And the Design Star Fan Favorite Is…
You cast almost a million votes this season in the Design Star fan vote to help one contestant win their own show on HGTV.com. Voting is now closed, and you’ve chosen the winner: Season seven runner-up and Hollywood regency devotee Britany Simon! From her graphic wall in episode one to her glamorous, modern homeowner makeover in the finale, she wowed all season long.
Yuki, Danielle and Bex had their share of fans, but the votes weren’t enough to topple Britany’s lead:

For all of you who are “wondering” how Britany won as fan favorite, well, she is BRILLIANT! She has many irons in the fire, and is extremely gifted as both a designer and photographer. AND she has a VERY LARGE EXTENDED FAMILY who love her and know that she deserves this. End of Story to the haters!
Glad Brittany won an on-line show. Danielle's a loser one year and she'll be gone. Meg will fade also, both are bad. Vern Vip and Genevieve Gorder should be replaced with some one else they stink. I do like David Bromstad he's very creative and a great artist.

Happy for Britany but she just couldn't cut it as a host. Danielle is so comfortable in front of the camera! I'm glad Britany gets an online show, but I will watch Danielle's show because putting a room together is more interesting to me than framing pictures. Congrats to all!
I also AGREE, these are some of the nastiest comments I've ever read concerning a show. I am happy for both young ladies……infact they all worked very hard and are talented. In life some people win and some lose competitions. But both are winners. So why do we make the nasty, ugly comments about people that are trying to achieve a dream. IT shouldn't be personal — not about me or you — its their dream and HGTVs professional panel made their decision, the fans (some who voted numerous times in a day) got their Voice heard. An certainly I'm sure at the end of day…….There are many people in the WORLD that will continue to watch HGTV..
If this has already been discussed before, I apologize. From the beginning of this season's Design Star, I thought Danielle would be the winner due to the way, and how much, she was featured in the previews, sound bites and contestant commentary prior to and during the season. Her comment "I can taste It" actually sealed the deal in my eyes. Also, the contestant commentary during the show always gives away the person going home. I've seen enough to know that when someone (like Britany during the finale) says "it would be devastating to go home at this point in the competition", you know that contestant is going home.
Why did Genevieve think Mikel's green paint looked institutional and Danielle's green did not? I know there was some difference in the greens but even Hilari made a face when she first saw that color on the walls in the finale. I think Danielle won because she is verbally strong but I think Britany is so much more approachable and relatable. I hope HGTV can find something for Britany after some time goes by. I think she was great on commentary so I don't get the confidence issue. I think it was put out there to give a reason why Britany shouldn't win….they had to find something….because, from the beginning, she had the design chops to win. No offense Danielle. I like you too. This is not about you winning but about Britany losing. Ok, go Dan!
I am glad that Brittany got her own online decorating show because it means she won't show up on TV on a regular show and I will never go to her online. So one good thing came out of her winning. I couldn't stand to watch her every week.
