In general, like most all of HGTV programming (except there's too much of House Hunter shows lately). But, will NEVER watch an Antonio show. To begin, he is so gross to look at – and cannot imagine a large number of people liking his design work because it's awful. In the future, if you want that kind of a show that will appeal to a limited audience, just do it. Don't let us watch talented people trying hard to be the next DESIGN STAR, with two unbelievable teen-age- acting female judges, and give the award to such a gross, non-talented, NO-CLASS person. It looked soooo fixed, and "your" credibility and "classiness" has sincerely been hurt.

Like the majority, I am very disappointed in who was chosen…I used to admire the talents of the 3 judges, so unless they were ordered to bring a "thug" on TV, shame on you 3. I won't be watching either, there is NO inspiration from this "carpenter" unless you live in darkness and can't see his design. Like he said, he doesn't know what he's doing. Now I ask you HGTV exec's, would you want this guy in your home designing your child's room???

It would be different if it wasn't a DESIGN CONTEST and Antonio is NO DESIGNER. If HGTV wanted something different then they should have just given him his own show and let the real designers compete in Design Star. He cheated a real designer out of their dream. Problem is– we did give him a chance while watching Design Star and most of us did not like his designs or his personality — how many chances does this guy get! Most of us don't care if he designs your whole hose, just make sure he stays away from ours. We are looking for quality in our homes not tacky tattoo type headboards.

My entire point is this, if Dan is such a wonderful designer why didnt he make the cut last year? Could it be because he wasnt ready to have a show, do you really feel he can pull an entire season off that will interest the majority? I think Dan has somethings going for him, but as a former producer I know when you have someone like Dan you cant jump before he is really ready. Dan made major mistakes that a lot of designers didnt, Torie lost her spot as she was incharge of budget for the backyard and Dan totally messed the budget. It wasnt by a few dollars it was by 5,000.00, in all fairness as a home owner I would not hire someone who could put me in a postion as he did. I watched the show several times, I never saw him worried he blew it off as nothing. As a producer I would have to worry about how much money we would be over and if the designs would suffer due to his total lacking of experience.

I was extremely disappointed when Antonio won Design Star. IMO, he lacked the talent and “star” quality that I associate with HGTV. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and watched his first show in which he designed his own home. It was the WORST design(?) that I have ever seen and I won’t be watching another episode. I usually am in some agreement with the judges, however, I think that all three were really off base this season. Think about giving Dan a chance on HGTV.

The reason why I'll go out of my way not to watch Antonio's sure has nothing to do with his design ability but everything to do with his integrity. On the episode when Antonio, Torie, and Dan designed a member of the military's home, Antonio deliberately lied to Torie, first saying that he "forgot" to buy the paint color they all agreed on. Later he admitted that he chose not to get it because he'd rather go home than paint yet another living space beige. While I can respect his passion about color, I find it deplorable that he lied and even more reprehensible that HGTV would honor him as a model worthy of advising others. Antonio won't be appearing on my TV screen any time soon.

I think you've missed the point – Dan may have been on season 3 for a few fleeting moments (or minutes) so why do you think he should have had droves of fans then? Dan created a following after episodes not minutes. As for experience, he worked for a home builder – is that NOT experience? Maybe not by your standards. As for his painting in the Priestley's baby room, I don't recall Dan putting a painting in every single room he worked in except the baby room so how does that make him David by doing it once. As for Todd, you obviously didn't read my comment as I didn't say it would NOT translate well on TV — I said I didn't know if it would or would not (for an entire series). I just don't care for most of Antonio's designs – I never said he wasn't a designer.

I don't like Antonio's personal designs (white room challenge, Kathy Griffin's, the color scheme of the boy's room, the last challenge) but I don't dislike him. It may also be just my personal taste, which consequently is the popular opinion in the posts so far. True, he is someone different from the pool of hosts that HGTV already have, and I'll give him credit for that. But I wonder if his design taste will suit his future clients for his show? Not unless HGTV has a different format for him altogether, his show won't last.

