Giselle Loor is one half of the dynamite design duo, b+g design. She and her husband, Brett Sugerman, are behind an award-winning and cutting-edge firm located in Hollywood, FL. Their work on the 2010 DCOTA Design House, located in Dania Beach, Florida, will be featured in tomorrow’s featured tour — make sure to check back to see this absolutely gorgeous house. Read on for Giselle’s take on the DCOTA Design House and the custom pieces she designs for clients.

1. What specific designers influenced you?

Andy Warhol, Chanel, Armani, Yabu Pushelberg, Clodagh. I also love Kelly Wearstler. She is a savvy designer who juggles being a mother and entrepreneur as well. She is very inspirational.

2. What’s your favorite design style?

Warm contemporary with eclectic accents

3. What’s the essential home accessory (or piece of furniture) you use in your designs?

Custom banquets provide comfortable seating and also a place for dining. It has become a b+g design favorite and we’ve included these custom banquets into our home line: b+g home.

4. What’s your favorite vacation spot?

5. What was it like working on the DCOTA Design House?

It was a great opportunity for us to showcase a style that was unique and different. It was interesting to see the other participating designers work ethic and see their design creativity come alive. We also had the pleasure of working directly with Michael O. who is a very talented designer as well. Together we were able to showcase our custom design with his great craftsmanship.

6. Show us a picture of a project you most enjoyed designing and tell us why you love it.

This photo is of a living room we designed in Hughes Cove, an area of Miami. Brett, my husband and design partner, designed this motorized art panel with me to conceal the TV unit.  I love this trick because it acts as an optical illusion to the viewer.

Here’s another example of the motorized panels we’ve designed for clients:
