Did you ever wish some of your favorite Design Star contestants from seasons past got a chance to come back and redeem themselves? Wish no more, and mark your calendars: Design Star All Stars is here. Starting July 31 at 9/8c, six of the most memorable designers from the show’s history books will dust off their reality TV skills and compete for a guest spot on an HGTV show and a cash prize.
David Bromstad hosts, and Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder will return to the Design Panel along with a rotating guest judge. Read on to find out the rest of the familiar faces you’ll see on the show.
Hilari Younger (Season Seven)
Age: 31
Dallas, Texas
Hilari says she discovered her passion for design as a child when she wanted to redo her bedroom every few months. After studying fashion merchandising and public relations at Howard University and getting on-the-job design training in retail establishments, restaurants, home stores and real estate firms, Hilari found her way to commercial and residential design. Today, she is a mom, a self-employed contractor and interior stylist who has completed dozens of design projects ranging from apartment lobbies to model homes and offices. Inspired by fashion and classic movies, Hilari says she loves reviving vintage looks and defines her style as an eclectic mix of ethnic modern and ornate glamour.
Kellie Clements (Season Six)
Age: 33
Edmond, Okla.
A self-described “fireball,” this married mom of two says people sometimes underestimate her design talent. Originally from Arkansas, Kellie grew up in a creative family. Her parents were artists and allowed Kellie to mix paints and create artwork in their studio. Kellie, who holds a degree in interior design from the University of Central Arkansas, has more than 11 years of professional experience as a designer with a residential builder. She calls her design style “warm contemporary”—that is, it includes lots of color and whimsical touches. As the season six HGTV Design Star “fan favorite,” Kellie is ready to take on new challenges in HGTV Design Star All Stars.
Leslie Ezelle (Season Six)
Age: 44
Dallas, Texas
Leslie, a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, cruise ship entertainer and mom of a blended family, has a wide variety of design experience ranging from remodels to home staging for real estate agents. Leslie, who describes herself as fun with a larger-than-life personality, helps clients “tame their domain” and believes that a stress-free, organized home offers the happiest and healthiest environment. With her preferred design style of “simple, traditional elegance,” she offers a less-is-more design philosophy that’s easy and inexpensive. Above all, Leslie considers herself a survivor. After winning a two-year battle with breast cancer, she is ready to live her dream as the winner of HGTV’s first Design Star All Stars.
Tom Vecchione (Season 5)
Age: 47
New York, NY
For 24 years, Tom has worked at one of the world’s largest architecture firms. As a design director, he regularly oversees projects for international clientele, many with building budgets in excess of $100 million. His parents encouraged his creativity, leading Tom to study architecture at Cornell and earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture at The New York Institute of Technology. Friends and co-workers describe Tom as a leader and compare his personality to a Jackson Pollack painting: bright, vibrant and filled with dynamic energy. Although he has an established career doing what he loves, Tom says his experience, energy and ability to thrive under pressure will make him a standout competitor on HGTV Design Star All Stars.
Dan Vickery (Season Four)
Portland, Ore.
Age: 29
Dan, who holds a degree in architecture from the University of Oregon in Portland, was inspired by design at an early age. Watching his mother and grandmother use fabric for quilting captivated Dan’s imagination and eventually led him to a career in architecture and design. After graduation, Dan designed and built homes for a local construction company. He describes his design style as “hip and historic” and says that great design should be grounded in sound architectural aesthetics and accented with modern décor. As the first ever “fan favorite” on season four of HGTV Design Star, Dan hosted his own web series on HGTV.com where he gave helpful tips on designing creative spaces for children.

Josh Johnson “Sparkle Josh” (Season Two)
Hendersonville, Tenn.
Age: 37
This self-taught Tennessee native is a big fan of Southern glitz and glamour and is ready to expose America to the fabulous technique he calls “glamour layering.” Josh, often the first one to awaken to style his hair, is unapologetic about his over-the-top outfits or his indulgent designs. He is an expert shopper with an eye for unique items and a knack for finding unbelievable bargains. With 16 years of experience in the music, fashion and interior design arenas under his belt, his design philosophy pairs livable elegance with functional luxury and glamour.

Love Hilari and Kellie….but, where's Karl????
I am also disappointed not to see Karl, and Mark from last season.
HGTV is so racist! How the heck did Hilari get eliminated? Her design was the best !! HGTV needs a black goddess on their channel. You guys suck. No longer a fan at all.
Do you not see that Danielle is black?
That is the dumbest comment I've read in a long time.
we want karl we want karl we want karl we want karl…
Yea, where's Karl!! Loved Karl last year. Kar – rel, Kar – rel, Kar-rel!! I guess it's too late for the all stars, but bring Karl back!!
Hilari and Tom were robbed! Their designs and personalities were so much better throughout the All Stars series and on the finale. I hope HGTV will provide other opportunities for them.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. So happy to see Hilari on here!
Glad Hilari is getting another chance. Wanted her to win Design Star, she had the best camera personality of the last three.
I would never watch Hilari. She wasn't very authentic nor much of a team player. I'm glad Danielle is going to win. She is both authentic and polished.
I also want Danielle to win. But even if its going to be Brittany I am ok with that. They both have a great taste in design!
POLISH….that is what the network was looking for, which was lacking in Hilari. They were both, along with Brittany, very good designers destined for greatness.
I totally agree! The two contestants left are bland in comparison to Hilari's personality and on camera enthusiasm. I couldn't believe she was outed.
She was "outed" because they are looking for "POLISH". No blah blah blah. Too mouthy for a show on HGTV.
I agree 100%!!!! Vern likes Danielle and wants her to win!
She sure did!!!
Her on camera loose manner of expressing herself was her downfall. I remember the female judge asking Vern "Does she have what it takes to represent this network?" One has to speak properly in this role, less jargon and colloquialisms which include words (such as y'all, gonna, and wanna) .
Her designs are fabulous. She just needs to "tighten up" her business persona for the future. It needs to cover a much broader audience than she portrays at the moment. All the best Hillary. You are GREAT!
Well then someone needs to tell Paula Deen with her y'all, gonna, wanna, stick a butter y'all self.
me too.. i really like her–great personality and funny and not to mention good decorator
Great that HGTV followed through on the idea – great cast!
So sad we won't be seeing Karl again.
it would not surprise me for a second if Karl declined to participate, given the way he was robbed last season. However no supposed “all-star” cast will be complete without him.
I agree.
I love this idea — can't wait to see how these designers do in the challenges! And I don't think any of them need to "redeem" themselves. They are just getting another opportunity to remind us why they were so popular on previous "Design Star" seasons. I will certainly be watching!
Sparkle Josh!!
Can't wait to see Sparkle! We will be supporting you! Go get um 'GIRRRLLLLL'- (Naraja)
David Cassidy reincanated. How can anyone think is style is in style. I no or care to no no one who would dare look like him. wow
Team Hilari! Still can't believe she was eliminated from Season 7.
I agree, love her!
YIKES! THE ATTACK OF THE ZOMBIE "DESIGNERS!" They won't stay dead!
HGTV, you've got to be kidding with this one. I seriously do not want to see any of these "designers" ever again.
Then don't watch.
Ya think???
You took the words right out of my mouth. Love Hilari!
