For this week, we want to know what’s the one thing in your house that you are the most proud of? Got a killer couch or maybe you hand crafted your own pillows? Did you paint the kids rooms in one weekend? We want to know!
If you’re not already showing it off, go upload it to Rate My Space. Or if you’re still looking a really great piece of furniture check out Leslie’s post from yesterday with an early look at some of the new pieces coming from HGTV designer Angelo Surmelis. If green is your thing, Kristine is always on the hunt for some inspiration.
Have a great weekend!

I am most proud of the oak shelfs, oak plaques and the crown molding my husband has done in our home.
Believe it or not, it’s the patch job I did on the hallway ceiling. We just moved into our first house, and I stepped through the attic the first week we were there. I’m a total amateur at home repair, but thanks to some fresh paint and a lot of spackle it’s barely noticeable.
I am proud of the remodeling we are doing in our 60 year old house. Last summer we gutted the bathroom and remodeled with new tiles, tub, fixtures, etc. Then we started remodeling our dining room and into the hallway by pulling up the old carpet and parque flooring then laying all new oak hardwood flooring, new oak woodworking, painted the walls and new window treatments. We liked the look so much we continued into our son’s room. We are currently finishing the master bedroom which included redoing the inside of the closet. We are doing all this work ourselves. After the bedroom is completed we will start on the spare room (includes my husband’s at home office) then on to the living room. It all takes time since we are mostly doing this work in the evening and weekends but when done, it will be well worth it.
I am proud of a tile job I did around a gas fireplace insert. It was the first time I worked with tile, and it turned out quite nicely.
I am still working on my small dark bathroom trying to turn from retro to a small but calming retreat. Its a work in progress
We just redid a small 3/4 bath and it turned out so well, that everytime I walk by it to go into my office/spare bedroom I am so proud. We did a beach theme and it is just so darling. I love it.
I absolutely love the ocean themed tablescape! I live in Idaho and don’t often get to see or smell the sea.
I just wall papered my whole kitchen. I did it in two days, and it is a big kitchen. It was hard going around kitchen cabinets and such but I am pretty proud of what I did! I have DIY to thanks for what I did accomplish.
I’m most proud of the outside of my house. We recently painted the brick and put on shutters. The house is so beautiful now.
I am very proud of the walls in my bathroom that I faux painted. They turned out beautiful. I put on 2 shades of gray and touches of medium brown thru-out. Everyone that sees it thinks it is wallpaper.
I am definitely most proud of an entertainment center I got from a thrift store and faux painted in a weekend. I love it and enjoy looking at it every time I go into my living room. It took 4 guys to get it in my house so it is here to stay.
I have a custom made Southwest twig cd cabinet that fits perfectly in the corner of my living room. Since my house is decorated in a Western/Native American style, it really ties together all my other artifacts.
Our dining room is the most attractive area in our home with a very large dining room table with 8 chairs, a beautiful cherry hutch, and a chandelier from the Murano Glass Factory in Italy.
Easily it would be my Grandmothers sewing machine. It’s a very old (90 year) White pedal foot model that I use now as a hall table.
It’s special as I live in what was her home but it has been renovated for modern life.
But the sewing machine is a daily reminder of the lady who lived here and was loved.
I have several things I have saved from the salvage yard. One mans trash… I rescued a very pretty chair, which is in my living room. I am in love with the shape. I picked up some material and am going to reupholster it. I get so many ideas from DIY and HGTV, thank you.
What I am most proud of about my house is that because I have succeeded in not allowing anything into it that I don’t love, I have created a cohesive look that goes together without actually matching.
I created “themed” rooms for my two little boys by focusing on what they love as individuals, versus resorting to an off-the-shelf, commercial, character-type (think superheros, movies, etc.) theme. To purchased, high-end bedspreads (again, no “character” stuff!) I added many tailored and hand-made elements (e.g., artfully decorated their ceiling fans, made matching pillows, painted dresser knobs, etc.). The end result has a fun, quality, “Pottery-Barn” look, but did not cost me a fortune. And my little guys absolutely love their rooms.
I am most proud of my bedroom. I love modern design and no where is this more evident than in my bedroom.
I am proud of the stained glass lamps throughout my home that I have made. They create a warm and welcoming feeling to every room.
I love love love my entertainment armoir. I bought all the furniture in my house around it! It is beautiful!
My vacation photos inspire me daily because I have them made into canvas wraps to hang for all to enjoy!
It’s all about color and the atmosphere it creates. I am most proud of the color I painted the walls in my living room, dining room and hallway. It is by Behr but I can’t recall the exact name. It is a muted moss green color that creates such a warm cozy feeling. When I moved in the walls were an off white which left the place feeling cold and seriously lacking. Once I painted, my place automatically felt much more comfortable, like a home should. It also created a great background for my taupe sofa, and chocolate wood pieces of furniture, as well as the deep cranberry accents I used. I absolutely LOVE this color and truly enjoy being in this space. It is so serene and relaxing.
When a family member became very ill and had to stay inside I decided to change my cool living room colors to a warmer more cozy atmostphere. I ignored my hideous seafoam green carpet, and went with 3 walls of tomatoe bisque with the remaining two and connecting kitchen warm medium beige. Gold sheer drapes atop matchstick shades bring in a sunny glow through the many windows. Somehow it all works together (including that ugly carpet – another time!). I think it made staying indoors just a little easier. Pat
Of all my things collected and passed down over the yrs. One of my favorite treasures are pictures of my famlies farm which has been with us about 115 yrs now. There are 3 of the pictures that I have on a wall with pictures of my Grandparents and an Aunt and Uncle around them. Have also incorperated some wheat, after all it is in wheat country of Oklahoma.
