Of course he's our favorite, he was the best. So now, how soon does Antonio's contract end so he can be replaced with style and grace a la Dan?
I agree 100%. I was so disappointed with the judges. I think they were trying to attract a new audience.
I agree! What were the judges thinking? From the beginning, Dan's designs were the best.
I also agree 100 percent. I will not be watching you-know-who's over-the-top designs on TV but will be watching this fantastic Designer create Kids Rooms on my PC. Hope they transfer the shows to TV, though, because this subject has never received the attention it needs.

Antonio's "YO" antics will get old soon . He wasn't the classiest designer either in his designs or certanly not in his on air presentation . Dan ,unfortunately the judges were determined to put forth something "dfferent" . Well they got it !!
If hosting was so important, why didn't the judges pick up on how Antonio started each hosting with, "Yo, what's up?" Gimme a break! And didn't we see those tears of Antonio's twice– at the end of each of the last two shows… In Candace's words, "Those aren't tears, tears. They're tears tears." What does that mean???!!
I believe that was 'Yo, w'sup?"
And what a about his nicer personality. Antonio has a bad temper… how long can he really work for HGTV?
You are so right……I for one will NOT be watching Antonio. He was the most annoying person. No class, no style……too much "in your face". HGTV struck out on that one for sure.
I wont be watching anything that street rat does, I can't even stand his commercial. He stole Nathans white room idea for his big premier. Did U notice?

I agree! Dan's designs were the type you might actually see in someone's home. I can't imagine have Antonio's designs in my home or any of my friends. He has talent, but I think set design or that type of thing is more his style. I couldn't believe the bedroom he did on the last night. His seating arragement was a black leather couch and that was it. Really made me want to cozy up with a book on a cold winter night…NOT!

Yes, Dan was the best! It's too bad the Judges didn't see that! It's more important to give the client what they want instead of going outside the box and buying furniture that looked liked a hobbit shopped for! I would for Dan to come and do work in my homeI live in central California. In the season finale I loved what he did to hide the TV over the fireplace. I have been looking for ideas to hide my flat screen TV that doesn't cost a fortune. I was also 100% diappointed!!!
I was shocked that Candice and Vern would pick Antonio. I think someone other than the judges picked him. I watched his show last night and the big black roses and the 9 foot women said it all. Get rid of him now.
Absolutely agree. The best thing we can do is NOT watch his show.

no contest….definitely the best is Dan and his stunning and elegant creative design. Fabulous. Great taste in choice of everything

obviously the judges didn't agree with you and Dan's fans so they chose the other designer Antonio
they did however, give you all the opportunity to have a voice in nominating your Fave designer and because of your votes and others Dan has been awarded an online show

I agree, totally. Dan is the Best after David Bromstead. Dan deserves a show, not Antonio. With any luck, his show will be cancelled and HGTV will see they made the mistake in not letting the viewers vote for the winner like they did for the last 3 seasons. To me, it looks like they, HGTV, didn't want Dan to win so that is why the public wasn't allowed to vote.
I watched an episode where Dan and David competed and Dan won! I do like them both! I don't like Antonio and his house project!

I just watched the show last night on Tivo. I couldn't believe my ears when the winner was announced. I felt like crying for Dan. He was clearly a much better designer than Antonio. I thought Antonio was just lucky. Watching the show from week to week I didn't think Antonio should have made it to the bottom two. The judges realy got this one wrong. Dan I hope your online show goes well, and so well they put you on the network. Your designs were tateful and people loved them.
I couldn't agree more. There is still a lot to be said for Class and Respect of which Antonio has neither.
I do hope he gets a shot at TV.
I agree! Dan is the rightful winner of the show. The design alone plus personality makes him the winner.. not Antonio!

I agree. The fans spoke. I will not be watching Antonio. He was rude and at times down right mean to most of the other contestants and I did not see any real design quality that I would want to use. My HGTV shows that I simply will not miss are Color Splash and Divine Design. Dan reminded me of a bit of both but brought another wonderfully new "original" element. What do we have to do to get him on TV?

Hi totally agree – Dan was by far the best, Lonni was 2nd…Antonio from the first turned me off as far as his attitude and his designs.. Best of Luck Dan… looking forward to seeing you 'online'

I didn't know how diappointed I was until I watched the finals again!!! I believed that Dan's design style was to close to David,Color Splash and they made the choice early on not to allow him to win. How sad it is in this time that we still can not get ahead with our talent we still must be subjected to people judging us from their prejudice. Dan Is The Winner!!!

I agree. I am so frustrated that Dan wasn't chosen. I had alot of faith in and watch the shows of Candace, Verne and Genevieve….but what a mistake on this call! They really got this one wrong.
I will definitely replace the HGTV TV watching for Dan's online show.

I'm with you. Every time I see Antonio advertisting his show, it makes me bad. I really feel like Dan got cheated. His house was so much better. i will be watching Dan on the computer. The public got it right and the so called judges didn't.

