• Tell Your Friends

Our design team first got an inkling that this month’s color was making it back, big-time, when we ran across it at Barclay Butera‘s booth at High Point. After booths of colorless greige and gray-washed teak, we came to a screeching halt in front of a massive Chesterfield.

“Great googly-moogly,” said one of our decorating editors. “Is that NAVY?”

Why yes; yes, it was. Since then, we’ve been waiting for it to rise out of the showrooms and into stores and lo, this month, it appeared en masse:

Navy’s a good friend, pairing well with just about everything. It’s neutral and timeless enough that you can buy a main piece in this deep, rich shade. Isn’t it great on the sofa in this Emily Henderson living room?

And on the accessories side, check out this (also by Emily) dining room with a colorful alternative to a cork board:

Since it’s December, and the holidays are upon us, consider it as an alternative for traditional red and green. I love this unusual garland by steelheart:

And how cute are these gift tags by ShortGirlDesigns?

Or incorporate it into a Hanukkah meal with a navy tablecloth and napkins, highlighted by Crate & Barrel’s Dreidl Platter:

Can’t wait to hear your take on this classic-yet-timely hue!

I have a pale yellow kitchen with Navy Silestone countertops….it's BEAUTIFUL! I also painted my small downstairs bathroom a pale yellow and use navy blue towels and accessories. Pale yellow and navy are my favorite colors to use together!!

This design is spectacular! You obviously know how to keep a reader
amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost
moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you
    presented it. Too cool!
