David on All-Stars Ep 1: “We Have Tape…Why Not Use It?”

Host David Bromstad reveals the jaw-dropping cost of the furniture seen in tonight’s challenge. Plus, the design details you couldn’t see on the show (very good and very bad.) See what David thought, then weigh in: Did the right designer go home?
Here’s what David had to say from the set:
What did you think of the premiere? Whose design deserved to win? Did the right person go home? Weigh in in the comments below.

She took her design from her previous season's white room challenge–which the judges didn't like–as her inspiration. Guess what–they didn't like it this time either. Neither did I. She deserved to go home. And her comment to Hilari was totally uncalled for; she has to eat her words now.
I love Sparkle Josh and Hilari. I'm sorry he didn't make it this time as I really liked his point of view. He and Hilari have the best personalities and abilities for the show. Tom is excellent for men's decor. Don't know how he would do with a woman client. Dan is also very creative, but his camera challenges are lacking a firm idea and he is clearly not in his comfort zone. Love the show and David Bromstead is great! Hope Hilari wins.
i am late on posting, but i was so glad when the first girl got kicked off! i was so angry with her for telling hilari that she was a freshman invited to senior prom….the nerve of her!!!! obviously she wasn't prom queen!!!!! i am glad hilari remained composed
Where can I find a list of the furniture stores visited/shopped in each episode?
All the designers get snippy with each other sometimes. Probably, they left the "freshman at the prom" comment in the final cut just to validate the judges' choice. We, as a society, cannot handle bad things happening to good people, so when we see someone making a rude comment right before they get eliminated, it makes the elimination more palatable. You never see the whole story. They play up the drama because that's what makes people watch. The moment Kellie made that comment, I knew she was going home–it was foreshadowing. Just because she's the only one we *saw* being rude doesn't mean the others weren't equally rude or cranky. And one snotty comment that might have been taken the wrong way doesn't make you a mean person.
Hilari should have won, because she was more interesting and had more personality. If she had her own show i would definitely watch it. My husband and I are hugh fans of HGTV love it.
I can not believe they did this to Hillary AGAIN!!!! Yes Leslie is a good designer as are all three. It takes more than just great design it also takes personality. Dan( elegant designer but predictable) and Leslie( pratical designer) have no star quality, they are not engaging at all. Hilary not only had modern, youthful and classy designs she has a spark that comes across great as a TV host. I was so hurt that she lost out on a show opportunity again. She and "Sparkle" could do a show together it it would be entertaining and beautiful.
Daniell's designs during the competition were beautiful but her show is boring as hell. I was happy she won but now I'm not so sure of her design choices. Going green is wonderful and all that but I don't want to see reclaimed wood in every episode.
I was shocked at the decision. To me, Leslie was on the bottom of my list. Tom was dynamic and artistic, and Hilary was youthful and brought a spark of color and a current style. I have watched HGTV since it started. It used to be so creative and appealed to people across the board. Now it seems that going to foreign countries and showing the most gaudy of millionaire, billionaire houses is the latest trend. I don't like Leslie. She was flighty and nasty to the other designers. I will not be watching her show. Hilary would have been a great asset to HGTV. Sadly HGTV is going downhill.
very disappointed. I loved Hillary much more than the others. And it is the second time to be disappointed with Hillary not getting it. I will not watch Leslie. She is way too controlling. Design Stars judges has made mistakes all along as the only lasting design star has been David.
