Your Design Star Fan Favorite Is…

Drumroll please…this year’s Design Star fan favorite is…Kellie! Throughout the season, this mother of two from Edmond, Okla., won viewers’ hearts with her “warm contemporary” style and equally warm personality. Mark came in at a very close second.

Kellie Clements: Fan Vote Winner

Congratulations, Kellie! Check back here soon for updates about Kellie’s new online show.

Update: Thanks to all who voted for the Design Star fan favorite this year!  We had more than 1.2 million votes total, and while Mark netted lots of votes towards the end of the competition, it wasn’t enough to topple Kellie’s lead.

  1. At the top of the Fan Vote Screen it simply says voting THROUGH September 15th. I have been voting 10 votes for Karl every day, but I was planning on voting for Mark today because he had a chance to beat Kellie and I would rather see his designs. Kellie has been at the top because of her blog about her family and her cry-baby explanations of all of her design mistakes. I think HGTV should give EVERYONE A BLOG OR NOT ALLOW ANY BLOGGING ABOUT THE COMPETITION. The reason Cathy was at the top for so long – her Home Staging Association was telling all theri members to vote for her – and they probably did so without even watching the show. Let's make the fan vote an honest vote of viewer who watch the show and want good design. It is like the show itself – it seems to have nothing todo with design talent.

    • The reason Kellie won is because she has a zillion people who truly love her and believe in her and know how fabulous she is. You could not meet a nicer sweeter person if you tried. You only see the editing on the design show, to add the drama and make you want to watch. God has a plan in this and that could not be stopped. You may as well like it.

    • I watched the show and I enjoyed Kellie and her designs. Remember this was a fan vote. We all have our opinions and yours just happens to be different that the majority of the fans. I also enjoyed Karl and Mark. They did a wonderful job and I looked forward to seeing their designs each week, but I really liked Kellie's style and personality. That's what this comes down to. Who is the fan favorite. No tricks here. Kellie won because the fans liked her best, so be happy for her and be happy for the wonderful exposure that Mark and Karl received on the show. I have no doubt they are both going to go far.

    • I thought Kellie's designs looked cheap. As a mom, I value durability but also style. She was a sweet woman but her designs were not very good. Karl and Mark were better designers. I think HGTV is just trying to widen their range of viewers to families, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed this to happen.

  2. I love Kellie's designs. Congratulations. And shame on a lot of you for your ugly words, if you had to say those ugly words to someone's face would you to be so bold?! Don't you know that all 12 of the designers this season were picked because they were all good!! Kellie and Mark were both very supportive of each other and even though they appreciate your support, don't think either would say such ugly things about the other.

    • I agree.. this is a fun contest. And the decision on who wins will not ruin anyone's life. They all worked hard, they all had their good points and their bad.. Someone had to win.

Meg is a good designer, she had troubles with some areas, but everyone did. Karl was a great designer, who had a terrible time adjusting to the camera, but that doesn't make him any less a great designer. Mark was awesome in his design appeal, so were all the designers. well except the first one let go.. I didn't get to see enough of her to really know what kind of designer she is.

I really get upset that people can be so free with making hurtful comments towards someone on how they look and sound, something that they really can't change. It's so juvenile, and ruins the fun of the whole contest, and has nothing to do with their abilities to design a beautiful room.

Irishsnowangel on September 15, 2011 at 2:22 pm
    • Right on Vicki!! Can't believe how nasty some of these comments are! Crazy how people can be so mean!

Zoeygirl on September 15, 2011 at 10:17 pm
  3. Mark could not design. So glad Kellie won

Brad on September 15, 2011 at 12:31 pm
    • What??? You must be blind! That's the stupidest thing I've seen someone write on these blogs….get some glasses, sweetie, you obviously need them!

Sense on September 15, 2011 at 12:49 pm
      • since she has been, like, 10 percent ahead the entire time – i'd say most people would agree they are happy to see Kellie won. She's been a winner all along – Mark crept up and prolly made eberyone he knows vote because he's a loser

loserlover on September 15, 2011 at 1:21 pm
        • thumbs down to you. then again, its not your fault to have inferior taste. nevermind.

lowcaps on September 15, 2011 at 6:34 pm
        • Prolly? Eberyone? Are you a kindergarten dropout?

          salviati2 on September 15, 2011 at 6:50 pm
        • I think Mark came close to winning because the people who were voting for Karl had switched to Mark for fan favorite, once Mark was eliminated, and Karl proceeded to the finals.

