Who Will Get a Second Shot at Fame?

If you’ve visited our fan vote recently, you probably noticed we’ve hidden the real-time results. For the remainder of the voting, we’re not going to reveal who’s in the lead. We don’t want to spoil the fun!

fan-vote-pic1

We’re still receiving a ton of votes every day, so don’t assume your favorite is safe (or out!). Don’t forget you get 10 votes online and 5 mobile votes per day.

Voting ends September 15th at 5pm EST. Once we calculate all the votes, we’ll announce the winner on the show page and reveal the final rankings here in the blog.

  1. I think it is pretty tacky that you have removed the vote totals at this stage of the game. What are you hiding? Last week, one contestant moved from 22% of the vote to 29% of the vote. After millions of votes have been cast, this is statistically impossible (if the rules of voting are being enforced). Now, with one week to go, you have removed the vote totals so that we cannot see what is going on. It makes me think the voting is not so legitimate after all.

    • I agree…Hiding votes is worng! Plus, that TV commercial with clips of judges explaining why they voted Lonni off is so lame. Lonni's 3 feature walls WERE different and showed the viewing audience how they could use accessible materials to add the "WOW" factor in their own homes. #1 used painter's tape in a new way. #2: clever homebase plaque as a textural graphic element. Everyone has a little sports star in their home and this idea to could easily duplicated by viewers. #3 sophisticated: took ordinary grasscloth wallpaper and silkscreened a very IN-STYLE large graphic. So, I don't see how Genevieve can say she doesn't see how these 3 WALLS are different!!! What a fabrication that I am not buying!!! Vern's excuse is equally as lame. That headboard was Pure genius!!! HGTV HAS lost soooo many fans by using judgesTHEYcontrol and who obviously are a bit afraid of the competition that might come their way. I say get all new judges next season who DO NOT WORK for HGTV but who KNOW STYLE!!!!!

    • HGTV…what will we all do if we can't complain about this contest after next weekend? It definitely seems like something is being done secretly with the votes…like tossing them in the trash! All we have to do is "delete cookies" and vote all day for one person! So, the vote is a sham anyways people!

    • You are absolutely right. Who the hell changes their websites design right in the middle of a contest?
HGTV is full of it. They've just been reading all of the comments in our blogs about how there has to be some cheating going on here. Aint nobody stupid, HGTV . I'll never trust or participate in any of your online crap ever again!

    • I agree. I voted only eight times today for Dan was told I had two more votes and then I was cut off and told that I had voted 10 times. I kept strict count today, but did not do so on other days. This might be how they have been siphoning off votes and attributing them to other candidates.

    • Antonio was chosen by the judges from day one! His projects always amazed the judges, even though they wouldn't even face the reality that no one wants to stare at a wall while sitting at a desk all day……his office project was a real flop, but of course, all he received was 'tiny' comments that did not affect their opinion of him. After the second show, it was all over and decided upon.. I wasted my time watching!

  2. just as you've rigged the competition, now you've taken the voting offline to rig it also, not to mention it never showed the vote count, which I found very suspicious. As if you weren't already doing it. Now it just makes it a bit easier doesn't it. But I guess you need to make sure Jany doens't pass Dan and Lonni doesn't overtake Antonio with all the scathing comments about Sunday nights elimination you really needed to do some damage control. Nice work deleting over 1000 comments. 300 sunday 500 monday and who knows how many more. I guess there's no end to it. I'm sure this one will end up in the delete folder also. maybe you put this up to distract people from the angry comments they're writing about Sunday night! keep trying. everyone is on to you.

  3. Just as the show appears rigged, now you've done it with the online voting. Interactive my butt! I guess this is why this is the first season without america voting for the winner… what's up with this. What a great way to ruin a fan base.

  5. I agree with you JRM4. I have never seen a voting site that didn't display the results so that people could see how the voting is going. It is outrageous that they have eliminated the results. This is a clear indication that HGTV is hiding something from us again like they did with the twisted editing of the video clips for the Design Star episodes. Defaming the character of the gracious people who have put a lot of effort into competiing to becme the next design star is incredibly evil. Now the voting results are hidden !?! Outrageous !!! Maybe that has been manipulated all along also. Nothing can be trusted from HGTV any more.

  6. oh my gosh, I just saw with my own eyes the total amount of comments about Sundays show change from 1627 to 1387!!! How does that happen. Is that also the way the percentage of online votes get handled??

Mira on September 9, 2009 at 6:03 pm
    • That happens because the site is moderated and posts are removed for unacceptable content. That unacceptable content could be a lot of things, mostly bad language or is deemed harrassing in nature or the like.

  7. Antonio, Bring it home big daddy! I vote Antonio the next HGTV Design Star. Also I would love to see a design by Candice & Antonio, I think they would make such a hot couple. Am I the only viewer to see the sparks between these two, (only Candice needs to grow longer hair, its an Italian thing lol), Candice is ultra feminine and girly, Antonio is ultra masculine & manly, a perfect iron chef blend, absolutely scrumptious, deliciouso. I can only imagine what those two could do by perfectly blending both & feminine & masculine elements into a one-of-a-kind dream design. It would truly be a Heavenly Design and a love story I would view as it unfolds, (sigh). Anybody listening hint-hint.

    • I love Antonio too and Candice is my favorite desinger but i'm sorry, she's married so the romance is a no go, but she's his favorite designer to. if you read his bio. So that maybe why he's so attracted to her. I'm thrilled to death he won!! He was way more talented and professional! He was always helping everyone else out, doing most of the real work. Figuring out the design and then being the one to actually make everytihng while everyone else whined about not liking the color, or not wanting to do the work. He was forever having to trip over everyone else's ego's!!

    • Candice should have hired Antonio as part of her design team…and given Dan the thumbs up for his internet show.

  8. "We don't want to spoil the fun!"

Huh?!? Has HGTV not considered that maybe they ARE spoiling the fun by taking away the voting results? Or by taking away our chance to vote for this year's Design Star??

It just blows my mind. They got rid of Lonni because of a headboard. Antonio painted the room lavender and scattered a few accessories here and there, and they keep HIM on the show? I think the judges are wearing rose-coloured glasses when they look at Antonio. Lonni completely won this past week's challenge. Why do they honestly think they can kick her off and NOT expect us HGTV junkies to be upset? I don't think they even know what they want anymore.

My Name on September 11, 2009 at 5:31 am
    • I think one of Lonni's main problems is that she kept doing the same design feature over and over again…she was a good designer, but really a "one hit wonder." I don't think Antonio is as great as the judges keep saying, either. What fun is this show if WE can't vote on who wins??? If this is how it goes, HGTV should just hire someone and leave us out of it!

Tori on September 13, 2009 at 5:26 pm
    • I totally agree with that one. They made several negative comments about the rooom and yet he stays and she goes. What's up?

  10. This is crazy. I also don't understand what HGTV is doing this season with DesignStar. It does seem that DS has something up it's sleeve. Even though I am a Dan Supporter, I really thought he was the one who was going to be eliminated from the yard challenge. It also sounds like that HGTV hid some of the details from that challenge as I have read in some other posts. As far as the yard challenge goes, I don't think it was an appropriate challenge to begin with. What do Interior designers know about trees and plants anyway? As far as this past weeks challenge – the judges have been inconsistent in their elimination process. If the only reason Lonnie was gone after this challenge was because of the head board (which I don't believe was her fault) then why wasn't she gone after the white room challenge. Antonio should have gotten the boot. I haven't liked his attitude since day one. In the preview for next Sunday's show did I hear Clive say and the winner of Design Star season 4 is. . .?
