In the days of email, iChat, Skype and text-everything, a hand-written note is still a treasure. And if you’re looking for a good reason to rush out to the stationary store, John Derian’s new line of note cards for Dempsey and Carroll is just that. Derian, who is a favorite decoupage artist and well known for his chic decorative plates and boxes, offers up a lovely collection pairing hand-bordered cotton-paper cards with envelopes lined with the designer’s signature patterns ($60 for a set of 10).

This marks Derian’s first foray into stationary, and I hope it’s not his last. Available in six graphic prints, including Water Lilies and Sea Urchin, each can be engraved in a complementary color, making them a terrific holiday gift to give and receive.

They are lovely! I think we should appreciate little details like that. I love to receive Thank You notes and Letters from family members from far away, and if they do it with style better.