About his house: love the kitchen that's it. I really hate the headboard. I am not crazy about the furniture mixes, paint color (not cohesive scheme, for me). I have seen ecclectic that works and that's no it. The bath room is ok, but not a wow for a Design Star. But hey, it is his house, he can do what he wants. He can't just have the same picks for his client- anyone who is brave enough (sarcasm) to spend money and work with him. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

Every argument you have stated is only been proven wrong, if you are not upset because Dan didnt win then why? Please dont come off with tha rigged crap again, we both know the truth. You didnt like who won, you have commented on his looks, the way he dresses, that tends to make me think you have issues that have nothing to do with design. As for your comments concening design, and the runnings of a tv show please tell me what makes you able to make such statments? What design school did you attend? You see it is only about one thing, you feel you are right no matter what. I feel that it isnt fair that you are judging Antonio as you are. I am standing on a principal of respecting others, and you are standing on your ego. This is why integrity is so important, to stand up for those who are taking a beating for no reason. You are so quick to judge those on a tv show, even me someone you do not know. I wonder if you judge yourself as harsh, if not maybe you should take some time, look at yourself before you judge others. It is called kindness, I dont mind that you pick me, I find it funny.

One last thing, maybe you should give children a little more credit. After all I know for a fact they are required to handle almost twice the amount of work load in school. Computers are something we never dealt with in school, so to act as if a child hasnt the ablity to appericate great design is nothing short of insulting. I can only imagine what wonderful things our children will do. Most of my students show more respect then alot of the adults who are boycotting Antonio. I only hope they never judge anyone the way Antonio has been for doing nothing more then winning a contest.

As I said yes a room can be designed to grow with a child, however if you take a poll I would bet you would find that more then half, have a change of taste. My son loved red when he was growing up, now it is green, who knows what tommorrow brings. I purchased what I thought would be storage for life or at least till college. Even that didnt work, children these days have more and more stuff. Every year new storage comes out better then the year before, I took a poll in a high school class. I asked students to answer several questions about the way they would run a home. Almost sixty percent state they would redecorate, their rooms. Anyone can design a room to grow with a child, when you point Antonio cant it just shows your dislike for him. I have to ask why, what did he do to you? Because it would seem that he won a contest and is taking a lot of slaps to the face for doing nothing more or less then Dan or anyone else who played the game. I hope you think about the question, why you how you could hate someone so much to degrade another human being?

I am sorry you feel that way, yes children should be raised in a safe enviroment, as for controlled, politically correct, eco friendly. I personally dont feel children should be pressured to grow up. It is all to often that our children are worried about grades, money, and yes enviroment , and yes from the up roar over a speech to keep children in school politics. This is the reason it should be a given for a bedroom to be fun, as they get older yes it will need to be changed. I selected everything that would grow with my son, he is nine and has changed everything. It isnt a big deal to redo a room, I have found it useful when teaching to allow a child to design their own space. You would be amazed at just how smart the children of today truly are! As for the real world, again our children have time. I know for a fact that children grow up way to quick these days, they have worries that never should be placed on a child's shoulders.

My integrity is intact, because I am not a Dan fan and thought all the contestants were mediocre to worthless. The show was fixed in advance so that no talent Antonio would "win," by HGTV and its Sponsors, and falsely advertised as a "design contest." That is why Antonio could go help Lonni in the white room challenge, he couldn't lose! Even though his white room looked like crap and surely needed more work. Tashica shouldn't have been allowed on a REAL DESIGN SHOW.Remember when she was totally responsible for her team losing because she couldn't use a tape measure nor a level! And the team leader went home! I thought she was treated way too kindly.

If he has no way of standing up for his design, well just make you question him again. As for the water fall comment the family appericated it. Destroy Zen design, hell the water fall makes it Zen and helps drown out the white pergola Dan picked by himself, when his team mates were all gone. Your comments show just how small minded you are, what because Dan took his shirt off he's all that? Now lets be honest would you be happy with the 5,000.00 over budget if it were your money? I know your crazy about him taking off the shirt and all, but do you really want to pay that much to see it? If I am footing that bill, I want Brad Pit, something better. You are close minded and for that reason you are missing the point, HGTV could not afford to have a designer who could stay with in the budget. Grow up!!

As for children growing up in a room designed just for them, I think in todays world children are forced to quickly to grow up. So yes I feel a child should have a room that they can play, use their minds to have adventures. What is wrong with that? It seems from your comments you are more upset that Antoino is not dressed the way you prefer (slob) trying not calling people names. I guess you should watch the Backyard show again. Even Dan states that Antonio took over, one better is that Dan even agreed with what Antoino designed, I believe he said if he felt Antonio was going in a bad direction he would speak up. The only failure was your boy Dan who went over budget, one question would you be happy if your designer went over 5,000.00 and be honest he didnt seem to shaken up over his mistake.