My favorite place inside the house is our master bedroom suite. Along with the four-poster pecan king bed with lots of pillows and great linnes my jacuzzi tub has its own flat screen tv above it- a special gift from my hubby.
I have a NEW home!! My first home–and at 48, I am very very proud of that! I love everything about the home, the yard, I LOVE IT ALL! I am quite proud of the landscaping and the inside furniture & design. Come see me sometime!
My husband and I have been collecting African decor for over 22 years and since it has been so popular lately, everyone that comes in is in awe!!! We love all the animal prints and my mom has even made quilts that are quilted with elephants stiched into them. We have a 6 foot hand carved giraffe eatting from a palm tree in the dining room and it is my favorite accent.
Recently bought two free standing metal stands and on the front there are graphics. I thought it would be a good idea to use the back recessed area as a frame. I love the look, from the back you have the graphics and on the front are my pictures.
I’m always looking for ways to maximize vertical space. I’m most proud of our master closet (10′ ceilings) and by using various “stackers”, baskets, bins, and all labeled for convenience I now don’t have to guess where anything is. I also have a small two step stool which makes everything (even from the upper shelf) very accessible.
We’ve completely remodeled our 20+ year old condo, and as novices learning each step along the way! My favorite change: my husband learned how to do professional venetian plaster application and purchased an authentic Italian trowel to boot. It’s made all the difference. Now our walls are truly a touch of Italy. I love it.
The one thing I am most proud of is my back deck.Is was barn red and in need of help, so I painted it a nice ch.milk brown with white railing, I made a beautiful pastle swing cushing cover with matching pillows and planted some purple petuins in clays pots. Country living at its finest.
I love our new back porch. My husband gutted it and built it up to make it into a relaxing area to be in. He put in wood paneling, installed lights and carpeting and a built-in heater so that we can use it in the late fall and early spring.
Hello:
We moved into our dream home two years ago. I came across some curtain material that was left behind, and decided to re-cover my desk swivel chair in our sitting room. It was just the finishing touch to the room. I now enjoy my private space where I can sip some tea and enjoy the fireplace.
I recently used word art in my living room, on my purple walls. It is a saying about Faith. After my divorce it is a very powerful reminder.
I was able to acquire a unique and fabulous Dining Room Table set from a high end furniture store that was closing their doors a few years ago. Even their clearance price was beyond my budget. Determined to own this piece of funtional art, I held out for a couple of weeks coming back every few days and making an offer. Finally, it came down to the final days and I contacted the out of state CFO of the company and made him the offer. He accepted it! It’s been a great conversation piece with anyone that set eyes upon it since!
Finally after 6 years and watching many different HGTV decorating ideas we decided to take a risk to update our living room.
It looks fantastic!
The couches are white just beautiful. Wall is peachy color , new TV flat screen, TV stand, shelves and great new lamps, that look like wall paper!
It took a while but finally its done and welcoming cozy HGTV style living room.
Just love it!
I love my patio room, it is my relaxing oasis at the end of a busy day! I incorporate pots of flowers in colors that coordinate with my table coverings and chair cushions and it brings a smile to my face every night when I get home.
I have collected my girls letters, drawings, school papers from their early years in school. 30 years later, I used an old dresser and pasted my memories to the sides and top. I put a piece of glass on the top. Now my Grandchildren enjoy reading, and looking at their Mom’s papers I could not through away!
We did our kitchen on a tight budget and it came out great. My husband took the white cabinet doors off, added trim and painted a buttery yellow. We found tile on sale and he did the countertops. Finding the right paint color was a challenge. We bought 8 quarts of different colors before we realized how much we had spent, then decided to mix them together and ended up with a medium beige color with a slight green tint. It looks great but we still need to replace the floors.
One of my favorite things in my house is a rooster pot rack I found at an antique store. I hung it over out center island, I had pots on it, but they where cutting off our view when holding a conversation. So I had a basket collection that I put up there along with dried flowers from my garden. It looks so nice and has such a great country look.
I count cross-stitched a large brown bear walking from north to south in chest deep snow for my husband one year for his birthday. He knew I was making it for him but I wouldn’t let him see it until it was completely finished. He loved it so much that he proudly displays it in our livingroom and often uses it as a conversation piece.
The thing I am most proud of is my craziest project yet. The lights at the end of my drive kept getting broken by drive-by vandals so I replaced them with bowling balls cemented into the brick columns and spray painted with stone-look paint.
I am most proud of my little guest bathroom. I have a fabulous mirror, love the paint color and my fixtures are perfect!
My favorite room is the remodeled master bath…we did it ourselves for half the cost that a professional firm wanted. It is very roman spa like with a beautiful new window.
I am most proud of our downstairs bathroom, it has been 2 years in the making. It is almost finished, my husband and I have worked hand in hand to create/build a very calming room of natural materials (cedar ceiling, stone tile floor and yes even a rock wall into the shower area).
i am so proud of a quilt my grandmother made
she was in her late 80,s when she passed.
but left us with so many good things to rember.her name by the way was QUEEN EASTER
The build in shelves I added to my daughters room. I even trimmed them out so they look like they have always been there.
My family and I moved into our new home almost four years ago. Little by little we all pitched in and decorated every room of the house, including the back porch to our absolute satisfaction. This is why I can’t choose only one room. To me, all our rooms are favorites because we converted a new house into a beloved home.
I’m proud of the way I was able to transform my fiance’s plain, unadorned log home into something that everyone, upon entering, says, “What a beautiful home!”
I am most proud of the Christmas Cactus I got when my great aunt passed away in the mid 80′s. It is at least 30 – 40 years old and blooms at least twice a year! Absolutely beautiful!
