David on Ep 8: “A Fantasy Room? Not So Much”

Find out what David thought Hilari’s biggest mistake was, plus the best + worst features in Britany and Danielle’s yurts.
Who do you think created the best yurt-turned-bedroom? What was the biggest design mistake last night? Weigh in in the comments below.

I really like all 3 designers that were left, and would have been sad to see any of them go. That said, I though Hilary actually did a better job with design AND camera challenges. My husband and I were both shocked she was sent home.
I wish the judges would do a blog to explain their decisions. There just did not seem to be any reason states why it was Hilari.
I think Danielle deserved to go home this time. Her design has been so up and down sometimes she wins and sometimes she should have gone home. And has anyone else noticed that all her successful individual designs seem to be that "global " style or something? And the judges say britanys designs are so repetitive… Britany deserves to win…for goodness sakes she hasn't even been in the bottom two before! Has that even happened on previous seasons??!!! Anyway go Britany and hope to see hilarity do well in the all stars!!
Is it rigged! Seriously I think you all need to go back and look at the rooms and camera challenges. Was it that Hilarie bought her bed like most of us would do! Made a fantasy room which was the challenge. Not sure I will watch either show. I will wait for Hilarie to be on another channel. Very disappointed
I thought all three did a nice job. I liked Britany’s rolling bed concept but wish something more had been done with the wood itself. It looked a little cheap to me. Of course, time was an issue with that. Her ceiling was gorgeous. Danielle’s room was fun and I loved some of the piece she used. As far as her bed…I would have liked to see tree trunks as the columns. That would have tied in great with her idea. To me, Hilari designed with t”fantasy” in mind. Her colors were vivacious and her furniture was luxurious. Some well-placed plants and unique art could have made a difference in the decision to let her go. All three designers seem equal in their talent. I’m sure the judges arena,t having an easy time of it.
There had to be something that the viewers didn't get to see to have Hilari off the show. I was completely shocked. I am so tired of seeing Danielle cry & get flustered while running out of time. She is not. Incident in her designs. She's too much like me for me to want to watch her show. Both Hilari and Britney have confidence. That's what viewers want to watch – an expert!!
I agree with the expert requirement-why would we take advice from someone who has no more design skills than we do?
Hilari had false confidence, based on her belief the she had design ability. She is a design slob. Her work was awful. If she has any expertise at all, then it definitely isn't design talent. She's gone, good riddens. I couldn't figure out how she was chosen for the show initially, based on her pitiful portfolio.
I am glad to see Hilari gone. IF you are truly good at something, you don't need to be making the ridiculous comments Hilari was making. Brittany's designs have been very repetitive. How many times do we need to see the same designs on the walls? Danielle does not to learn some time management but she has tried different designs each week; she also seems the most genuine.
I still like Bex-check out her photo gallery-inspired.
I'm going to rewatch episode seven tonight to see if I can understand why the judges cut Hilary. Maybe I'll pick up something new the second time around.
I love Hilari but for goodness sake… HGTV is about design, not entertainment and who has the best personality. If I want to be entertained, I watch Mob-wives. HGTV is about getting inspiration in your own space and learning how to design. Although I actually did want Hilari in the finale for her eclectic style, the other two are more seasoned designers. If the judges are going on consistency, Britany will be the winner. That is my vote.
I am a huge HGTV fan, even my kids are avid viewers of some of the shows and I am suprise to be saying this, but I think I have experienced my first prejudice episode. Many of my friends and co-workers always state how HGTV has no people of color to represent any of the shows or the judging and I just blew them off as closed minded and not in touch with the network, but now I am second guessing myself. There is no way that Hilari should not have been in the final two, no way!!! The only negative thing that was said about her space was that she left two blank spaces that could have easily been filled with a plant, really!!!!! I am at a lost for words and very disappointed. Her camera challenge need nothing but practice, she connected with camera well, was not at a lost for words, very comfortable in front of the camera and had the design skill to pull off a great show, a little practice and I am sure some direction from the writers would have gone a long wayl with her show.
So surprised Hilari went home. Maybe her design was not as good in person? Danielle's was the worst by far, a giant yawn. Britt, loved the moving bed/wall/storage, CLEVER. We will miss you in the finals Hilari, so do not get that…