I was really disappointed that Dan did not win. Antonio is a nice guy; however, he does not have the style Dan does for decorating rooms. I will miss Dan's great smile & nervous laugh.
Dmaggie, Dan was giggly, and his talent was excellent but Antonio was better and he had the goods, being a set designer. The way you guys have treated Antonio is absurdly rude.

You don't have to insult one designer to like another. Antonio wasn't your taste but he IS a good designer, the camera loves him because he's real. Maybe you're just not used to seeing a straight designer. He's not getting cancelled because there are plenty of us that have been waiting for an Antonio to hit the HGTV scene and we'll be tuning in every time he's on. His first show "The Antonio Project" did so well that they had an encore. I and all of my friends & family watched them both.
I don't see how you can say that Antonio has any taste. He is very crude and I will not be watching his program.. I thought that Dan has great design taste and he is a very nice looking guy and is great at designing a room that anyone would want!!!!!!
I'm disgusted that HGTV threw Dan this bone! He's the true Design Star! We who love Dan and prefer him and his well thought out designs are not fooded by this ploy on HGTV's part. The powers that be on HGTV prefer a greasy dirt-bag to Dan, a true designer. Dan, you're the man!.
HGTV did not throw Dan "a bone". The online show was in the works for many weeks, without the knowledge of the contestants. You had the opportunity to vote 10 times a day on the HGTV website for your favorite designer to win their own online show. Both Dan and Antonio are winners in what was a very competitive contest.
The judges had to make a tough call. Both designers are very talented, but Antonio was the most consistent, week after week.
Be sure to support Dan by viewing his online show. Who knows? Maybe with enough viewership, it could lead to Dan securing his own televised HGTV show.
Ms. Stevens your attitude of "sour grapes" is very unbecoming.
I only watched DESIGN STAR once…the episode leading up to the finale. I was very excited to watch, because I was trained in art & design and have many friends that are interior designers.
But I couldn't bare to tune in for the finale! When it came down to the two guys, something in my gut told me that the judges would go for the loud, brash, trashy looking guy…the yoah-guy, the Rocky, Rambo-guy! OMG! That Antonio guy!
Not for me, thank you very much. I want a cool designer. Not someone that grosses me out!
Dan, yes is sweet and mild mannered and I guess that wasn't enough for compelling tv, but from the sounds of this online thing he won…I think Dan will do just fine. His fans adore him and he will have a loyal following. I'm sure he will be able to develop a line of products and really make an even bigger name for himself.

I too was VERY disappointed that Dan did not win Design Star; however, it was evident from the start that Candice and Genevieve were smitten with Antonio. His individual efforts did not come close to the creativity or "class" of Dan's. I would not refer to him as a dirt-bag – he was simply chosen for his individual personality rather than what we saw of his creative design. I also wonder why his first project is to re-design his own house; who is he going to disappoint? Himself? I hope that fan voices will be heard and Dan will be given TV opportunities. I would love to see more of his unique style.
I think that the episode when Dan made everyone fall for him was the WHITE ROOM PROJECT, and if you notice, that is the only neat and outstanding project….and what a coincidence, that is the only project that all contestants know will face: THE WHITE ROOM…it is obvious that he calculated everything even before going to the show….that is why it was sooo perfect.

I agree with you. I was totally dissappointed last Sunday that Antionio won. I didn't see anthing great about his designs. I'm very happy that at least he won this. That he will have a foot in the door. I was also disappointed on the food network with there choice for food network star. I don't see what they see in him or the one for the food network.
yeah, he seems pretty gross and has no training or panache, turns me off HGTV
Was Dan to much like David from Color Splah? Their style and their ability to paint pictures and their crazy laugh and smile, could this be the reason Dan with all his talent and abilities came up short? Was really let down with the way HGTV changed the game this season. Not that Antonio was not a good designer BUT he did NOT out do Dan. YOU are the Best Dan!
I totally agree. Did you see the 9 foot woman that Antonio did for his bedroom. He is a joke. Design Star has now also become a joke. The fix was in. If you listen to Vern's comments, Antonio made major bad decisions and the produces wanted him anyway. Total loss of creditability
This year the audience of HGTV got a real slap in the face with Antonio as being the new design star. I don't think HGTV cares about their audience very much as they claim to. Dan is the design star despite the phony vote. I like Dan's designs even better than David, who has designed some rooms I didn't care for at all. Dan can do better than HGTV. He can make a lot of the designers look like amateurs. Candice is one of the best designers on HGTV, but she probably spends thousands of dollars to make her rooms look like that too.
A little harsh don't you think?! Different designs appeal to different people…Antonio isn't afraid to think outside the box. I love Dan as well but come on lighten up!!

Lonni and Dan were much better designers. Candice fell for Antanio and seemed to infuence the other judges. Lonni and Dan: you are much more interesting and people are going to get tire of Antonio's arogance. But then again maybe Antonio will make next years's Design star more enjoyable. HGTV can't continue to add a new host every year. Someone has to go. Let it be Antonio. Oh what the heck, I still miss Matt and Shari.
