CakeVintageIt’s the last Friday of the month – time for another Freebie! Post a comment with a valid email address before 12/11c, Monday, March 1 (Can you believe it’s March already?) to be entered for a chance to win.

This week’s Freebie comes from friends right down the road in Nashville, TN.  After running the online boutique, Knobstoppers, for a few years, Robbie and Angie decided they need to expand beyond vintage bottle-stoppers and include a wider range of items – enter Cake Vintage. They’ve taken the retro style of Knobstoppers and applied it to the whole house, with charming place mats, an eclectic silverware collection and custom lighting fixtures made from salvaged silverware and door plates.

Up this week is a pack of items from their Kitchen & Home collection: two notepad sets (their Cake set, which includes a vintage butter knife, and their Kitchen Notes with a vintage spoon). On top of that, you’ll get both of their paper place mat pads, perfect for spring teas or casual suppers.

CakeVintagePlacemats

This week we want to know: Where do you typically eat dinner? Not those more formal nights when you have friends over and break out the good china, but your average Tuesday night. Does your family sit down at the table and eat together, or are you on the couch in front of the TV?  You have until 12/11c on Monday to answer.  Click here for the official rules.

We usually eat at the breakfast table or on the couch…with the kids running crazy!

  2. Amy says:

I have 3 VERY BUSY boys (4 if you count my hubby). We try to all have dinner together, but sometimes it does not work out.

  3. Elizabeth says:

We are 50% ers….1/2 the time we are the dining room table and 1/2 time we are at the couch eating around our coffee table…..but we always eat together unless the husband is working late- then I feed the kiddos and wait for him so we can eat together. We don't always watch TV when we eat around the coffee table, it's just a great place to gather and eat a few time a week, but sometimes we do have the boob-tube on for entertainment!

  4. Cindy says:

No eating in front of the TV permitted in our house. Gives us an excuse to get our three boys together without screens, things hanging out of their ears and talk about the day. My best memories growing up are from around the table and i hope they can say the same one day!

  5. Pam Stumpe says:

We usually eat at the bar, I think a dining room and table are a waste of space if you never have dinner parties and such. But we always eat together and say grace. That's about the only time we see each other.

  6. Jolaine says:

Our family sits at the kitchen table and eat, laugh, cry and general share our days' story – together!

  7. debbie says:

We usually eat at the table in the kitchen but since the olympics are on , we are eating in the living room . We love the winter sports and don't want to miss the action.

  8. hetty says:

At the kitchen counter because it's easy for set up and clean up.

  9. Nancy says:

My husband and I are in the middle of doing some renovations, so there is no place to eat, except on the couch watching HGTV.

  10. If i do have supper (dinner) its watching TV with my Laptop in front of me and holding my plate. Yhen i get up to feed my Service Dog.

  11. Mary says:

I usually eat at the table, my husband eats in livingroom watching TV

  12. Anisa says:

Me and my husband are newly weds, so we don't have all the furniture we need just yet. That's why we sit infront of the TV and eat on the small table in the living room. It ain't much, but we enjoy every moment of it. Being together is what matters.

  13. Patty Reeves says:

Cool. I usually eat a quick meal standing in the kitchen or in the living room on a folding table. I like to have nice family dinners at 6:30 every day. That would be so nice.

  14. We eat in the kitchen or in front of the TV or computer. We do try to eat at the table when we are all here or there has been a lot of preparation.

  15. Jessi G says:

A family that eats together, stays together. We always eat together at the dining room table. It is the one time of day when we can all relax and enjoy each others company. My husband and I are also foster parents as well as having an 11 year old daughter. Currently we have a 4 month old baby that we are fostering, so she sits ON the table in a bouncy chair while we eat. We are all equals at the table and each of us have our moment to talk and share.

  16. Marcy Apple says:

I prefer eating at the dining room table. But lately our table has been filled with the paper work for the new house we are building so these days it is in front of the TV watching American Idol. If there is nothing on TV then I will clear the table of all the paperwork so we can enjoy a relaxing dinner at the table.

  17. SnowChic says:

Tueday evening is our Pizza Night. We order Pepperoni and The Works. Our family sits around our vintage round oak table and chows down our favorite pizza with Italian tossed salad. This is our favorite time together as a family sitting every evening at the old oak table.

  18. angie says:

Tuesday-not a eventful day in my social schedule. Like the other days in the week. If I'm running late in my car, if I'm early on my chair in the living room. but I do break out the real plates and silverware…no paper or plastic for me. The Cake items are really cute too!

  19. Rhonda Willis says:

We eat our dinner In front of the television in bed with two food trays.

  20. I eat at the table with my two children (both under two!) so its always a fun experience just trying to feed them and shovel a few bites of whatever is fast and easy to eat into my mouth!

  21. Joann says:

Dining room table which is in the one main room of the house. If my other half is gone it's on the couch with the dog waiting for oops!

  22. Cathy Holder says:

We have an open kitchen/dining/living room area and always eat at the dining table. No matter where we have lived, how the home was laid out, or the ages of our children, we have always enjoyed gathering around the table!

  23. shell says:

My family tends to eat dinner together, ranging anyway from 3-9 pm

  24. Cheryl Martin says:

    Love, love, love HGTV!