Intergrity, you want to question my intergrity well lets do that. I never said Tashica could design, what I did say is that it seems more of HGTV viewers are outraged because their favorite wasnt selected, then being outraged at how the Judges treated a fellow human being. What does that say about each one of you outraged at Dans loss. Then lets go one further, Antonio helped Lonni finish her White room, a test that no contestant should need help on if they are good at what they do. Then lets look at Dans intergrity, he had no issue with throwing Tashica under the bus, then he attempted to throw Antonio it didnt work, then he went on to screw Torie out of her chance of winning, by almost sinking his entire team by making a purchase (what if it had been your 5,000.00) that didnt have any bang for the buck, nor good design. So Intergrity I feel mine is intact how is yours?

And be honest Antonio may have been a no non-sense (not taking crap) instead staying true to himself. I never saw Antonio throw his team mates to the lions to save himself, he was ready to take the blame for the pink birds, the refusal to paint tan, he even helped keep Lonnie in the game by helping her finish. Dan was finished why didnt he help if he is the angel who everyone feels the need to protect. Give me a break, he played the game, he was sneaky and made large mistakes. I hate that people feel that it is your right to throw a fit and sign petitions to take away from one to give to the other. It isnt fair, I have to ask myself two things, 1. Are the people who are so uspet the same ones who run onto a little league field throwing a fit becasue you feel your childs team should have won? 2. Where is Dan, what is his take on the way his Fans are handling his loss? I really what to hear how he feels about Antonio, I want to know if he agrees with the comments on this site? I only hope HGTV has the guts to not fold, if they do what will that say over fair play. I wonder if the people who feel as if Antoino show should be canceled have a friend, bother, son, who at one time or another all have a dream. But to have so many who wish for Antonio's dream should be ripped away. Only because they feel that in some way Dan's dream should be granted instead . I hope someone will sit and think what you are saying, you know nothing more about these two men then what you saw on the show.

Denjo, I couldnt believe it! You mean to tell me that Dan's fans feel the need to pass a pentition around due to what a miscarrage of justice. No they feel he was mistreated, when in fact the only person I saw on this show who was broken was done by Dan and Torie and her name was Tashica. I am pissed that Dans fans feel that because he didnt when he was some how mistreated. When lets face it people no one threw this boy under a bus, he put his team there and still never had the balls to stand up and take the blame, no instead Dan was hiding behing Torie. So petition you have to be kidding me, if and I am directing this to Dans fans if you feel he was ran over tell me how? I would like to know how many of you would like to pay the bill when he is designing your room to the tune of 5,000.00 . I have it why not sign a petition to have Dan come to your homes design your rooms and you foot the bill. But dont cry when he goes over budget or when your room looks just like everyone elses, Dan is noting more then the run of the mill designer, if he was as great as everyone thinks he wouldnt have needed a contest to gain his own show.

If you really watched the contest and his so called show Sunday , you'll see he is NO GENTLEMAN himself (talking about the sex that will be happening in his room or running off when caught bowling for sodas in the grocery store). Seems your judgment is misdirected. BTW, this is HGTV comment section, not the Christian network. It is only a cheap marketing tool they use to get quick feedback from their viewers. I think they are looking for honesty, not flowery words. Just to let you know, No one hates Antonio. As a matter of fact I feel sorry for the guy how he is being used by HGTV. Maybe they'll get him an assistant that will help him learn how to bring it all together, but then again — is that really fair to the other real designers who could have won or the viewers who looking for great inspiration?

Dan, Torie, Lonni were all mediocre designers. Tashica didn't seem to have any talent at all. Antonio could do a bit of execution, as in labor, but he has no design talent what so ever! So he, getting a design show, IS something to get mad about. Especially when he was pre-chosen to win DS, in a fraud perpetrated by HGTV and its sponsors! Two things to be mad about, if you love and know anything about design and integrity!

The term is ideas not ideals, Antonio has no ideals and his ideas stink. 2 TVs in one place? Which one will have the sound on? Your son loved the Dino room? Kids like anything new to play with, for now. How long before that stupid idea gets old, not exactly a place a kid can grow up in! Pink "geese" over the fire "place" is so tacky, pure slob! What did Antonio do in the backyard challenge? Fix the water fall? Yours is broken? Help Dan pick out an ugly pergola? you getting One of those? You have a Zen design that you want to destroy, as Antonio did? Perhaps because you don't know what Zen design is anymore than Antonio? He did do manual labor and that might be of help to you, if he would do what you tell him to do. Fat chance of that! The only good thing he did in that challenge, is that he kept his shirt ON!

