to be finished by me, his partner.

      • ditto, not a team player

lori on August 18, 2011 at 6:18 pm
      • I agree..
But he's attractive. So people would watch a show about him doing an art project.

        J. Miller on August 18, 2011 at 9:34 pm
    • YES, MARK…HE NEEDS TO QUIT PLAYING WITH THOSE LITTLE PROJECTS…..AND HELP OTHERS GET THE JOB DONE……I DON;T THINK HE CAN PRODUCE MUCH IF ON HIS OWN….

danny on August 18, 2011 at 10:10 pm
    • He does seem to spent alot of time on one project and not much else. One project does not fill a room!

SHVincent on August 19, 2011 at 11:20 pm
    • Have to agree, Mark is also a "self-focused" person and tries to do a "last-minute thing" ignoring everyone else! It will catch up to him. Others will begin to see this as well…I hope! Putting the wood on the back splash, the skateboard, etc. His time will come and I would have a hard time watching him on a show!

  6. THANK GOD! FINALLY! COULDNT STAND HER ANOTHER EPISODE! ARROGANT AND UNBEARABLE! WELL DONE JUDGES!!!!!

valani on August 17, 2011 at 3:07 pm
    • I have to agree with all of the other bloggers. Cathy is her own worse enemy! NO ONE was back stabbing her, she was just so busy bull dozing everyone else that it seems what she is projecting onto the others is what she did! Eleanor Rose

Eleanor Rose on August 18, 2011 at 4:00 pm
    • It sounds like the folks watching all came to the same conclusion, ARROGENT, SELF-CENTERED, NON-TALENTED! I am so very happy to see Cathy gone. I just could not take another episode of her non-teaming, over bearing, defeating attitude. She ruined every design by her attitude and non-teaming work ethics. If I were looking for a designer I would never choose her. Who can work with her? She just proved to everyone that they would never be able to work with her on any projects. Designers need to work together with their clients. At the end of the day, she had no talent.

LDR on August 18, 2011 at 4:35 pm
    • Not much else to add to other comments except from the first episode all I thought about her was "what an ass". Glad to not have the drama she caused.

    • Right On!

    • I hated those wide bug-eyed deer-in-the-headlites look and her arrogance. She was disrespectful to the other contestants and acted as if she was better then them. Good choice judges!

Bill on August 19, 2011 at 8:32 am
    • I was so hoping Cathy would be the one to leave. Can you imagine her working with a crew and assistants??!! NEVER–THEY WOULD ALL QUIT. Best decision yet.

    • Kathy has good verbal communication skills and is probably a good designer, however, it was apparent from the start that she is very controlling and not a very good team player. She really does not have a clue. All the things she is referring to are the things she was doing to other people. Pronouncing to David Bromstead about her publications and him saying we are really going to watch you; she set up her own demise. It was like she was insinuating that she should win with no contest. Needless to say I was not disappointed to see her go. I think the judges had had enough as well.

  7. Sooo glad Cathy got the boot. I actually jumped up and cheered when her name was called. I have never done that to a tv show. I would boycott any show she is on. Hope to NEVER see those UGLY BUG eyes again.

    • I am glad Cathy is no longer on the show, but I think it is rude and insensitive to make comments about someone's physical characteristics. God gave her those.

  8. Riiiiight, Cathy…. Your the only one that is not wrong – but hundreds of others are…

You need to get over your pitiful self. And forget about getting your own show – you're just not that good. And no one would watch it. I wouldn't want your boring designs anywhere in my home. As if you would even listen to me or do anything I wanted… HA! Buy-by Cathy….

BananaNana on August 17, 2011 at 4:24 pm
  9. Why was she not chastised early on by the judges for her behavior, attitude and always throwing others under the bus? She's a cobra. I had decided this was the last episode I would watch, if she remained. I'd had all of her I could stand. If she had her own show, I would choose the TV Test Pattern over it. Who would hire her? Can you imagine what those interactions would be like? She needs a coach if she thinks bugging out her eyes is complimentary. How appropriate to ax her on the wedding show after we all gagged at her nauseous comments about her so-called credentials. Meg showed great character in her actions.

Sharon on August 17, 2011 at 4:29 pm
    • oh my gosh I was wondering how non of the judges said anything to her all these weeks. At first I thought maybe she knew something about design but that was the first episode. After that she proved that she was arrogant and not a team player. She should have been booted off the 3rd episode, just for her behavior. Anyway, I waited all week last week, set my DVR, hoping they would vote her off.

Daniella on August 17, 2011 at 8:03 pm
    • You expressed my feelings exactly! This was going to be my last episode – couldn't stand another minute of Cathy – and I'm glad I got to see the moment when she was cut from the show.

Jacky on August 19, 2011 at 10:25 am
    • YES, MEG ACTUALLY TRIED TO HELP CATHY……YOU SEE HOW CATHY TRIED TO BLAME MEG FOR DOING A BAD JOB AFTER THAT……ENOUGH SIAD

DAN on August 19, 2011 at 2:19 pm
    • Unfortunately, I am sure HGTV kept her on this long due to ratings. Drama and bitchiness entices viewing (circa The Bachelor/Bachelorette type shows). Too bad for HGTV for falling into this trap. Thank goodness the wicked witch is gone!

Andrea on August 20, 2011 at 7:27 am
    • I was a week ahead of you, Sharon, I didn't watch Monday night because I could stand any more of her. My wife sneaked upstairs to catch the end of it, then came dancing into the family room saying, 'Cathy got cut. Cathy got cut'. So I've watched it 'on demand' twice this week.

Rickapolis on August 20, 2011 at 6:24 pm
    • Both my husband and I said that if she stayed any longer we were going to find something else to watch. Just couldn't stand her any more. I am glad that I can look forward to watching again
I am wondering if she watches her own show? If there was any behavior that no one should be proud of- it was hers.

  10. I can't tell you how happy I am she is gone! I watched her exit interview and she is delusional! If I had to listen to her say her wedding designs were in 3 national magazines one more time last night I would have had a migrane, I rolled my eyes up into my head everytime she said it and by the last time my head was throbbing! I could not have watched her one more week. I am just so happy she is finally gone. Now the other designers can finally do thier stuff!
