Thanks Billee, I grab hoops up whenever I see them at yard sales and thrift stores. I wish I did something more crafty with them but mostly I just love their decorative form!

I used porch paint directly on the plywood subfloor. I probably should have put a coat of polyurethane on it when I was done, but for the most part the porch paint has held up pretty well. The design is free hand, but if I were to do it again I would probably use a stencil so it would take less time!

sorry i am not logged in but to billee i have a suggestion. if you have any old cabinets that you mabey tore down during renevation and are maybe not your style get them. one idea is to paint them and make them your own uniqui style. or you can buy some chalk paint. then you can have cabinets that you can change 24-7. add some holders and you will be able to draw and erase on cabinets

The craft room door is a great idea! I have tons of hoops in a box. I'm working (slowly) on my room and this will be an addition. Thank you. Happy Zombies getaway would be like taking a vacation for me. We are trying to figure out the shelving, and I want a lot, and your design would be perfect. Probably over budget for me, because cabinets are so expensive. But maybe someday. I got something from each of them. Hopefully , when I am done it will be good enough to post too. Thanks for the great ideas.

I think dedicating a space to your craft and creativity is so empowering! I have thought so many times that the folk arts I create are valuable, but sometimes, people who don't know what is involved make the craft process seem silly to me. Dedicating space is like voting "YES!" — this creative acitivity is important!

And I love the idea of community creative space! It could be like home economics for an entire neighborhood!