I would be happy to say I loved his ideal of placing two tvs in one area, we too have many interest in our home which results in my husband not being able to watch Football. I also have a son who lovd the ideal of a Dino room, he loved the rocks around the windows, the extra storage under the bed. I also enjoyed his ideal contrast of the pink ducks over the fire department. I plan to use several of his ideals from the back yard chanllenge. I will be honest I like some of Antonios ideals, I also loved the white room Dan did! I plan on using his ideal in my kitchen, but I hope you will try to understand while Dan had some good ideals I have seen most before on Davids show, Gen show, Verns show he has taken ideals from all. I would like to see him grow and find his own design when he does I feel he will be unstopable.

I have to ask, if what story is true about the pergola? Do you mean that Dan took it upon himself made a decission that ( the home owner would have had to pay) if not for HGTV footing the bill. This is not a small mistake this is a large amount of money, it took them well over budget!!! What if this was a joint design effort with another Designer, he would have point both in risk of losing the job. So Dan isnt perfect and this could be why HGTV decided to go another direction. I have to ask you, put yourself in HGTV shoes, you hire Dan. You sign a contract to have a show that is going to be running on a budget, with that said watch the show where Dan went way to far, would you feel the result was worth 5,000.00 over budget. To me that big white pergola stood out like a sore thumb, why didnt they just get the crew to build one they are very simple to build, they even come in kits it would seem a professinal like Dan he would have know better. I also note his team mates were upset but he didnt seem to be concerned at all, but then it wasnt his money!!!

Watched my first and last "Antonio" . I realize that the network is looking for a new group of viewers, but those of us who have watched this network forever are NOT looking for designs that are so far out we would never look twice at rhem. As the parent of 30 something kids, this is not what they are looking for either. As for the group of people who like his design, I am not sure if they have ever heard of HGTV! Sorry that you didn't think that Dan was worthy of being the Star, but I loved him and his designs. I see enough "odd" folks when I am out shopping. You know what the sad thing is, about this whole thing? It truly shows how stupid this whole thing really is, no one got this outraged over a show that smashed Tashica. Yet all of you are up in arms over the fact the one you thought should win didnt, where were all of you when Dan, Lonni, Torie were blaming their failures on others. Dan threw his team under the bus several times, what goes around comes around. HGTV is being hammered along with Antoino, and for wha because he won a contest. Come on every single time my husbands football team loses he gets his pantys in a bunch, hell I am made that the NFL would allow a football player to play after fighting dogs. That is something to get mad about, but you guys are going to far you are dogging a man for nothing more then doing his best and winnig. Antoino shouldnt be blamed for something he had no control over.

Finally someone who knows enough to give an honest view point!!!! I agree totally I dont know about everyone else I can only speak for myself, I want something new. I am tired of each designer saying how different, how their design is so unique. Then to watch and see that several of them are so close that you have to make sure of which show you are watching. I am glad HGTV is trying something new. What is worst is the way adults are acting about Dan losing. My honest thought is that Dan is to quick to change his design style, I dont feel he has found his design style. When he does he is talented enough to go far, but first he has to find himself.

As for the comment of Dan copying David, yes they both paint. But and it isa big one, how many designers do we need on tv that do the same thing. If you are attempting to say that Dan's painting is so similar to David you are mistaken. I agree that Dan has education on his resume, with that said education isnt everything experience comes in handy as well!! My entire point is that it should depend on education, there are people who ave raw talent. Now I know what you are going to say next, Antoino has no talent, that again is your view point, My view point is that I am ready for a change. Dan hasnt found himself yet as a designer, and just so you know I always do my research. Yes Dan was on season three for more then a few seconds, he was on like several of the others that were selected for the show.

My point was clear, I read several comments where statments were made that "Antonio is a set designer Dan is a real designer " I made the comment that neitther were working as Designers before the show started. I feel that you dont have to be labled a designer in order to be talented. So you missed the point entirely, I dont feel that anyone should be pointing the finger at Antonio because people feel set designers are not talented. Also your statment about Todd is incorrect, he showed his talent and it translate very well on tv.

I knew Antonio was going to win only because he is different and he can bring up something fresh and new that HGTV needs. I watched his show on Sunday, well I had to stay up till 10:00 pm because around 7:00 my hubby was watching his football game. I like Antonio's style and his personality, however I hope in his next show he is going to start working with people outside his friends and fam. I know the first show was an intro to his own life, wich was cool. I enjoyed it. I can't wait for his upcoming shows. And its true, If it wasn't for real state intervention alot of the shows would all look the same…. The Antonio Project mos def brings something unique to HGTV. I love it.

