David on the Finale: “Can You Handle This Moment?!”

David dishes on what it was like to be in the elimination room while the judging panel deliberated. Plus, why his heart was beating “1000 times a minute” and what is “the golden ticket for fabulous.”
What did you think of the season finale? Did you think the right designer won out? Tell us in the comments below.

Thanks HGTV for putting the spoilers on the HGTV home page and the Design Star main page (that's sarcasm btw). It sort of ruins it for those coming to catch the episode online.
LOL! you are funny david. That was the golden ticket for you because you are already fabulous. A fabulous designer! Not so much for Meg. Sorry to burst you bubble. Will not be watching her show along with many other viewers.
I was disappointed that Karl did not win. I also thought he showed depth in his design choices as opposed to Meg's which seemed bubble-gum like. Her colors for the small house were awful!! I loved his inspiration of the architecture across the street and solving the hard problem of Tuscany and city grit. Bravo for Karl and I hope he is used as a designer in his own future show as I would certainly watch.
I loved both Karl and Meg — It had to be extremely difficult to choose between them. However, I thought Karl NAILED the camera challenge. It was the first time. Would he be able to keep it up? Meg is great, as long as she doesn't call people "guys". Thank YOU — not thank you guys. What do YOU want for this space? Not what do you guys want for this space…..drop the guys, please. And PLEASE give Karl at least a couple of specials on Inspired Design.
Yuk!! Meg's voice is horrible. Won't be watching her show. But even worse than Meg's voice: Would somebody please tell Genevieve she does NOT have a killer body, and she should stop wearing skin-tight clothes, and that when she's a juge, she should not wear hooker clothes, and that we do not want to see her crotch? Thank you.
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought Meg's voice sounded so bad that no one in the world could stand it AND that Genevieve, dear Genevieve, looking worse and worse due to shorter and shorter skirts. What happend to the professionalism of the show. Thank God for Vern and Candance who carry it on. But Genevieve, you still have hair to die for!
Genevieve was a newbie not long ago. I liked her then. Now her nose is way up in the air. She couldn't win that show herself, that's for sure. She sure doesn't have it for sex appeal if you ask me. I didn't even notice her dress, body or crotch. I'm a Tanya Niyak fan myself with Sabrina Soto next in line. I'm OVER Genevieve! I don't want to see her period, even in the slimmest of nightwear!
Do I think the right designer won out? Absolutely not!
I don't know what David was thinking when he said that Karl wasn't as good on camera as Meg. He is so full of it.
And here we go again…One hate blog wasn't enough?
People are just venting (some of it is not necessary I agree) But it's not like HGTV cares what we think anyway.
HGTV must want everyone to get all worked up. Why else have they orchestrated this mess with such a disappointing ending?
I used to be an avid fan of ALL the design shows and watched all of them pretty regularly.
But watching them on Design Star has really shown me, the esteem and respect I had for them is not really deserved when they can just dismiss the best designer at the end.
1. Candice bore a close resemblance to Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmations
2. David B was looking like he belonged in a circus act with that tacky jacket
3. Gen and Vern sounded like puppets and made me want to vomit with their fake and staged comments
And that FAKE STAGED CELEBRATION WAS THE WORST!!
WHAT MADE IT EVEN THAT MUCH DISHEARTENING WAS THAT MOST OF THE VIEWERS WERE IN SHOCK FROM YOUR DECISION.
YOU ALL LOOKED LIKE SOME WEIRD CULT.
I watched every single one of your designers from Candice, Gen, David, Sarah, Antonio, Jamie, John G, Emily. EVERY ONE of THEM. But I don't understand your decision to pick Meg.
HGTV doesn't deserve my money or my time. It's all more of the same anyway.
LOL!!! The judges did look shiny and robotic (Stepford Wives came to mind). I've been watching All American Handyman and truly enjoy and respect Mike Holmes' and Scott McGillivray's high level of professionalism. Talking about integrity, personal trials and triumph, that show hits the mark. Design Star' s "star" seems to have been chosen from the get-go.
I agree Megs voice is overbearing. What a mistake to pick her as the winner. Karls designs had class and would appeal to most people. Karl should have been the winner.
I agree with you. But where are all the viewers remarks from last night echoing this same sentiment? TO HGTv: gone but not forgotten. Let the public pick each wekk and the winner fair and square next season!
Not one positive blog for Meg. Why doesn't HGTV listen ? They should allow the viewers vote for the winner. Don't they want a show that the public will like and watch? I didn't even watch the end of the last DS show. Deleted as soon as the said Meg's name. Karl, you rock, as a TV personality and designer.
I think Meg is great. So there's a positive blog.
