Sherry and John Petersik are full-time bloggers with a knack for all things DIY. Meet one of their babies, Young House Love, a blog dedicated to the adventures of their first home renovation project.

After a big move from New York City to Richmond, Va., Sherry and John faced a 54-year-old home in desperate need of a makeover. Three years and 1,350 sq. ft. later, their home has become the source of inspiration for Young House Love. Together, they write a column for Better Homes and Garden’s Do It Yourself Magazine and have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post and on TheNest.com.

Master Bedroom: Before & After

I can’t resist before-and-after pictures, so John and Sherry’s House Tour is my eye candy. They take us through every room in the house, making it easy to see the amount of love that went into the placement of each tile, nail and paint stroke. If you’re like me and are already packing your bags to move into this cozy home, they provide a room-by-room source list sharing the whereabouts of each item, from the living room paint color to the dining room table runner, so you can bring the look straight to your own home.

Check out the projects page and tackle some of the tutorials they’ve put together inspired by their home renovation adventure. Learn how to add bedroom built-ins, upholster an old chair (the easy way) and even paint a wall mural.

Facing a harrowing design dilemma? Let Sherry and John’s Mood Boards ease your pain. These room-ready collections provide the color schemes, furniture, accessories and fabric patterns for ideas and inspiration to bring into your own home. Each of the 150 (or more) boards comes with a breakdown, giving you the ideas, location and approximate pricing for each item. I found Young House Love a few years ago when I was looking for images of different types of granite online. The type Sherry and John first used in their kitchen (and then changed their minds) was the one we put in the house we renovated. What a smart blog! I'm going to be blogging about what it's like to build a new house using a stock plan at http://thatnewhouse.blogspot.com/