EI watched Anioni's first show last night, it will be the last for me. He is coarse, crude, and made several sexually suggestive remarks in the bedroom. I am not a prude, but you can see that sort of thing on any network, it certainly doesn't fit with the quality programs on HGTV. It was obvious from the beginning that Candice favored Antonio over the other designers. I really admire her designs because they are beautiful and she listens to her clients. Not so much for Antonio. I pretty much agreed with the eliminations until it got down to sending Loni home. I think her designs were fresh and beautiful. Don't think she should have been sent home because her head board wasn't mounted on the wall. I watched Antonio's show last night and won't be watching it again. All he did was shop and introduce his scuzzy friends and comment on trying to score with the sale lady. The design was not very appealing. Shame on you HGTV!!! I expect better. You produced David and Kim and I watch their shows on a regular basis and really enjoy the designs. This season's show was not up to you usual standards.

WELL —- I watched Antonio's show last night just to give him a try. It is so sad that HGTV has really missed their mark. Yes he is VERY DIFFERENT and not in a good way. He just doesn't understand the principals of design. He may have had a few unique things happening within all his rooms, but everyone of them looked unfinished and without flow. He does not know how to bring it all together. In my opinion his home was very tacky especially that ugly headboard. He mad a statement that he wanted to make sure that disgusting headboard was attached securely because of what he THINKS will be happening in his bedroom — YUK !!! I don't want to know his sexual fantasies!!! . He then makes some statement about a possibility of "future girlfriend material" of the woman in the furniture store — in his dreams!!! Antonio you need to head on down to the local tattoo shop or biker store and you'll find your type there, not at a fine furniture store. Also, I did not find the edited clips from Design Star entertaining either when he proceeds to bowl soda bottles with what looked like a watermelon down the isle of a grocery store. When caught by the manager, he runs off like the child that he is. HGTV — if we wanted to watch a show like that we'd turn on "JACK ASS" of which those words describes Antonio perfectly.

HGTV thought they could attract new viewers to the network by throwing in a new show with a new host completely different than what they've had in the past. So they picked Antonio. The viewers who might be interested in listening to Antonio are currently watching shows like Miami Ink and Monster Garage. Those viewers DO NOT watch design shows on HGTV and never will – with or without Antonio. HGTV missed the mark and Antonio's show will soon bomb. Chalk this one up as a Fail, HGTV.

How is it that some people are offended that Antonio got picked? Dan was a good designer with NO personality whatsoever. Most of his designs appealed to feminine sensibilities, which is probably why most of the complaints in this posts are from women who didn't get their way. GROW UP. You got a "freebie" last year.

Everbody knows that Matt was 10 times the designer that Jennifer was, certainly in the competition. He designed and built furniture while she painted things…. but because DESIGN STARS audience is like 90% female(or feminine), Jennifer got the vote. NOT FAIR. But this is not at all about being fair. It's about being equitable. Why not have an edgy, straight, non conventional designer win? When was the last time you saw one of those hosting a show on HGTV?

I wish the design snobs that write their elitist comments here would just find someone else to pick on. Antonio won and he'll do well because he's just bold enough to be himself.

What I'm reading from a few dozen posters is a misguided and confused trail of twisted semantics. "Edgy" is NOT another word for obnoxious. "Creative" is NOT synonymous with ignoring your client's express wishes. "Different" is NOT equal to crude behavior. "Personality" is NOT a code word for profanity. "Original" is NOT a new meaning for lack of talent.

I understand that a few folks would like to put a positive spin on a bad decision by the judges and HGTV, but until something more substantial and coherent is brought to the table of discussion here, the vast majority are not going to buy it. I certainly don't.

OK I tried to watch Antonio tonight even though I thought Dan was a much better designer…but that was absolutely TACKY! I know HGTV wanted a "new type" of host but how about one with talent? That was the first and last time I will watch his show. I know that drama sells and HGTV probably likes having the contraversy but I'm sure in time they would rather have viewers…read the comments and I think it obvious who the majority of viewers want to see…DAN!

It will be interesting to see Antonio's show. Compared with his audition tape with the final announcement as the winner you can see the HGTV really invested a lot of time and energy in "Cleaning him up." At first I did not like him, but he grew on me. i'm willing to give him a chance.
