• Tell Your Friends

Inspiration comes in all different places, but sometimes you need inspiration on demand. For times like that I hit the net. I start off by looking at the rooms that HGTV viewers like YOU send in for Rate My Space. After that, I go to my favorite blog (second to Design Happens, of course!).

Desire to Inspire has hundreds of new inspiring images of professionally designed spaces each week. Daily, they update the blog with pictures of beautiful and unique homes. When I’m decorating someone’s home, I ask them to go to Desire to Inspire to tell me what spaces they are attracted to. When I’m decorating my own home, I spend weeks saving images from Desire to Inspire in my “Inspiration Files” and then one night, I sit down and try to figure out what all of my favorite rooms have in common.

Clearly, all of the spaces I’ve been drawn to lately have crisp white walls. This weekend, I’m throwing a painting party with all my girlfriends and covering up the color in my living room with a fresh, clean, white.

Of course HGTV inspires me. I am adicted to the website for design ideas. I'm surprise that crisp white walls are making a comeback. I've always thought that art work and everything in the room looked better with color on the walls. I do however really like white cabinets in the kitchen. I have been wanting to paint my oak cabinets white, but I'm nervous about taking that on. Any Suggestions? P.S. My sister can't see this blog about white walls. We have had an ongoing argument about color for years. Now she will be so happy that "white is in".

Those rooms are so amazing. I love the white walls! It always surprises me how full a room can look even with white walls.

Speaking about inspiration, have you seen the new website, http://www.sweetretreatkids.com

I'm hooked! I bought a whole room for my daughter! Yes, a whole room… the bed, dresser, night stand, rug, ceiling fan, wall art, chair, lamp, bedding & curtains.. all in one place, from the comfort of my home! I had a hard time choosing from the safari theme and the princess theme, but I finally went with the princess theme. And check out the pirate ship playground equipment. I've never seen anything quite like it. Check it out!

Those rooms are perfection. My wife doesnt think that white rooms can feel warm, but i feel the opposite. I just showed her this blog and I think i might have changed her mind. These rooms have such a calming feeling. Thanks Lindsey!
