Every year since we were born, my parents have given my siblings and me a special Christmas ornament. Unwrapping each hand-picked treasure is one of my favorite holiday traditions. If I was to offer my parents a hint for this year’s ornament, it would be the Courtly Check Owl from the whimsical home decor artisans at MacKenzie-Childs.

The glass ornaments in the Woodland-Inspired Collection are handcrafted and hand-painted by artists in Eastern Europe. Answer this week’s question before 12/11c Monday, Dec. 13 to be entered into the giveaway.

This week’s question: What is your favorite Christmas ornament or holiday decoration given to you by a relative?

My favorite Christmas decoration is a vintage Santa candy jar that I inherited from my mom. She always put this candy jar out with miniature candy canes in it. All the kids and grandkids loved this candy jar. It's a little worse for wear, but we have patched it up over the years and I'll put it out again this year.

A beautiful red ornament given to me by my mom — it has snowflakes and jumping white deer encircling the sphere that opens up to reveal a "hidden treasure" inside.

My favorite Christmas onament has always been the first one my parents got for me as a baby- a Santa made of silver glass ball ornaments. I am in my fifties, and I still think of it when it's Christmas!

Mine is a angel that my aunt made me one year. It's blue with rinestones in it. I think she made it in ceramic class.

My favorite Christmas ornament of all time (64 years) was a red and white plastic Santa Claus about 3 or 4 inches tall that hung on our tree when I was a little girl. One year, after I was grown up, my mother put it away out of reach of little hands (some children she was babysitting) that wanted to play with it…and forgot where she put it. We haven't seen it since. She's gone now, and my sister, who lives in her house, has never found it either. I have a collection of Santas of my own, but have never found another like my favorite Santa.

My favorite ornament would be one my daughter made when she was in second grade. It is a rocking horse with a bear . I love it because she made it pink to match my Christmas tree and her name is on the front. It is funny I have a lot of things for the tree but this warms my heart. I would love to win the owl- my daughter loves them and I would give it to her.

Each year I give my 2 children a very special ornament that they put on their own trees….But nothing is more wonderful than the handmade ornaments my children give me each Christmas. Love them all…

Mine is a snowy white OWL yes that's right! I bought it for myself at Macy's. Owl is my totem. He watches over the tree. He's love to have a brother!

My Grandmother gave me a "granddaughter" ornament every year from the time I was born. She passed a little over a month before I turned 13 years old. I got an ornament that year as well because she'd purchased it early. So, my favorite Christmas ornament/decoration are my "granddaughter" ornaments dating from 1979 to 1992.
