What appeared at first to be fields of junk quickly turned into a field of dreams as I headed out on what I considered my first “business trip”. I was excited to join three HGTV.com staff members to the “World’s Longest Yard Sale” last month. I had no idea what to expect.
<pThe days of miserably scouring yard sales with my mom quickly flashed back, and I wasn’t exactly sure what I had gotten myself into (as usual). The heat, hunger pains and dusty roads paled in comparison to the true gem that is the Highway 127 Corridor Sale. Innovators, collectors and bargain hunters alike scoured the sale’s 600+ miles for a chance to find “it,” whatever “it” is. I was on a mission to unearth something unique for my first college apartment.
Living on my own for the first time can be a challenge to say the least. I was on the hunt for affordable décor that’s unique, stylish, and matches my hand-me-down couch. Aside from the great people, delicious unexpected eateries, adorable wildlife, and out of this world homes (literally), I came across vintage bottles that could be used as cute vases, cool photos that could easily be placed on the wall as a quick trendy headboard, and hundreds of other items at great prices that would compliment any home regardless of budget and $5 Ray-Ban sunglasses!
<p I left with money to burn and look forward to attending next year with my mom, grandmother and a pick-up truck in tow. What advice do you guys have for yard sale scavengers hunting for chic décor?
