You may notice things look a little different on HGTV.com.
We know that lot of you think about design by room, so we updated our navigation to make exploration easier.

Some topics, though, cover the whole house. You can find those under Decorating.

We also know you care a lot about color. You’ll see this grid on various pages throughout the site. Use it to search thousands of photos of designer rooms.

We’ve packed a lot more information into our pages. On our section fronts, like Kitchens and Landscaping, you will see, along with other good stuff, our regular programming joined by the latest and the most popular articles in that section.
You may see some glitchy pages while we transition to the new format. We hope you’ll be patient while we iron out the last few kinks. We’re working hard behind the scenes to bring you the best HGTV.com ever!
All these changes are based on feedback and requests from readers. Let us know in the comments if we did right by you. And if you’re lost, let us know that too. We’ll get you pointed in the right direction.

What has happened to the other choices; like Crafts (share my craft), etcl?
Crafting and Organizing are still here — click on the Decorating tab and you'll see a whole list of goodies, including Handmade and Homekeeping (their new names), plus new options like Color, Accessories and Window Treatments.
The new web site is great!! Now can something be done about the programming?? The quality has decreased so much in the last year or so… Several favorites are gone and replacements are aired over and over…
I agree with you completly!! I am soooo tired of House Hunters and Property Virgins . Maybe someone in programing fell asleep and the same programs just keep running over and over. I've watched HGTV for almost 18 years. At that time it was it only aired just a few hours a day but I loved it. Now I don't watch more that a few hours a week, if any. So boring.
Design Star videos are not firing up. I've never had a problem viewing them until now. Is this because of the change? It is annoying.
Are you still having trouble playing them?
I can not get any full episodes (or video at all) to play for any show I've tired (design star, house hunters, antonio treatment). I have never had trouble before. this is very frustrating, to the point that i don't see the point in viewing the website at all.
Oh, how frustrating! Thanks for sticking with us while we ironed it out. Are they playing for you now?
Can you guys please put a Green Home Tab at the top of the main page like you have for the Dream Home. That would make finding the GH blog much easier. Thanks.
Yep, coming soon.
So glad you have run Cash in the Attic every morning @ 6:00 AM (cdt) for so long–it gives me an opportunity to turn my TV off and do my early morning chores–like walking and feeding my dog–other wise watch you all day when I am not working–but agree with the person who said the quality has decreased–so much same ole-same ole–but will continue to watch–just not everything-
I'll make sure our programming team sees all of your comments about shows.
kwalters – Don't waste your breath telling programming, because obviously they are deaf. Practically every comment on here from viewers for the past 5 years, has requested that HGTV go back to the old formats and have complained about the endless House Hunters, and Sell This House shows, but nothing has changed. HGTV has just put on more of the house selling shows. Don't see how they can keep ignoring us. Their viewership must have gone down with the addition of the bad programming. I would love to be able to find out that information. My TV used to be on HGTV the most when I was home. I have to look to TLC or A&C to see decent decorating shows. Unfortunately, no network has craft shows anymore. I don't get it.
PLEASE ! PLEASE ! PLEASE ! What has happened to CRAFTS ?????
Why aren't there any craft programs anymore ??? And NO old craft show at 6 a.m. don't count.
I agree that HGTV has forgotten who their core audience is/was. I rarely even turn it on anymore, and when i do it only ever has House Hunters or House Hunters International (ooooh! I can't stand the DIVERSITY of the programming!) I miss the shows like Awesome Interiors, Carol Duvall, Kitty Bartholemew, Small Spaces. I used to watch this channel almost all day, everyday. I think we should all revolt!
I totally agree. Love House Hunters, but not over and over and over again. Can't you put a craft show on here and there at least? Miss them tremendously.
Love the changes you've made to some of the photo galleries for easier navigation between photos–no more scrolling down to see the whole picture, then scrolling back up to move to the next picture! Hope you can make that change for all the photo galleries.
The photo galleries are all migrating to the new template (we love it, too).
I agree. I don't care much for the current programming either, and thus I don't watch as much either. And what happened to the pictures of the projects or the room makeovers? I really liked those and miss them a lot.