          Mark G on September 16, 2011 at 8:51 am
    • @Brad. That is a very mean spirited thing to say about Mark. Kellie was my favorite and I'm really glad that she won but to say that Mark can't design is just ludicrous. All 12 of them were good designers otherwise they wouldn't have been chosen for the show. We all have different tastes in design so none of the designers could possibly please everyone. The contest is over and the winners have been announced and your negative comments serve absolutely no useful purpose. I really enjoy watching HGTV Design Star and am already looking forward to next season.

  4. I like Kelly and all and congrats to her BUT I know some of my votes went to her by mistake because voting on your phone even seconds before the page was fully loaded meant the page would scroll down and your click ended up being for the wrong person! It was frustrating each time and nothing I could do to retract it! Mark should have won FOR SURE!!!! I wonder how many people that happened to as well?

Brenda on September 15, 2011 at 12:31 pm
  5. Happy the way this turned out. Kellie is a fantastic designer and person

  6. Congratulations to Kellie! I'm happy for you girl.

Kellie has been my fav from the beginning, so I'm looking forward to seeing her online show.

  7. Congratulations Kelli!! I am so happy for you. You deserve it! You are such a sweet, Godly woman. Good luck!

Danna on September 15, 2011 at 12:34 pm
    • Ah!! God gave her the win. Uh huh !!

      salviati2 on September 15, 2011 at 12:38 pm
    • what does "godly" have to do with ANYTHING in this?

Kathy on September 15, 2011 at 2:33 pm
    • Godly woman? What does that have to do with good design. Anytime someone presents themselves as "Godly" I start looking for a scandal, because there is usually one under the rug somewhere. I am a Christian, but I don't believe in using a person's religious views to vote on design issues. This is a good example of why so many people do not like Christians.

  8. Wow, Kellie is great. Glad the fans chose her

Candice on September 15, 2011 at 12:35 pm
  9. Kellie, I know you will Glorify God through all of this. You are an amazing woman, mother, designer and friend. So so proud of you

Leah Kline on September 15, 2011 at 12:36 pm
    • I REPEAT – what does "godly" or glorifying God" have to do with ANYTHING in this?

Kathy on September 15, 2011 at 2:35 pm
      • Glorifying God has Everything to do with Everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guest on September 15, 2011 at 3:33 pm
        • Please stop spouting your bible thumping views. Your concept of god or predestined plan has absolutely nothing to do with this. Get a life – and a dose of reality!

Mary on September 15, 2011 at 3:43 pm
          • Mary, these deluded religious nuts are all convinced that "god" made Kellie win this fan favorite contest. You should have been reading her Facebook page. Pathetic really.

            salviati2 on September 15, 2011 at 4:23 pm
          • Must have been a slow day for God if he had time to check the vote total and make sure Kellie got the show.

amp on September 15, 2011 at 7:01 pm
      • It was obvious in the way she related to the other designers…even that obnoxious Cathy. She was always sweet spirited and was cheering her fellow designers on.

Freddie on September 16, 2011 at 1:33 am
    • God is a concept, not a reality. Get real

Devil on September 19, 2011 at 7:20 pm
      • And I'm still trying to understand what God has to do with this contest. It was and still is totally inappropriate to introduce religion into this discussion. It's about DESIGN !!! Kellie and her cohorts just don't get it. HGTV should replace Kellie with someone who has a grain of common sense!

Edith Jamison on September 19, 2011 at 7:53 pm
    • Okay, what is this line running thru comments about Kelly (a godly woman) (you will glorify God). I am a Christian and I absolutely find it repulsive when people use such glib phrases in "Christian-Speak." This was an audition for a professional job, not a contest for missionary of the year.

patrick on October 6, 2011 at 2:25 am
  10. congrats KELLIE!! :)
