A few years back my mom was getting rid of some old furniture and I took and old hutch off her hands. I gave it a quick coat of paint and figured I’d use it for a little while, at least until I found a cabinet that I really wanted. Well before I knew it, several years passed and I’ve still got that old hutch which, in all honesty, I don’t really like. Plus it has turned into the catch all cabinet for random glassware.
I’ve decided to start an earnest search for a replacement. Browsing through the HGTV marketplace (http://marketplace.hgtv.com/) I’ve found a few potential choices.
I like the size of this cabinet from Target.

How exciting is this color? (also from Target)
And the McAllister Small Buffet/Hutch from Crate and Barrel is just elegant.
Do you have a piece of furniture that was only meant to be a place holder and turned out to be more permanent?

It’s hard to tell from the picture but if you like dark wood (like your last choice), your current cabinet looks pretty good. I have some of the assemble yourself furniture that I bought for my first apartment years ago! Not in prominent places, but in an office or storage room where functionality is the priority, it’s fine!
