Your Design Star Fan Favorite Is…
Drumroll please…this year’s Design Star fan favorite is…Kellie! Throughout the season, this mother of two from Edmond, Okla., won viewers’ hearts with her “warm contemporary” style and equally warm personality. Mark came in at a very close second.

Update: Thanks to all who voted for the Design Star fan favorite this year! We had more than 1.2 million votes total, and while Mark netted lots of votes towards the end of the competition, it wasn’t enough to topple Kellie’s lead.

A friend of mine who knew Mark in high school, says Mark has had such an increase in design work from his exposure on DS, so congrats to Mark. Maybe eventually HGTV will see what they missed. The only DS star show I watch anyway is David Bromstad, and the way the network is bringing back runners up, maybe to win DS is really "the kiss of death" for your show.

I only watch David Bromstad too, the others are so cheesey it hurts to watch. Meg will make a nice addition to the cheesey HGTV family. I would have watched Karl if he had won.

This just proves HGTV is full of BS. I always loved Mark, he had so much more talent than that weepy little twit. Her personality is sooo off putting and if you read her blog you can tell she's a self centered know it all. Her response to the outrage about the bunk bed was sooo sarcastic and condescending that you know she's not the sweet like mid west mom she pretends to be. I also think it's really suspicious how Kellie was always just one point ahead of Mark, especially when majority the majority of the fans here obviously love Mark and really dislike Kellie. I know I've always voted for Mark.
If the rest of you feel the same way as I do, I think we should all stop watching HGTV and visiting it's fan site and show them how we feel.
Then stop watching HGTV and stop visiting the website. You being rude towards any of the contestants without actually knowing anything about them is unfair. I've also followed Kellie's blog continuously and have interpreted her words to be completely opposite of how you describe them. If you don't like her, don't read her blog. It's that simple. As far as HGTV being full of BS…surely you realize that online votes are "weighed"….meaning Kellie wouldn't get as many "percentage points" for votes from Arkansas or Oklahoma because those states are where the majority of her family and friends are voting from. Be disappointed if you must but trying to start a band wagon against watching HGTV is just silly. Mark and Kellie…as well as most of the other contestants aren't bashing each other or being unsupportive of the results of the show. You could learn a thing or 2 from both of them.

Really Cristina?? It appears that the majority of fans here obviously LOVE Kellie, as she was the winner! Now that is not to say that Mark isn't loved or a great designer (considering how close the voting was) but Kellie did win this competition. Kellie was also more than "always just one point ahead of Mark" – obviously you didn't start voting soon enough. She has been the fan favorite since it started and Mark just recently started to catch up. And goodness… who is calling who sarcastic and consdescending? I'm telling ya, life is soooo much easier when your demeanor and attitude are positive. Try it!

I followed Kellie on Facebook and it wasn't until she was told Mark was having any and everyone vote for him that she finally asked us to really go on and vote for her. She also stopped her FB followers from bashing Cathy, which by doing so, she was showing her classiness.
I say to all…. give Kellie a chance and stop with all the hateful comments. It is so unbecoming of all of you and let her enjoy her moment!
Mark should have won this. Voting was closed way to early. What is up with that? Not very honorable of HGTV to do this.

I think Dancing meant it should have stayed open until the very end of the day…Who cares who won this or Design Star…There are already too many designers on HGTV…I don't get why they don't focus on the shows that they already had in production, instead of giving us more of the same thing…What was wrong with shows like Designers Challenge, Designing for the Sexes, Rate My Space, etc?…Just put out new episodes and people will watch, but instead we get another rerun of House Hunters…BTW I thought the guy who did Rate My Space was really good…Where is he and that show?…I'm sure the show was/is popular, since there are still people putting their spaces on-line.
they should have kept in open until noon as they stated, it shut down at least 10 minutes early based on Eastern time, who knows how that would have affected the outcome.
INSTEAD OF WHINING ABOUT YOUR DESIGNER NOT WINNING, TRY CONGRATULATING THE DESIGNER THAT DID WIN! THE RULES WERE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE. I ABSOLUTELY HATE VICTIM ATTITUDES. WE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS OR THAT! GIVE ME A BREAK! GROW UP AND GET A LIFE! KELLIE WAS EASILY THE MOST LIKEABLE PERSON ON THE SHOW AND THAT IS NOT MY OPINION, THAT IS FACT BASED ON THE PUBLICS VOTE! PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT IN THEIR LIFE LOVE TO TEAR DOWN OTHER PEOPLE! IF YOU POSTED ANYTHING NEGATIVE ON THIS CHAT ABOUT ANY OF THE DESIGNERS THEN SHAME ON YOU! I followed Kellie on Facebook during the whole show and it wasn't until she heard or was told that Mark was really going full force after the vote and then she asked people on FB to get our friends/family to vote for her. She wasn't comfy doing so, but felt like she had no other choice. She showed her classiness when she asked people to stop bashing Kathy.
Yes, she stood up to Geneivie and if that is being Miss Mouth, then so be it. I call it standing up for yourself. And not doing the bunkbed was a problem for her,, but others had issues also in their decisions on some level. Give her a break folks! She has won and we need to give her a break.