And here I thought it was just my computer that wasn't playing the full videos! I went to another website to watch them
I agree that the programming has really gone down hill. I used to watch HGTV almost
exclusively. Now the line-up is very boring with the exceptjion of Sarah's House,
Candace Olson, David Bromstad and Color Confidential.
What happened to great shows like Find Your Style (Karen Mcalooon is a great designer), Rate My
Space? etc.
I realize House Hunters must be a very cheap show to produce, but how does that serve the viewers
who have been loyal HGTV fans since the network's inception.
Whoever is in charge of programming needs to ramp it up or be replaced. And if the above mentioned
great shows that are still on also disappear, I am done with HGTV.
I used to watch HGTV in a different state, when I moved 8 months ago I got dish because it had HGTV but …..to my surprise NO MORE CRAFT SHOWS, that was the reason I wanted HGTV to watch and learn from the craft shows, can't tell you how disappointing it is not to see them anymore.
agree, I tried to contact HGTV about my disappointment and suprise, no response.=/
I thought I was the only one that found the programming had slipped to boring!! Can't get into Design Star this year. Love Vern and Candace, but the program sure needs "Clivey" to shepherd the contestants through the various phases of the contest.
What is going on with HGTV????? Oh, I love David Bromsted, Candace Olson and Design Star (Where is Clive???) but most of the rest of the programming is 'BORING'. Same thing over and over again. Also, I miss David's old crew. They all worked so very very well together. I understand he is from Miami but it is hard getting use to new people when he had such a wonderful relationship with his old crew. Where are all the people from the "old" shows, expecially those with Clive narrating??? Has the budget been cut so much there is no quality HGTV any longer? If there wasn't David or Candace, I would not watch HGTV at all anymore. Please bring back some of the old gang and the wonderful shows that used to be.
Absolutely agree with you, Betty. Seems like everything is a repeat now. Not a lot of new shows so why watch? And we miss David's old crew too. He should have brought them all with him. How many hotel-inspired rooms can you do in Miami anyhow? Boring…
Okay….you’ve changed your screen now change your name because, as the old song goes, HGTV “ain’t what she use to be!” Home and Garden you are not nor have you been for years! Real Estate, Designer “wanna-bees,” and Millionair McMansions are of no interest to me. Sooo sad to see good programing go so, so bad.
HGTV needs to have more arts and culture shows.Especially arts!
I look to HGTV for the latest in decorating and color. NOT for people looking for houses to buy, especially houses in some foreign country. HGTV used to be so great with quality decorators and nice homes. Too much time in each show is spent on showing the "work" that goes into the project – but not enough time is spent on the finished project so we can really see it and understand what was done. If you watch the last 3 minutes of the shows that's all you need to watch to understand the whole show.
That was a great comment about the finished project at the end of the show. The cameras pan
across the area so fast that it is hard to see how the actual finished project looks. A lot more time
should be spent on each area of a room so we can actually see what the whole end result looks like.
Even though the designers tell us what is going on while the work is in progress and we see
snippets of that particular area, there is not enough time spent at the end. on the room as a whole,
showing all walls and areas that were done. The show cannot serve as a learning experience
or just an enjoyable ending unless the camera work is slowed down.
I pay for premium satellite just to get HGTV – but like the other posts I find the programming boreing and useless. I hardly ever watch anymore – DvR the shows I want and pan the rest – Might as well just get the episodes from Hulu or other viewing site – What happened??? I don't even enjoy the magazine anymore – Have you "jumped the shark" trying to cut corners and waste time on people that want to do a crappy job fixing up their house to sell it? Have you seen the quality of the paint lines and the useless advice – I'm sick of HGTV – get your act together or move on..
Oh, irony. What I could not find (and what search on the site did not return) is this blog.
I am so glad to know that I am not the only one dissatisfied with HGTV's programming. I keep asking myself who would have been paid money to create and promote a show where I watch real estate being sold. I appreciate the beautiful designs of Candice Olson and Sarah's House. David Bromsted has a creative, enjoyable show and the only design star worth promoting, thus far. I guess I wish for programs addressing good and obtainable design for those of us who like to create beautiful homes. I'd like to feel more like a participant and less a spectator.
Contrary to some other posts, I like House Hunters International. I love to see what architecture & design ideas other countries have. Sometimes I feel as though we have tunnel vision – its good to see how others attack the same problems I'm having.
