design-happens-sparrow-clips250x230When a talented designer is involved, the most basic household items can become ultra-stylish. That’s what happened when designer P.Waiwiriya got creative with everyday clothes pins. (You know — the kind that never get used for laundry but always hold your bag of tortilla chips closed?)

This week, we’re giving you the chance to win two sets of these whimsical clips available through the Museum of Modern Art’s MoMA Store – 32 clips total. The sparrows come in four bright colors and are just too cute to stash away in your laundry room. For a chance to win, answer this week’s question before 12/11c, Monday, May 3. Be sure to provide a valid email address so we can contact you if you win.

This week we want to know, what everyday item needs a style makeover? Toilet bowl brushes? Laundry baskets? Gardening tools? You have until 12/11c Monday to answer. Click for official rules.

I'd like to see the electric pencil sharpener given a new look. Get rid of the ugly, dark plastic & streamline it.

  2. Darby Casey says:

I am going with toilet bowl brush or plunger.

  3. marla says:

I'd like to see new vacuums and microwaves!

  4. Bri says:

Anything relating to the bathroom that is useful. Sure, there are pretty soap holders and toothbrush holders, but anything used in the shower to store all my crap or used to clean is ugly and living in an apartment, I only have so many places to hide them.

Out door Grilling utensils, and the Grilling area. Also easy cleanup there would be Great.

  6. Tammie says:

Toothbrushes are ugly and could use some help storing them to keep them from getting bacteria floating in the air from flushing the toilet and etc.

  7. Robyn says:

How about the dust pan – a jazzy handle that comes about knee lenght that curves to your hand!

  8. Debbie Traynor says:

Toilet/bathroom cleaners (plungers and brushes)…usually distasteful to look at, need a makeover so we don't get grossed out looking at them on the floor, yuck!

  9. Danielle Donohue says:

I'd love to see a towel bowl brush that REALLY gets the job done. None that I have tried fully get underneath the rim!

  10. I think what needs a change would be brooms mops and the buckets for mopping can use wheels and plungers a place to put them your done with them thats not so discussing
