I did use my china and thought I was really hot stuff. Thing is now that I look back at the set, I'm embarassed. Did I really pick that out? UGH. My grandmother didn't have desert rose, she had the apple pattern that my mother has distributed between me and my brother and herself. I think the stuff must be sacred though because she would nearly kill if we used, broke or "heavens forbid" sell the set.

Hi, sorry to say I never purchased any china, have seen really nice sets. If I win I couldnt ask for a better collection to start with. Also if I had my grandmothers set (which I dont), i could never replace it. Thanks and good luck, jennieo23@yahoo.com

I've never had china, but I hope I get some from my wedding registry! And I'd love to get these!!

  4. kwallca says:

We only use our china on holidays. We actually only have seven full place settings, and now it's discontinued, so I guess we're out of luck. I've already told my mom I would like to have her china and silver someday.

  5. beyond says:

didn't register for anything when i got married, so no china here. this set is lovely.

  6. Bri says:

I've never had china. Well, I've never been married either, but I don't have a pattern picked out just in case, either. I have a set that my mom bought me for my first apartment that I've added to with odds and ends. Now that the boyfriend and I have moved in together, I have been contemplating a full set that matches, but I haven't made a decision yet.

  7. I have used my china just a handful of times. I always intend to use it but don't usually think about it when setting the table. This has inspired me to use it more often. Who is more important than my family to save the good china? no one.

  8. Leah says:

Never had a set of China. When the kids were younger we used paper plates! I have always had mix and match sets found at Garage Sales! Nearing my 60th Birthday soon I guess it would be nice to pass down to my grandkids.

  9. Grace says:

No China and not yet married, but would really love to win this cute set!

  10. it's been ten years since my husband & i got married, i can't honestly remember if we registered for any 'china'. most of our friends & family don't have sets of their own, it didn't feel right asking for something that all our loved ones saw as extraneous items. some friends of the family did however find a lovely set of mikasa at the outlet store, that was being discontinued & gave it to us. for the longest we hadn't even taken them out of the box, at least they're on display now. i would like to use them at some point, it seems like overkill without a special occasion, but perhaps once the kids are older we'll use them even without a formal reason. ;0D

I didn’t get any china when I got married, and I’ve been through several sets of dishes since then. My favorite set is a set of inexpensive melmac that was given to me one Mother’s Day by a little child who said “I wanted you to have this because you said you wanted some dishes that matched.” It’s the most beautiful set of plastic plates I’ve ever owned.

  12. jwb says:

I'm one of the many with no wedding china. Although my daughter gave me a set of yellow-striped stoneware I opened shortly after my second marriage. It didn't survive two years (the stoneware).

  13. butkus says:

I do use my china. I got so few pieces, that I can only use it for a romantic dinner for my husband and I.

  14. Jolynn O'malley says:

OMG! I never wanted any china. I'm a very simple person, if it was up to my husband he'd use paper plates. EASY CLEANUP!!!. Most of the time I use my Corelle dishes from Kmart. I do have pfaltzgraff dishes I use sometimes, but it depends if my other ones are clean. I guess if I entertained alot i would get a formal set, but we're pretty laid back so we would probably just use what we have.

  15. karen says:

we inherited my husbands grandmothers china 24 years ago and have only used it maybe 4 times, then 7 years ago inherited my moms china, it is sitting at my dads in a box. we have a mix of many different plates, etc, then my daughter gave me a box of square shaped dishes for christmas a few years ago that are white. i use them daily

  16. diana durham says:

Never had a matched set. And the hand me down individual pieces always stay stored int eh shelf and are forgotten.

  17. I am not married, but I like and quirky pieces, so I doubt I would actually register for formal china. I'd rather use mismatched antiques or something handmade.

  18. Crystal says:

Never got china when i got married, or ever actually. This is cute

  19. Vanessa G. says:

have you actually ever used the china you picked out when you got married? Yes i have used the dishes and still use the dishes i picked out.
Have you replaced your Grandma’s Desert Rose print with the cute dinnerware you scored at Target? I still use the old dishes, because im on a budget.

When we got married,45 years ago,we bought some gorgeous Wedgewood china on our honeymoon, and received the rest of the set in bits and pieces, over the first ten years of our marriage. We have 12 place settings of the most breathtakingly beautiful dinnerware. In the 70's,people entertained much more formally than anyone seems to nowadays, even if we didn't have much else.We set a lovely table, even though we sat on folding chairs. Now I use Fiesta ware for every day,and have lots of fun adding new pieces and colors, and adding to my daughter's set as gifts, occasionally.I love the bright, cheerful, pieces, and use them to decorate,as well.I have a group of different pitchers lined up on the fireplace mantel, and get lots of compliments on them.

  21. Sharon says:

We selected a plain white bone china set for our wedding registry. We use it as everyday plates, and dress it up with fancy table linens when we have guests.

  22. Brenda Austin says:

I have used my Grandmothers china on special occations…It a dresdon rose pattern. I love it and it reminds me of special times I had with my Grandmother.

  23. Wendy Steiner says:

I was married 30 years (and 8 months ago, but who's counting?) and I did register for china. I got 8 place settings or Chelsea Wicker china. My husband and I were stil in college, me finishing my undergrad, and he getting his MBA. I think it was two years after the wedding when we were graduating fro college that we actually took all of the settings out of the boxes and looked at them to see that they have little black flaws in the off white plates. Too late to do anything about it at that point! Dang. This dinnerware is fantastically fun!