But I'm sure all my problems would melt away if I could just get Candice or David to come to the PA mountains, and naturally Jamie is the only one allowed to touch my outdoor space…
Oh, dreaming is sweet.
I agree! House Hunters International is very interesting! I love that they show how most other countries can live in much smaller places which gives me great ideas on my little gem!
Crafts? not so much. very boring watching someone else do crafting.
Clive? miss him!
I do have a request regarding the RSS Feed. I apologize if I don't understand the full dynamics of the RSS…but the following is my request: Is it possible to have a RSS Feed for a page that you will be updating with future pics, e.g., the time lapse photos for the Dream Home construction. Or, possibly the RSS Feed page could have a choice to subscribe to individual pages that you've set up for showing the progression of your project (s). I would love to be able to stop checking for new pics, and just rely on your notification…
(Our days are very busy doing all of your lovely projects…making extra time a scarce commodity. That said, it can be very time consuming to have to go to the last of the series of 10 pics, choose "next", advance to the end of the next 10 pics, choose "next", advance…….ect., until we reach pic 71. Once on 71 we are able to see that 74 is the last photo… [hope that made sense])
Ok, now that I'm thinking out-loud / in black and white, will you also be changing the photo gallery for the time-lapse pics of the construction site ?
oooh, I'll stop now… (the RSS Feed could solve the photo thingy…)
Time to switch to Decaf!
Thanks,
Zip
I thought it was just me. It has been a year since I watched HGTV and only because I realized David has a new show am I even stopping on this channel anymore. What happened to City Gardner and Small Space Big Style? Design Star has taken a dive; I love Candice and Vern as designers but they don't serve as very good hosts for this particular show. The real estate shows need to go and the constant loop of old shows is, well, old.
I have just now read each and every posting here because I really thought I was losing it – trying to find craft or project episodes – what happened? I agree David B is practically the only one worth watching these days. Have been an avid HGTV watcher, but since I don't currently own (wish I could afford a house) it's so disheartening to watch Holmes tearing up & making repairs (I can watch my neighbor do that – or watch the rich folks have exclusive and expensive makeovers. I want to see real people with real design ideas – how about returning to the great programming we seem to have lost. Like everywhere else, fresh-new-and wet-behind-the-ears talent is creating a boring (no thought process) program. Sorry HGTV – you are no longer a favorite pastime.
I came to this site to see whatw happened to my favorite shows. They are no loner on HGTV. I love Candice Olsen and her "Devine Design" show. What happened to it? David B with his old crew in the SF Bay Area is gone. I did like to watch the shows that helped you dell your home with Clive and Lisa especially. Are you gys doing a makeover of the network or is th is leaving us, too. Please tell me where my shows went. I also enjoyed the Feng Shui shows. I love Feng shui and would love to see more of that especially the orignal shows that you put on the air. Please post on your website what you are going to do about the favorite shows that your audience is screaming for.
Home and Garden TV??? might as well be called The Real Estate Channel. I am tired of the buying and selling home shows. I love Lisa LaPorta's decorating style but I don't need to see it to sell my house. I want to see new Design on a Dime, Decorating Cents and I loved the show Sensible Chic. David Bromstadt is a cutie and has a lot of talent. His show even makes me think I can paint a masterpiece on canvas. HGTV needs to fix the programming or change it's name. I miss the decorating.
I agree with you. House Hunters and House Hunters International are fine but not ten times a day. Holmes on Homes – ditto. Antonio Treatment is at some ridiculous hour. How do they ever expect to build up a fan base. More decorating, less house hunts. Curb Appeal the block is fun. More David Bromstadt, thanks.
HGTV was my favorite station for years. However, the programming is terrible and sinking fast after viewing the station’s line-up scheduled for the upcoming season. The reality show spin with Design Star, House Hunter (including international), Property Virgin, Love it or List it and anything with buying or selling real estate are not HGTV worthy the formats are routine and contrive. Also, Sunday evenings filled with Holmes…keep him on DIY.
HGTV, regain your focus and listen to your audience plea of better Home and Garden programming.
I loved watching HGTV on Saturdays with Candice, David, Geneieve, Sarah, great , great shows. Now it's just awful. I hate all the bickering on Love it or List it. I want to see design not drama !!!What happened HGTV? You use to be so great…
