Freebie Fridays: Dream Home Edition
This week we have a very special item to give away, straight from HGTV’s Dream Home. When the Dream Home special first aired in January, the folks over on the Dream Home blog went nuts for the wrap that host Monica Pedersen wore. Our HGTV Super Fan, Gail, called Monica to let her know how much everyone loved her wrap and Monica offered to give it away to one lucky blog reader.

What would we wear if we won the HGTV Dream Home 2010??? We would donate all of our winter gear – (we live in Littleton NH), and wear some shorts, t-shirts and sandals. We only get to pull out our summer clothes for about 2 months up here in the North Country. Being somewhere warm all year – we wouldn't even know where to begin, the kids can finally get some color
Don't be too quick to throw your winter wardrobe away. That area gets very cold at night and during the winter.
I, too would be happy to donate all my winter gear and Dress for warmer weather. My husband and I are ready to retire farther south! For this time of year I would probably be in Jeans & T-shirt with a jean jacket!
Hi laurelek, it gets cold in Sandia as well, so hold on to those winter clothing.
I think you better keep you winter clothes and do some checking about the area where this home is…. it is NOT warm all year, in fact when I was there in Jan. it was almost a white out up in the subdivision where the Dream Home is located… the Sandia Mountain range gets plenty of snow and they have a winter… this is not Phoenix…

Hi Christy! I know what you mean about the North Country! I am in Idaho and we get lots of snow and cold weather! I would wear Monica's wrap if I won the HGTV Dream Home. I want to win the wrap as well as the grand prize! LOL
What would I wear If I won the HGTV Dream Home 2010? When I win the HGTV Dream Home 2010 in New Mexico I'm going to stay with the southwest style and I'll wear my favorite black jeans, black blouse, black "cowboy" boots and the wonderful wrap that Monica wore.
New Mexico is NOT warm all year…i was there not too long ago….IT was Freezing!!! Keep the warm clothes….although I guess u can donate it and buy more clothes, I mean w/ the $500k buy a Whole New Wardrobe!!!
Good thing none of you have to worry about what to wear since I am going to win the 2010 Dream Home. I will be stunning in my authentic Sante Fe garb and will blend with my peeps in New Mexico! Can't wait!!
I would rethink that if I were you. Have you studied the climate at all! If you want to live here you should check it out. This time of year is cold! Keep your winter gear girlie!
Sorry Christy, it's been snowing here weekly since the end of October. Still in the 40s. Dress warm. Sometimes we even get snow here in NM till May.
Well Christy I am right there with you, I live in Central Oregon, the weather here is quite cold as well. However we do have some pretty good summer days when summer does come around. Lately has been nothing but cold and wet. I would really enjoy wearing that wrap that Monica wore during the HGTV dreamhome special viewing. All I have done ever since I saw that programing has been to dream of the home and all of the good things that come with it. My family really does enjoy dreaming along with me, specially my little guy, he dreams of the disney's buzz lightyear, and woody room. He loves to play with a horse suit he has and can only dream of his new room and home! I do the same, that would be lovely. I have this worderful dress that would most definately be a wonderful piece to wear for my new home grand entry! It is cheerful and bright with colors that go well with the southern look of the home and location, I can't wait for that grand day! I wish you and all the best of luck.
I understand where you're coming from; but, New Mexico does get cold. Your teeth could chatter if you're wearing shorts in March in Sandia. If I were fortunate enough to win the Dream Home I would wear all black: from black boots, to black jeans, to a black turtleneck. To finish the look, I would wear a long black and white vest to show off the silver based turquoise jewelry that I would wear. Unless I am lucky enough to win the wrap. Then of course I would wear the wrap instead of the vest.
I don't think I want to change myself if I win.
I'll just wear what I usually wear. Jeans and a nice top, (and that wrap, too, once I get my hands on it !) I would love to add that wrap though, while I lounge outside in front of the fire on the lovely couches, sipping some wine that's been perfectly cooled in my new wine cooler… That wrap would make things just about as perfect as can be.
I would wear my favorite jeans, black shirt, turquoise necklace that my husband bought me when he went to a meeting in Phoenix, and black sandals.
I would throw out all my black clothes and start to wear colors! Since this winter has been long and snowy for the DC metropolitan are I have only been wearing jackets galore! Shorts, flowy tops and dresses would be the ONLY pieces in my wardrobe. I love that wrap so I would add it to my wardrobe easily, and blue would definitely be my color for a while
I would wear a brown pant & top set and would love to wear the same wrap that Monica is wearing
when I win the HGTV Dream Home. Oh, I can't wait for them to surprise me with the announcement.
As you can see I am thinking positively. I'll be dreaming about it again tonight.

