Last summer, Justin and I were fortunate to have purchased a home that was once inhabited by an avid gardener. This spring, we delighted in the colors bursting all around our yard. Bless you, gardening angel. What a gift to wake up on Holy Saturday to find purple and white irises abloom! Especially when you didn’t even know they were there.
A few days later, Chelsey and I were excited to hear what Michael Payne would say to a packed room of interior designers and furniture industry insiders at High Point Market.
I was most struck by his emphasis on nature and its impact on design. Michael shared lovely photographs of flowers from his garden; one of which had influenced the creation of a piece of furniture he designed.

Wednesday, while working from home, I was moved to capture some spring grandeur on a most glorious day. Indeed, I was inspired.

This spring bloom is my favorite so far. The color combination is breathtaking and might have inspired the design direction for our guest bath.
Michael Payne introduces a new furniture collection in September. See a sampling (and a pretty cool website) on www.michaelpayne.com. Not surprising, coming from a designer who has a history in both computers and interior design. “To be inspired by nature is the greatest inspiration of all,” Michael said.
I, most emphatically, would agree. What inspires you? Please share.

I too am always taken back by what nature has to offer us. After hearing Michael’s speak at High Point, I now want to bring the beauty of nature into my home thru design. What a great seminar!
