If you’ve seen the movies Wild Wild West, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Prestige or Sherlock Holmes, you’ve been introduced to steampunk. Steampunk has an appreciation for the Victorian era and Industrial age. It embraces technology, but not the sleek minimalist styles of today — instead ornate, attention-grabbing and often steam-powered technology. Steampunk is idealistic and romantic, visualizing a world of time travel exploration and whimsical fantasy.

  1. Thank you so much for including a photo of the room I designed for the 2010 Baltimore symphony showhouse in your blog ( and the first picture too) My company, McLain Wiesand, designs and creates high end furnishings, accessories, lighting and murals. You can see other shots of the showhouse room we did on our blog http://www.mclainwiesand.blogspot.com/ as well as some of our other projects of note. David Wiesand
