Jennifer Bertrand Update

Jennifer, a fan favorite and winner of season three, wrote a wonderful guest post over at Jenean Morrison: Art, Design and Inspiration blog that tells what she’s been up to and the heartwarming story of her son.

  1. Where is Myles of Style? Really liked her show. Are the viewers going to be stuck with crude arrogant untalented Antonio in prime time when there are talents like Kim Myles, Jen, and Dan Vickery available. Surely Antonia must be some bad joke HGTV is attempting to put over on viewers.

  2. I am only able to watch HGTV until about 6pm on the weekends and not during the week. When can I catch Paint Over and I can't seem to catch Miles of Style any more. Lots of shows telling me how to sell my home! I want to improve and change it, not sell.

  3. I am glad HGTV brings a variety of designers to the screen. I am able to take something away from every designer. Just because I would never live in a beige or Colonial home doesn't mean I can't see the beauty and creativity of the style. I look forward to Antonio moving me further out of the box and giving me new ideas. Candice Olson's style is so gorgeous, but totally out of my budget. I still pull color and texture from her designs. I am a showroom coordinator in real life and spend 45 hours a week building displays and merchandising toys to entice the wholesale buyers from all size companies. I even find a couple of ideas and 'rules' from the designers that help with my job. Keep up the good work HGTV and thank-you for giving us variety and showing all forms of design. We all have different tastes, but open-minded people can appreciate the differences. :)

    • Linda you would get fired from your job if you follow anything Antonio does and that is being open minded. Try the gun tooting sombrero lady in your displays or the brass knuckles or the horrible green color, the list just goes on and on. I hope you can keep your job for a long time but following antonio will not be the way to go.

  4. I couldn't find any recent news about Jen here on HGTV so I started searching the web. I ended up finding a news article that tells all. I'm including a link to it at the end of this post. It says that the five-episode series "Paint Over," has been canceled. "While that's all the episodes of the series that we plan to produce at this time, it doesn't preclude us from working with Jennifer in the future," said Eddie Ward of Dera, Roslan & Campion Inc. Public Relations in New York. "We evaluate many factors, including fit with long-term programming strategy, before making decisions about the future of any HGTV series."

  5. C'mon, HGTV, give Jennifer more episodes and advertise her like you did the other winners, particularly the latest, Antonio. She deserves it for winning, for her talent, and for how she's dealing with difficulty. Jennifer has obviously gathered a lot of fans for her show despite the poor way you slid her show into an afternoon slot with little to now promotion!

  6. Wow! What has happened to all of our favorite shows? Color Splash, Mliles OFStyle.Design On A Dime, Devine Design. All we see now night after night is people looking at empty houses what do you think anyone gets out of that? But of course coming up taking the place of the great designers we will have the nut case Antonio who thinks he is designing for the homeless! Trust me no one wants to watch this arrogant no talent
no taste idiot on any show. We are going to other stations that provide some decent shows.

  7. Look at her portfolio, it is amazing! She is a very talented woman and I don't know for certain but I think that HGTV purposefully set this show up to fail. I pretty frequently have to look at her salon makeover and the amazing patterns she did on the wall. It really has nothing to do with Jen. Here are the clues I think that point out that they wanted this to fail.

1)Lack of advertising- I basically watch HGTV all day while I work and I not once saw an add for this show. Not until i googled "what in the world happened to Jennifer Bertrand?" did I find out the show already happened?
    2) Quality of construction- The logo looks cheap, the intro looks like a terrible flash job, it seemed to have barely any music clips, and the cutting was off. For instance, the first episode they put everything that is in a normal episode out of sequence. Should go inspirational story, talk about design, working, reveal. Not talk about design, inspirational story, hardly any working, reveal, a bit more working, reveal. No build up of anticipation. They also show too much of design in the coming up section.
3)Also I saw on this website that Jennifer had commented to her fans for her support and it said that if you want to see more of me on HGTV write them and let them know, before her show even came out! Which is why I think they were not fully supportive. Definitely not same effort went into this show as "color splash"

Anyways, Good Luck Jen in whatever you end up doing! I am sure you will have success on air or off air.