  25. Anne Jones says:

We eat at the kitchen table on a typical school night- sometimes all 5 of us together- but our little guy maybe at a playdate, our teen might be napping after school- or sometimes hubby and kids have eaten when I get home from work- it just depends. We always eat at the table- never on our laps or in front of the TV- but hardly ever at the dining room table- which we use when having Sunday roast or entertaining.

  26. butkus says:

We always eat in the kitchen at our table. It was always important to me to eat as a family. My sons have moved out on their own now, but they know where to find us at dinner time : )

  27. Carolyn says:

My fiance & I eat at the dining room table while our carnivorous cat circles us like a shark. Mostly we just see the tip of her tail, like some ominous dorsal fin from the sea. We don't even (barely) feed her from the table, she just has a very strong hunting instinct.

  28. Marita Shaffer says:

Even though there are only the 2 of us now, we always sit at the kitchen table. But it is much more fun when the kids and grandkids are there making memories and talking about memories of dining there in the past!

  29. Carol Cole says:

My family consists of my 15 year old son, my husband and myself. Typically we have everyday dinners in our kitchen/ dining room combo. We try to keep my family from eating in front of the TV as much as possible so that we can have some 'real' conversations. We do pretty well.

  30. Harley962 says:

On Tuesdays we eat 'catch-as-catch-can'. It is Scout night and we are usually in a hurry to eat and run!

  31. Mandiy Fontana says:

I am currently living with my parents in my childhood home along with four other women ages 20 to 40+ whom rent rooms in our home. Regardless of if we are all eating different meals or not, my mother, one or all four renters and myself can be found chatting, laughing and watching some television in our living room. We may not share a table, be eating the same home cooked meal or be related but somehow we become a family sharing a nice meal together. It is our own versio of sitting down for a family meal.

  32. Laura Jane thompson says:

My husband and I eat as soon as he gets home from work. We park ourselves in front of the television and eat on TV trays for the most part, and we're usually watching reruns of "Two and a Half Men" that we record on the DVR. On Fridays during the season, we watch Thursday's episode of "Burn Notice" instead. We're terribly predictable.

  33. herbie1975 says:

We usually eat at a small table off of our kitchen. It is really convenient-has a backyard view and we can see the TV from our family room, fireplace off to the side

  34. jmick7493 says:

Our family of 5 always eats at the kitchen table…even if we are having a quick dinner because we are running off to softball, gymnastics, or basketball. We do not have a tv in the kitchen so dinner time is our time to talk about our day at work and school. Our 7 month year old sits in his highchair at the head of the table near me and my husband so that he gets fed his fruit or vegetables and always is the laugh maker.

  35. KelseyLindon says:

The unfortunate thing about a studio is the dining room is the living room. So I either turn on an episode of some silly tv show or play some music.

  36. LynnCoggin says:

Average Tuesday night, we are in the kitchen at the table. We are taking turns going around the table answering this question…"What was your favorite part of the day?"

Our kids tease me because my answer is the same every night…"Right now."
    ;)

    Living the Dream!

  37. Ada says:

We have no set rule, being retired and both (60's) The dining room table is never used. There's the kitchen
bar or TV tray's watching HGTV.

  38. Terry says:

My Family usually has dinner every night in our dining room. The week is hectic and it is good to just
sit down and have a conversation to catch up on what's going on with everyone. It is also just good to have a casual home cooked dinner every night to settle us all down. NO FAST FOOD FOR OUR FAMILY! I am so lucky to be able to be a stay at home mom to make this possible for everyone.

  39. Jenn says:

    Cake!!!

  40. sherrylawson says:

My husband and I either eat at the bar in the kitchen or in front of the TV watching HGTV, usually a real estate show, House Hunters or something like that.

  41. ChadP.. we always sit at the table because of the views and this is our time to catch up on the day!! We love to hear about each others day and if someone is having a bad day, we will cheer them up with a fun game afterwards…. If it is our son's choice it will be on the Wii, my Husband it will be Star Wars Monopoly and for me it will be Cranium. If all is well, we will watch a movie together and then read a book with our son!! Love the creativity from Robbie and Angie @Knobstoppers!!! Thanks for sharing CHAD!! Love life by living green and having a dream!!

  42. wendy says:

We eat together several times per week. I love the paper placemats, beatiful and easy. So different….loves it!

  43. Linda Woody says:

Since it's just me and my husband, (in our early 50's) we eat in the living room with our lap trays and watch some TV. If my husband's not eating with me I always have on HGTV…

  44. Yury says:

I eat dinner at the coffee table. Boo. But I do use placemats!

  45. bmw7 says:

LOVE EATING, WHILE IN BED. QUIET WITH THE TELLI ON LOW. USUALLY WATCHING HGTV. IT'S PEACEFUL.

  46. Lauren Gardiner says:

With the help of Lowes and Home Depots kitchen design software (very cool), I brought my sketch of our new dream kitchen to life. Well, our new kitchen is all done now and I have made a serious mistake in design….
I created a granite bar that overlooks the cooktop/island. NOW, my husband sits on the stool while I cook every night and says, "ARE YOU GOING TO PUT THAT IN? WELL, I WONT EAT IT!"
For 25 years, I have been cooking for him and NOW he questions my ingredients!!!! HELP!

  47. Lauren Gardiner says:

We eat at this island as well….

  48. s_g says:

At the counter with my partner, fending off the cats and dog somewhat unsuccessfully…

  49. Kate says:

My finace and I eat on the couch, typically.
