  1. I am so happy that Danielle won as I have been rooting for her all the way. Britany is good but she designs the same style every time. She did not give the clients what they wanted. Ugly wallpaper and the room was not sleek and contemporary. I hope Danielle turns out to be as good as Candace Olson and Sarah Richardson. They are the best designers of all in my opinion.

  2. The producers and judges need to read the comments from the last 3 blogs. Maybe they do and ignore them but a majority wanted Hilari or Britany and many found Danielle's voice not ready for prime time. If you can't look into what an audience wants, then just don't do the show.

  3. I feel that Brittany was the clear winner. Danielle was too flowery and phoney with her enthusiasm. I trusted the words of Brittany because she was so sincere. Since you stated it was such a difficult decision, I would of thought there would have been two winners, maybe alternating shows or working together and decorating two rooms, different house on the same show. I will definetly miss Brittany and her photography ideas. Katie

    • So what, she took some pictures, but she did not tell us how to integrate them into a room

      • That's interesting, Katie: I had thought the same thing ~ these two ladies both were onthe same level talent wise, so maybe they'd declare a tie and totally break the mold but no go…..I though Brittany was excellent and so was Danielle, so either one was a happy choice for me.

  4. Another HGTV Design Star show I will NOT be watching. You had the perfect person handed to you on a platter. Brittany was ready for TV from the get go. From her designs to her clothing, she knew what looked great on TV. She was popular, beautiful, personable and talented. Out of the final 2, you always choose the wrong person. You'd have much more success and viewership if the audience could vote and invest in the people they want to see on TV. You think you would have caught on by now…

  5. Congrats to both. So talented! But I am very happy for Danielle, I cannot deny it. She projected easier and made the audience feel comfortable. Also, she had more versatility in design. Brittany's designs were beautiful , but her style was always one and the same.

  6. I was so happy Danielle won! Along with being a great designer, she is warm and personable.
She's engaging. She's someone that you'd want to spend time with.

While Britney might have been the better designer, there is just something stand-offish about her. A little too cool, and a little too phony. I loved her work, but I couldn't connect with her.

Wanting to watch a show is just as much about the personality as it is the design.
I think Danielle has what it takes to be successful – unlike all the other Design Star winners – with the exception, of course, of David.

  7. Our family and friends were on "Team Britany"; it was painful to see her lose. I imagine it came down to a coin toss for the judges. They were also probably very concerned about the camera challenges and which of the two could "ramp up" the quickest to create that magical viewer connection. One almost has to be able to reveal one's soul when the producers call "ACTION!" Any reserve or hesitation has to be vanquished. I personally think it's more interesting when the focus is on the design rather than on the designer; but, I bet I'm in the vast minority on that score. They both worked unbelievably hard to win the prize, and Danielle – to her credit – impressed the judges more.

  8. wow what a shame that they picked the dumpster room–I would have cried if that was my house–it is a mish mash of dumpster furniture. i guess Design star isn't about design anymore. I would expect a Design star to be able to design something spectacular and this room looks like a three year old designed it. I sure won't be watching her show

  9. I just finished watching the show, and I am thrilled that Danielle won, although both Britany and Danielle were outstanding and poised. I've thought all along that Danielle just had that "star quality" that a show needs. I also thought she addressed her clients' needs a bit better than Britany. It was never clear where the little boy's toys ended up on Britany's show, but Danielle cleaned up the look of her clients' rooms and provided appropriate storage and space for their unusual lifestyles. I love watching this show every year, and I think Danielle is a true winner!! Kudos, Danielle!!

    • I also wondered where the toys went. If the homeowners had another place to keep them, they would probably not have been in the dining room to being with. I got the impression that Britany just did the design according to what she liked and what would look good on television. And if photography was going to be her weekly "thing" on her own show, I think that would have grown old fast. There are only so many subjects to photograph after awhile, at least without leaving the area. D-Bro paints, so he is not as limited by his surroundings as a photographer would be.

  10. While I enjoy "Design Star" I think the producers need to follow the example of the Food Network and let viewers decide who they want to watch. It seems to me that in the past couple of years the winners have been chosen based on what demographic hole HGTV needs to fill and not so much about the designer's talent. I knew from the beginning of the season who the winner was going to be – no surprise there last night. Take a lesson from Food Network – let the viewers decide.
