Living on the Gulf Coast we have a problem with lots of bugs. My next outing I'm trying a name brame mouth wash, in little dishes, hoping this will help.

Try tea tree oil instead! You don't have to burn it. You can put on yourself, the kids , pets and everyone. It isn't as cheap as the mouth wash but the benefits are great! You can get tea tree oil at your local health food store, drugstore or beauty supply vendor. Tea tree oil will keep the bugs away, help bites heal faster and the smells isn't bad, either.

My biggest challenge is being able to keep the items containing mayonnaise and other ingredients that spoil easily cool/cold while sitting out on the table without making anyone sick. That is a BIG problem here in SC.

Try planting citronella plants in the more active areas of your yard. The plants are inexpensive and work great to ward off pesty bugs.

I'm restricted to having my outdoor parties at night or in the late evenings when the sun goes down enough for my house to give shade onto my patio. I need some type of shade/rain shelter that will keep my guests protected from the elements.

A GIANT congrats to Valerie LaFrenier! Yay for you!

I know you can buy citronella candles for those types of lanterns. Also, If bugs are an issue, we have found that Skin-So-Soft by Avon can be rubbed on your bodies (even little ones) and it will keep the bugs away…and I guess keep your skin so soft?!?!

Also, make sure to check out the HGTV Dream Home 2010 site on this Design Happens site! It is fabulous and leads you to the fabulous webcam showing the progress of the Heaven Dream Home in New Mexico! You can also see it through the Dream Home Blog!

Cant believe I missed this one! My husband wants this latern so bad!

  10. HGTV Dreamhome("Greenhome")2009 Give-away drives me crazy and possibility of winning it hunts me night and day… considering that pick-up truck as my DreamVehicle since I was a teenager… but that garden lantern could have been a great consolation for me in case that Dreamhome remains only a dream. It's sad I've missed it. Our backyard in-pool could have had a great romantic recess during my intimate moments with my husband (with that lantern on our side, of course!) and tension-releasing colloquy nook for my kids. I'm sure, they would love it, too! Wish myself really good luck next time! More power to HGTV!!! —- ALWAYS A GREAT DEAL… giving me great ideas to live out as a wife, a mother, a teacher and a housekeeper.
