It’s the first Friday of spring! I’ve been inspired by the daffodils peeking up through the cold ground and want to bring you some inspiration, too — literally. This week we’re giving you the chance to win a set of alphabet photography blocks from Everyday Art, which spell out “inspire.”

Each photo letter is available in both color and black and white, and there are four different photos for each letter. Check out a couple of options for A:
These 1/2″ blocks are made from composite material and are scratch resistant, moisture resistant and will not fade over time. What I love most about themĀ is that the photo blocks come ready-to-mount and you can spell out anything you want, from your name to a favorite saying.
All you have to do to win is answer this week’s question before 12/11c, Monday, March 29. Be sure to provide a valid email address so we can contact you if you win.
This week we want to know: What item in your home truly inspires you? Is it a photo of a beloved family member? A statue of a religious icon? Maybe it’s a project you completed on your own that made you feel like a champion? You have until 12/11c on Monday to answer. Click here for the official rules.

what inspires me? my boyfriend inspires me. he inspires me to be independent and be a good person. i am currently moving out from my parent's house and thing that inspires me most is myself because i want to be on my own, i want to be independent and learn to take care of people that i care about. having my own place is my dream and i'm happy that it can finally happen.
My plants. Living things! I am an earth person, truly. I garden indoors alomost as much as my outdoor gardens. Right now I have many seedlings growing, waiting for May planging outdoors. I am truly inspired by the world outside that I attempt to bring indoors.

My room's decor isn't finalized without one of my green “roomies”. (sorry, the previous submission was not finished and by mistake it published!)
My inspiration………the whole reason i wake up through out the week is……..my children, seeing them sleeping or eating or whatever……i know that i have to work hard everyday to be able to give them the things that i want them to have……….and that doesn't just go for materialistic things….

