With only days left until the season 8 premiere, we’re introducing you to all 10 designers/contestants on this year’s HGTV Star. Interior designer Tobin Green describes his style as “vintage industrial chic” with a flair for edgy accents.
If you had $100 to refresh your decor in any way, what would you do?
I would take it and go to my favorite restoration store. It’s kind of vague, but anytime you walk into a store like that, there’s always different stuff, and it’s always unique and no one’s going to have it.
What color do you dislike the most?
That’s a weird question, because I don’t think of myself as a “pink guy.” I don’t like girls that like pink, but I like to design with hot pink — like small features and small accents — because I think it’s a fun color to use. Maybe it’s the bubblegum pink that I don’t like.
If you could design any celebrity’s home, who would it be?
Hands down, Brad Pitt. The guy is a master of his craft. He’s an incredible artist, and I think he’s one of the most underrated actors out there. I’d love to sit down and have a beer with him and get in his mind about his whole design process and see if I could apply that to my own designs.
