Where is He Now? Matt Locke

Last year, we left Matt Locke standing on the finale stage next to winner Jennifer Bertrand. He may not have won the title of Design Star, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped designing.

After Design Star, Matt headed over to HGTV Showdown, where he and season two winner Kim Myles teamed up and beat fellow Design Star contestants, Jennifer Bertrand and Todd Davis.

The designers take a second to pose with the homeowners, Matthew and Katie Bodell.

Matt and his partner, Heith, also headed out on the cruise he won from making it to the top two of Design Star. They traveled to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Cozumel and the Bahamas.

In Cozumel, the pair took a scooter trip around the island.

  1. It seems that my TV only 2 or 3 channels. HGTV, FLN AND DIY.. So thats how my day goes. Just love all of them, especially David. I like so others wish he were here on the east coast, Virginia, so we could expect him to do some of his wonderful work. As a senior citizen, I would like nothing more than to have him do my galley kitchen. What a WOW factor that would be. Thanks David, you are charming, witty and most of all have a wonderful crew who work with you, not against you.

    • Fran, another senior citizen here who would love for David to do any project for me. And lord knows I have many needing done. I also watch HGTV too much but not Kim and since I've seen a few of Jennifers shows probably not hers' either.

  2. Kim's designs were embarrassing, have no idea how she won? I did not like her show either! Her designs were so mediocre on design star…always played it safe.

  3. I absolutely love Antonio – fresh and intuitive. Tough call, as I loved Dan too. Good Luck to both designers!

I would love to see a show that combines the runners up of this season and last. I was amazed at the talent of both Dan and Matt Locke. Neither are boring, and what one may lack in proficiency, the other one has! Love both of their personalities and wish HGTV would see the possibilities of combining these two talented men on one show.

I favor Candice and David's work. I also favor watching Vern Yip and also Sandra and Property Virgins. Always watch Angelo's Rate my Space and the show Hidden Potential. Just never got into Kim Myles and don't watch. If I wanted to watch someone paste and glue feathers, baubles etc, I would invite children to complete my house. Ditto for Real Estate Interventions. His comments often are caustic and rude. To each his own.

  4. I wonder it they will allow me to say that I think sexual orientation had something to do with Antonio's win. Perhaps they are afraid to get too many designers who take a different path in their private lives. Antonio made it clear when he made the comment about Genevieve, and the producers made it even clearer when they included the comment in the show.

  6. David is my favorite! But Dan should have won this last Design Star.
He is good too. I do hope he gets a show.

  7. Color Splash by far is the best. I love how they appeal to the middle class and they explain what they are doing .. Everyone is great on that show , lots of chemistry……David , Danielle , Ian and Claire are awesome . David is unbelievable at hosting , my whole family loves the show, and its something special to get the men in the house to watch a decorating show…