Well, the most important thing that I would have to wear…apart from something pretty and easy on the eye, would HAVE to be WATERPROOF MASCARA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O)
I don't know exactly what I would be wearing but I know it isn't in my closet. I would be wearing a beautiful new outfit that I had never worn before.
I would wear my turquoise bolo. And I think I would buy a Western style suit like the one I wore umpteen years ago when I played banjo in a Bluegrass band as a teenager. My wife would be very happy to make a special shopping trip for her outfit. Perhaps something in turquoise…
I would probably wear my most comfortable clothes!! My jeans and Tshirt!! I would not change myself but would be nervous about the thought of moving west. I like the area I am in now!! However, the outside looks SO beautiful there.
What would I wear if I won the dream home? Wow I haven't even thought about what to wear. I have only visioned me opening my door t HGTV host telling me I have won. So I guess I better find something to wear!
Same here, I had not even given it much thought about what to wear. I have visioned the thought of the HGTV host coming up in our yard, being greeted by our big lab, and making their way into our humble home in Holly Pond, Alabama. Now that I have been asked that question, I would wear dress slacks and a comfortable pull over shirt, probably Kakhi pants, white shirt. The shaw would look great draping over my shoulders. As I watched the previous winners stroll down the sidewalk up to the door of the past HGTV Home give aways, I did consider at that time, how to dress. Now, I am giving it more thought, what a feeling to be the winner of this home, and preparing for the press conference and preparing to walk down that beautiful winding walk way up to the front entrance to the home where I feel like I can touch the sky.
If I won the HGTV Dream Home I would embrace not only the home, but the Southwest with a pair of jeans, a great pair of boots, and a simple top in order to show off the gorgeous turquoise wrap!! To top it all off I would also need a Concha belt and a Squash blossom necklace to complete the look, all acquired from the talented Native Americans in the area who so know how to live the life!!!
I would probably have on jeans and a t shirt and would change later into a sundress that matched the wrap for a party with my entire family that I have invited to come with us.
I'd put on all the turquoise jewelry I've purchased in Santa Fe over the years, pull on a comfortable pair of blue jeans, a denim jacket, some warm-looking huaraches sandals and a hot pink t-shirt and settle in.
If I won this year's HGTV Dream Home what would I wear? It would depend on the time of year. Winter, I would wear turquoise ski pants so I would be ready to go down the nearby slopes. Spring, I would wear my turquoise cowboy hat to keep the bright spring sun out of my eyes. Summer, I would wear turquoise sunglasses and suntan lotion, they are a must for the hot summer days. Fall, I would wear my turquoise cowboy boots because lets face it girls, its a great fasion statement. If I had Monica's beautiful turquoise wrap I would wear it year around!!!!!!
If I won the HGTV Dream home, I would definately wear something bright and cheerful!! White Capris with a happy print blouse. I would also wear some jewels.

When I walk into my new house I will probably be wearing my blue jeans and boots, my black top with my denim and black jacket. I want to be as comfortable as I can when I enter my new house for the first time.
I love sport the turquoise wrap during a relaxing weekend with my family.

I would wear my jean capris, a white shirt and that nice little tourquoise wrap that Monica wore. Of course on me it would like like a dress or I would have to stand on a box so it wouldn't drag on the ground. All of my sweaters, winter coats and all other winter stuff would go the homeless shelter where they would have use for it.
That would be a mistake. While warm, it still snows there, although the snow melts quickly and there is lots of sunshine.
We've been buried under 50 inches of snow. The kids have had 12 snow days and numerous half days because of the weather. We have serious cabin fever. If we won the dream home we would surely celebrate by wearing our most favorite summer clothes. Shorts, tank tops, flip-flops…I can just feel the warmth of the sun!

I think there is going to be an influx of folks ready to move out west, who are experienced the first in history amount of snow, maybe the snow gods did this so you could move to NM.
I'd wear some cute nail polish and a smile! … After all the cameras were gone!
I would wear a cute pair of leggings, stylish boyfriend shirt, and a pair of flats. I love that wrap!
I would be so excited I would propably need help getting dressed for the event. I think a long skirt with a southwest flair to it, boots and silver or turqoise jewelery. And the biggest smile the world has ever seen.

