Whenever February rolls around, I always start thinking about Spring, knowing that warmer weather and longer sun-filled days are just around the corner.

My husband and I got a jump start this year and painted our living room wall a soft, buttery yellow to bring some warmth and a bit of sunlight to our dark space.  So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that yellow is the hot color for Spring and its everywhere… shoptalkbuzz.blogspot.com has some inspiring design ideas for adding a punch of this golden hue to your home and wardrobe. Even Pantone, the leading color authority has named Mimosa as its delicious color of the year!

So add a little spring to your space and share your ideas for how you’re inspired by this sunny color.

  1. The only place that the color yellow doesn't work well is in a laundry room which has no natural light. Yes, yellow would make the room cheerful, however; in my experience, you never know if your whites are truly white because the yellow of the walls reflects on them.

Yellow in Fung Shui is a family and friends color and promotes good feelings and communication. I have had a buttercup yellow living room, dining room and kitchen for years and everyone comments on how good they feel in my home. We never have any discord with guests or family either. Yellow is also in the gold family which represents royalty. Most other colors also go with it.

I have used a soft butter yellow color for cabinetry with much success. We did a job with a soft yellow paint over cherry and then sanded the door to allow the cherry to show through. It was a peacefull kitchen.
