Every year since we were born, my parents have given my siblings and me a special Christmas ornament. Unwrapping each hand-picked treasure is one of my favorite holiday traditions. If I was to offer my parents a hint for this year’s ornament, it would be the Courtly Check Owl from the whimsical home decor artisans at MacKenzie-Childs.

The glass ornaments in the Woodland-Inspired Collection are handcrafted and hand-painted by artists in Eastern Europe. Answer this week’s question before 12/11c Monday, Dec. 13 to be entered into the giveaway.
This week’s question: What is your favorite Christmas ornament or holiday decoration given to you by a relative?

My favorite ornament given to me was probably a Hallmark Owl ornament given to me by my daughter. It is two owls and the tree light go into it from behind and light it up.
When I was four years old, my grandmother bought me an ornament while we were out shopping together. I still have that little skater-girl in her red felt suit with aluminum foil on her pipecleaner feet. And that was 44 years ago!!!
We have a gold ball that opens and each year my husband or I put something in it for a someone. I have recieved several special things hidden in this ball. Happy holidya
My favorite ornaments were the ornaments that my Mom collected for me over the years when I was a child – she gave them to me when I got married. But last year, my 92 year old grandmother, secretly bought me a glittery red high heel shoe ornament, on a shopping trip we were on together. She wrapped it up and gave it to me for Christmas with a hugh smile on her face. Now I will always see her smiling face when I put that glittery red shoe ornament on my tree every year!
I have a set of crocheted snowflakes made by my grandmother that I love. I also have about 8 owls on my tree that would love to "hang out" with this beautiful MacKenzie Childs owl
My youngest son made an ornament when he was in kindergarten ….. it was a picture of himself cut into a circle and the put into a spray painted wide mouth ring that is used for canning ; this served as the frame . He is now 37 yrs' old and is always my PRESENT on the tree every year !
My cousin Linda gave me a bird nesting in a walnut shell that she made. She told me that it would bring me good luck and it has. I met my soon to be husband right after she gave it to me and have had good luck ever since.
Handpainted wooden ornaments that. my mother brought me from Germany.. each reflected the interest of each of my children.
It has to be a set of musical christmas lights that my mother in law gave me last year. It has musical red blinking lights shaped in from of red bells. They are very special to me because all the songs they play are the ones I used to listed to in South America when I was little. I moved here when I was 18. Also in Chile most of the christmas lights are the blinking lights and these are just like that!.
Amazing how she gave me such a special present without even knowing it.
My favorite decoration is a primitive wooden nativity set made by my aunt and uncle. They are both gone now but every year I unwrap it and think of how much fun it was to spend time with them at the holdays.
In thinking about the question, I can not say that I really have a "favorite" ornament!!!
All my ornaments are store bought at sometime or another.
Sad to say that both of my parents being deceased, where did our family tree ornaments go???
We always had a real tree that my Father would go into the Maine woods, chop one down and
bring it home. We always had a nice tree. I guess when you live far away from your home place
things seem to disapper over time.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to each and everyone out there in cyber space.
My favorite ornament has to be an beaded snowflake ornament that my cousin made at our house during the holidays…she taught me and my sisters how to make them as well so we ended up with a whole collection of them!
I have a crocheted wish bone that one of my great aunts made years ago. It is made with pink and white verigated yarn with a tiny upside down bonnet in the middle of the bone. Around the bone is multiple stiched patterns. Even the hanger is stiched.
My favorite family-given ornament is a gold metal angel that bears my name and my birth year. Every year, I have the opportunity to put that ornament on our tree. My brother also has one, and every year, seeing those little golden ornaments reminds me of my childhood and all the fun my family had trimming the tree and having eggnog. Thanks for the opportunity to share this memory!
I have McDonald's-issued ornaments of the Cinderella mice Jack and Gus. Fave!