I know exactly.. My turqois and green top I bought at Stein Mart!! It's so pretty, I get compliments on it all the time, plus it would match the house. Wow I just sounded like a commercial for Stein Mart. LOL

Definitely some cool cowgirl boots with a short dress, probably black, natural jewelry, the wrap and maybe my favorite cowgirl hat.
If I won the dream house i would give it to my sister who would really appreciate it, as it is warm in new mexico most of the time and she is an rn no problem finding a job

Are you confusing New Mexico with Old Mexico? It is cold in the evenings and mornings – even in summer! And of course, winter is cold there. A wrap would be needed but how sweet of you to give it to your sister regardless!
I would wear a great Lilly P. dress that has a paisley or flower just the right shade of blue to coordinate with the wrap. Perfect combo!
After winning the Dream Home 2010, I would put on my blue jeans, cowboy boots, turquoise necklace, white button down, and a nice belt, just waiting to place Monica's beautiful wrap to top off the look!!! Love life by living green and having a dream!!!
What would I wear?????????? That's easy….. If I could get the wrap in time, I would wear the exact same outfit that Monica wore……..Turquoise wrap, turtleneck, and jeans. Monica looked just like the house, just liked she belonged and that's how I would want to look to celebrate. You have to be comfortable when you're living the dream. Besides, I would be smiling so much no one would even notice what I was wearing!
I'd pair the wrap with my lucky, vintage, turquoise drop earrings. My husband bought them as an anniversary present for me while we were at Santa Fe's Indian Market. If you've never been, the spirit and talent that surround you are just amazing!
I'd wear a cute, summery dress and some sunglasses. It's been a long, cold winter in MN and I could use some desert sun.
I would donate all this Wisconsin COLD weather clothing first of all. Then, I would don myself and my honey in turquoise,, a light, airy, breezy sundress and some snappy sandals! Bring on the sun! Then for the cooler nights, I would wear the wrap that Monica is giving away- and wrap myself up in some HGTV love!

What would I wear ? Hmmm….Let's see, since I won't be excepting to win the beautiful HGTV Dream Home 2010, I would probably be in a comfortable pair of pants like sweats and an equally comfortable t-shirt. I would also be wearing the biggest smile you ever would see.
i would probably dress the same as i usually do, jeans and sweater or sweatshirt in fall and winter and jeans/shorts and tee shirt in spring and summer. why change what's comfy? taf1955@aol.com

What a great opportunity — I love the color of this wrap! It reminds me so much of everything about the Dream Home — the beautiful entry fireplace, the gorgeous hand-blown margarita glasses, and even the address of 117 Turquoise Drive! If I won, I'd definitely go shopping for something new — an outfit that truly represents the Southwest and all it offers. It would have to be turquoise, of course, and it would have to include Western boots!

If I won, I would wear the biggest smile ever! For clothing; Monicas sumptuous turquoise wrap, my favorite jeans and shirt, and nothing on my feet! When I went outside to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine, I'd wear my sunglasses; smiling the entire time!

What a perfect color for those beautiful New Mexico skies. My mother's favorite color too. In fact, back in the 50's she decorated heavily in this color. It is a comfort color for me.
I would wear something loose! There's gonna be a lot of jumping up and down going on if I win!
If I won this year's dream home, I wear Texas casual in Arizona. I'd wrap myself in comfy jeans and hoodies for our faux-winter. That gorgeous wrap would go from day to night by slipping into skinny black jeans, a wildy colorful tank, and jewelry to set off the wrap. Summer, well we Texans know about heat — shorts, t-shirts, slides, cool drinks. At night, snuggle in the wrap, sit outside, and enjoy the view. We don't have those cool desert nights on the Gulf coast. Hmmm, don't think I'd miss the humidity at all!
I would wear maxi dresses 24-7. I love them and they are so comfy~! I would love to live somewhere warm, and with my husbands job we could move anywhere we wanted, but have never had a real reason to leave Indiana despite the freezing winters.

If I won, I would definately wear a cofy wrap like Monicas and some terrific turquoise jewelry to match not only the home but the twilight skies!
I would wear my good jeans, a bright 3/4 length t-shirt and one of my new 'blues' jackets that my mom just gave me – they have a variety of different blue shades in a gorgeous pattern. Maybe I would even get a chance to wear my turquoise jewelry that I got in Santa Fe years ago!!
I don't know exactly what it would be, but it would be something new for sure. Also I would wear some of my late mother's jewelry, she loved the southwest and I have a lot of her turquoise jewelry that would suit the occasion perfectly.
We would relax and enjoy that beautiful scenery outside while having an awsome bbq cookout in our Shorts, Tanks & Tennies. Then as the sun goes down, I would put on my beautiful turquoise wrap and watch the sunset with my husband and son and feel truly blessed by all the splendor we were so lucky to win!

So, when you show up at my door to tell me that I've won, I'll probably have on some leggings and a tee shirt. Now, if I know ahead of time, I'll have on my black traveling knit outfit with colorful accessories. Either way, I can't wait to see ya!!