  24. Barbara Duffy says:

Had two sets of china…both of my daughters now have a set from me and also more.

  25. Steve says:

Actually yes, we used it once…when we had thanksgiving at our house, and now it's packed up in the garage.

  26. Brenda says:

I have used my china for special occasions. The everyday dishes I picked out I love even more because they are so unique with so many cute side pieces. I have built on them every since i married and now have everything I want; occasionally they still come out with new pieces that I just have to have. The only 'grandma's dishes I have are a very few colored glass and clear glass dishes.

  27. Ty Mims says:

I had three lovely Mikasa breakfast sets and they all were broken..Then for an anniversary my husband surprised me witha great Noritake set with little daisies and a platmium trim.. I still use this set on Thanksgiving and whenever I am having a sit down dinner..I love decorating a beeautiful table and regret that so many feel comfortable with nice paper plates these days!

  28. Colleen says:

We never registered for china because we never thought we would use them. We registered for white Apilco dinner plates from Williams Sonoma and use them everyday.

  29. I have never had china but I love Weatherly by Lenox. The side plates above are cute and I would love to win them! :-)

  30. Debbie says:

china? nope.. corelleware was what we had.. finally getting to the point where china is meaningful everyday.

  31. Toni Campaigne says:

Well, I've never been married….so no gifts there. Never got grandma plates either! I have been eating on hard plastic plates that I bought at target for the last 12 yrs! my daughter was 2 when I bought them and I bought them because I was afraid she would get cut on glass, porcelain or china if they accidentally broke. Yes, we have plastic glasses too:) Actually my daughter and myself as well, would love them:) You really made me realize that it's time for new plates and glasses…hehe!!!

  32. Micayla says:

We didn't get all the pieces we registered for, so we just returned the few pieces we did get, and bought more practical things with the money instead

  33. Laura says:

We didn't register for china. We had a few pieces of Corelle in a pattern we weren't terribly excited about, and we registered for more to extend the set.

  34. Joan says:

I believe we used it once, and that was before we got married. Isn't that bad luck?

  35. Dogronnie says:

I have lots of mish mash for my china. Mostly plates from my Mom when she sends food and I don;t return the dishes. Lots of tupperware too!

  36. Shy Jo says:

Have my Grandmother's "Apple Pattern" Franciscan Ware, which she bought in the 40's or 50's that I use everyday. No others, as we down-sized four years ago. Miss having a variety of choices. These are fun looking.

  37. Deena says:

I didn't have china when I got married and still only have a dessert set that someone's Grandma was selling at a yard sale. We aren't formal people so got stoneware when we got married. That's been long replaced by more stoneware which we never use in favor of our Corelle dishes which are great for everyday use.

  38. Amy says:

None of my own (we're not big entertainers), but I'll probably have my mom's someday.

  39. Roberta says:

I remember one time using our wedding china. Ironically, it was after I was divorced, but I made a special dinner for my young son due to his remarkable report card! My son wasn't so impressed with the china – but loved the special dinner celebrating his achievements! Unfortunately the marriage didn't last – but I still have that china!!

  40. Jenna says:

My mom has a very extensive collection of china and crystal that I will someday get. And since I didn't anticipate using china until I was her age we just registered for really great dishes from France for our every day use. *Only problem with that is that when one chips it's hearbreaking (not to mention expensive to replace).

  41. Angela says:

I only got the creamer and sugar bowl from my china set and have never used them. Someday …

  42. lynsey says:

we use the dishes we registered for at Crate & Barrel all the time. i love them. both my husband and i are fairly practically minded people, so we didn't see the need for china at this point in our lives. we're just starting out and recently graduated from college, so we needed something more functional than pretty. the dishes set we did get goes perfectly with our kitchen color scheme. they're sturdy and beautiful too.

  43. pei-ling says:

My wedding china was a set that my mother-in-law bought for my husband and his first girlfriend (18 years before we got married–he was 19). It's Solitaire by Lenox–nice, but a bit boring for me–I've used them only when she comes over–but just yesterday I thought about putting them on ebay so I can get something cuter that's more my style. They take up way too much space in the cupboards.

  44. Jill says:

We have a set of "china" from Pier One that we mix in with our everyday dinnerware from Target. We are wicked fancy in our house! LOL.

  45. Carole Ann says:

No china here. I never could afford it when I was married and didn't formally entertain very much. I just love these very whimsical dishes and would be pleased as punch to just win something.

  46. Mim says:

We did not pick out wedding china. We picked out wedding daily wear in the form of hardy Pfaltzgraff. We used it for a good ten years before we had to buy a new set of dishes. Now I do have "fancy" dishwear and daily dishwear but still not china.

  47. Myssie says:

I had a grand plan to collect and mix/match "china". So we didn't register for any. We have a few pieces, but not as many as I thought we would when we married almost 8 years ago. Hmm, reminds me that tag sale season is upon us in New England.

  48. Lindalee Stuckey says:

I personally hate china. I love Corelle. But I did break down and get a set of dishes with suns and moons.

I remember my mom's china with pine cones. YUCK!

  49. Charlene says:

I was a rebellious teenager of the 60's who ran away to Haight-Ashbury. Got married in the early 70's and YES! I used the china that we picked out before we got married. Even used it when we had children. Why buy it and never use it? Few pieces remain but I love having an evening cup of tea using a china cup and saucer rather than a mug. Just feels right.

  50. Sheenah says:

We only got 2 place settings of our wedding china, but then we were given my husband's grandparents' wedding china. It is beautiful but we have never used it. I'm kind of afraid to.
