What is beauty? Who defines it? Is it truly in the eye of the beholder? This week, I found an award-winning beauty, nature’s most beautiful creature and beauty that appeals to both men and women. See if you agree:

I’ve found the most beautiful thing in the world. No, really — I have. Created in 1968 by Dominique Imbert, the Gyrofocus, the world’s first suspended, pivoting fireplace has recently won the Pulchra Design Award for “the world’s most beautiful object.” The makers of the Gyrofocus have also created some incredibly awesome outdoor grills (see below). I wonder how much it costs to own the world’s most beautiful thing….

While I was getting all googley-eyed over the hideaway grill at 2Modern Design Talk, I stumbled upon this amazing butterfly chair. Check out the shadow the wings cast. Not only does this chair go great with the modern fireplaces and grills I found, it also reminded me of some other butterfly posts I’ve seen. It seems that Order Lepidoptera has got the design world all aflutter.

Finally, I found this gorgeous home owned by San Francisco designer Ken Fulk. Fulk is known for seamlessly blending feminine and masculine into tasteful and sophisticated homes loved by both sexes. By the looks of his home, he certainly practices what he preaches. I love how the eccentric and traditional pieces get along in a harmonious marriage.

Wow! Great ideas. Thanks for posting the links as well! Love the pink room from the first collage via The City Sage. I'm really inspired to do something like that in my home office.