I am inspired by our updated kitchen. Going from the 1950's to the 21st Century. Thank you HGTV for all of your ideas.
I am inspired by several prints I have from St. Kitts, painted by a friend. They transport me back to the Caribbean in an instant.
I made an old trunk into an end table and used gallon jars for the legs & filled the jars-legs with treasures. LOVE it !!!
I'm inspired by my baby. He is just so full of life and goodness. It's a reminder that life isn't so complex and to just enjoy all the goodness around.
What item in my home truly inspires me….I have a wood sign in our bedroom that says "and they lived happily ever after". I aspire toward that goal daily in my family life…keeps it all in focus with the right priority, my family.
I am inspired when I look at the display we have of the wooden staffs that my husband has carved to use as walking sticks. About two years ago he underwent emergency surgery for an infection in his spine, which was determined at that time that it would leave him permenantly, partially paralyzed. He was in the hospital for a month and a half. I was quite scared! He went through a lot of phyiscal therapy. He started by pulling himself along in a wheechair. Eventually he was able to use a walker, then a cane, and finally he could walk alone without support! He uses his staffs now to walk and hike when we go geocaching, which is kind of like going on an electronic scavenger hunt. I always knew that he was strong! He is the bravest person I know. The reason that I feel really inspired every time I look at the walking staffs that he carved, is that everyday I am so grateful and blessed to be with my wonderful husband!
I have a photo of my dad that I took on our trip to Vietnam a couple of yrs ago. We were visiting my grandparents' graves & it was an intensely emotional moment. For him and for us kids, as our first time being there & witnessing our parents' return to their, our, home. I wanted to frame it immediately & it sits on a side table. I have boxes & files of downloads of photos just sitting around. This photo inspires me to surround myself with the things I love, that mean something to me/us and spend less time worrying about the perfect frame or the best fabric to cover our bed.
I am inspired by remembering what our house used to look like 4yrs ago when we bought it, and the way it looks now. We have gotten quite a few projects done over the past few yrs. We completely remodeled the bathroom last year and the kitchen this year; took everything completely out of both and replaced it all with new. The only thing we couldn't accomplish was making them bigger. And all of the many other "improvements projects" we have done as well, molding, baseboards, painting, changing fixtures, changing all the outlets and outlet covers, designing all of the rooms (2 kid's rooms, master bedroom, living room/dining room, kitchen, bathroom, & home office area) all on our own and doing all the work ourselves. All while being on a budget as we have 2 little ones, and I only work part time and attend school. But I am also inspired by the many other projects inside and outside that I would like to eventually accomplish over the next 4 or more years.
Here in southern California it actually is Springtime. I laughed because along one side of my house I have planted daffodiles. They are mostly up because last week was very warm. The stems are a striking green with with opened and closted petals looking up for the sun.. They are in straight rows reaching as high as they can almost struggling to see who can be the tallest. In the next area there are daylilies not quite as high but racing just as hard. The passion I feel in seeing them once again return to the spots that I chose to put them in is exilerating. They give me inspiration to find another plant to put in the ground and make more evolution happen because of something I did. It is powerful to make beauty happen and I have done it once again. I am inspired when I walk into my studio. I used to call it a craft room, but I figure it makes a much better studio than craft room. Just saying the word inspires me.
A Newsweek article and photo of my grandfather that I framed.
my inspiration or plural are the french doors. my apt was built in the twenties and has the art eco vibe that i love. most of my design style is geared to match them. they have incredible arches on top and the window panes follow the arches.
My dining room. My house is 100 years old and has lathe and plaster walls. I spent a whole year stripping the five layers of wallpaper and then my Dad and I fixed the plaster. We added a chair rail and painted the upper half of the room the most incredible deep blue. I love it and can't wait to get started on the next room.
My bedroom is right off of our dining room. Our dining room is painted a very pretty orange, and when I wake up in the morning, it almost glows-even if it's cloudy outside. I feel it's a "happy" home with colors that inspire that.
I wake up to my inspiration every day. It's a huge sun with a smiling face on it. Since I'm sun deprived in my neck of the woods, it's a nice way for me to remember the sun will eventually come out! ;~)
My fireplace and mantle. My husband and I bought our very first home in January. Each morning I sit in my living room, sip my coffee and reflect on the photos and growing collection of decor arranged on our mantle and throughout the living room. It gives me such a feeling of confidence, pride and happiness to reflect on what we've done, and gives me to motivation and inspiration to continue to move forward and strive to reach each and every one of our goals
What inspires me is a window that looks out to my private little forest. I can sit for hours watching the scenery change. It has inspired me to bring the outdoors in. My color palet and furnishings reflect the outdoors.
a small kind of 3d pic that has a hot air balloon and open sky that says "there is no time in life for launching a new dream, the perfect time to begin is always today" it's something I look at everyday, and it inspires me to be my best.
What item in your home truly inspires you?
Great question and I love the alphabet blocks! After more than 25 years in this house I built, it remains the unique floor plan of the house that inspires me. There's nothing "usual" about the house or decor, truly a gift of and for ones imagination.
An original sketch by Guayasamin (a famous Ecuadorian painter). I bought it at his museum in Quito and every time I look at it it reminds me of my time in Ecuador.
My dining room table inspires me. I like the sleek lines and the style of the table. I always think of the kitchen table when I think of design.

As I go from room to room in our home, I am surrounded by the memories of trips my husband and I have taken over the last 52 years. There are the Gaudi prints from Barcelona, the Spanish tiles from Mijas-Spain, the colorful carpet from Morocco, which by the way I brought home in my suitcase. There is the quilt made to my specifications, just for me, in Wales, the little fancy vase from Gibraltar, blown for me with my favorite colors. The Welsh tartans which represent my heritage, the German family crests, which represent my husbands heritage. Each object brings back such sweet memories that will last while I live, and beyond, in the lives of our children. There are the sweet things given to me by my mother and my husband's mother to care for an be handed down to our children. It doesn't get any better than this.
children.
The first piece of art I ever bought inspires me. It's not a lot: a black photo of a flower printed on a canvas painted bright orange. It was the first time I've ever tried to make things in a string of rentals more homey and its brightened up those drab white rental walls ever since.
I have a beautiful gold and black jester lamp with a huge gold lampshade that came from my grandmothef's living room. My husband calls it our leg lamp, but only because he doesn't understand high style.
I am constantly inspired by my landscaping. Every spring I see things return from the dead of Winter and I am inspired to create anew and to forge forward with my life. I've chosen a lot of perennial lillies for color around my house and I love getting into the soil and dividing them and placing them in new areas. Create and Re-create. To "die" and come to life again. It keeps reminding me of the renewal of life.
