When my parents built their retirement home, my stepdad was to have his own room. Since he has had a lifelong subscription to National Geographic magazine, I searched his back issues and found several map posters that they routinely put in their mags. The room has two single windows. I purchased two sheets of foam board, cut them the width of the windows, and cut a scalloped edge to each board. I then covered each "valance" with a hodge-podge of different map pieces. Velcro strips were attached to the top edge of the back of each valance and the other side of the Velcro strips were attached to the wall above each window.
