We love Emmo Home‘s modern take on housewares, not to mention their site, with categories like Be a Foodie, Love Your Kids and Visit Slumberland. This week, you’ll have a chance to win their knife stand — sleek and modern, but functional with a dishwasher-safe sleeve (and you know how nice that is if you’ve been wiping down a wooden block for years). knife

One reader will receive the slanted knife stand by answering this week’s question before 12/11c, Monday, September 13th.

The Juicer… When you are using it to make fresh juices it is wonderful. But it is big and bulky so hard to store especially in New York City apartments. Also there is cleanup process. It has a lot of small pieces which you have to take apart clean separately. You never get all of the previous juiced fruit or veggie out of it. Therefore your next juice which you thought was just going to be carrot ends up being carrot tomato. Not good!! Thanks for the awesome post!! PS I don't have a knife set anymore because I got mad at my last one for not staying sharp.

Cords on appliances that sit on the counter. They should be retractable not just to shove under them or behind because that never works. If they were retractable it would make things alot nicer to look at as well as safer for little ones that like to help in the kitchen.

What about the potato peeler! No matter what I can't seem to get one that works well. However, I did just buy a new one, so we will see! Maybe there is hope!

I would have to say that I'd like shredders to be different… They can be so messy, and hard to clean… And with mine you can shred your fingers too…

How about a hand can opener redesign? Hard to clean that yucky wheel and no matter how comfortable the handles…you get a cramp after two cans.
